I never knew that putting your stick in someone's way was equivalent to taking a baseball swing to someone's chest. I wonder though, why was Jamie McClennan from the Flames suspended for so long after doing the same thing to Franzen? I mean, if a two handed chop isn't that bad, why the suspension on him?

Eva, facts don't matter here. We learned that when the initial Preds sale fell through. If they proposed a team to either Las Vegas or Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, everyone would say that Moose Jaw is a better location because they love hockey. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia? 10 x better than Portland, simply because it's in Canada. Some people will never be satisfied until all 30 teams are in Canada, and the league fades into obscurity.

Would it be Don Cherry-ish to suggest that all the diving was brought in by the Euros? Anyone watch any football/soccer, maybe the World Cup? Those guys are trained from little kids to just crumple into a ball at the slightest brush of an opposing player, and writhe on the ground holding their knee if someone's foot comes close to theirs. Heck, I remember this video of some goalie coming out ala Hasek to stop someone on a break. He slides in, and the opposing player jumps completely over him, missing him by like a foot. But the goalie acts like he just took a line drive off his forehead, and flops around on the ground. Pathetic, yet eerily similar to today's NHL.

If anything, that game illustrates why Brunnstrom WON'T get the top 6 playing time he's looking for here in Detroit. The top two lines were dominant, and most, if not all of them are locked up or soon will be. He has no place on either of those lines, especially not if he's trying to blackmail his way up there. He'd definitely have to spend a season or so down in GR, and he's already indicated he has no desire for that. I see him bound for a perennial loser if he wants guaranteed top 6 minutes. Wings don't need him.
