*nm* Cool story.

The thing that made it noteworthy though is that Patty is the one who sent his son down there to wreck some shop. He wasn't content to leave it alone, he had to get his son down there to attack some people. Not really something the coach is supposed to do. At least, not in front of everyone.

I want these too. I guess I will have to hit eBay when they're all done and see how much they're going for.

"Laraque predicts that the NHLPA will vote to push for the abolition of the instigator rule. The topic was addressed during new NHLPA head Paul Kelly's fall tour, and will come up again at the union's summer meetings. Should Kelly get the go-ahead from his players, he could then approach the league about dropping the instigator. And Laraque thinks that could end the trend towards players like Carcillo. "That 's their job -- to draw penalties. Now [without the instigator penalty] you can beat the piss out of the people who do that, and not get two minutes extra," Laraque said. "Most of the guys in league, they hate these agitators."" HAHAHAHA...That's awesome. edit - punctuation

Pronger has 8 suspensions. Simon has 8 suspensions. Pronger has been suspended for "kicking" before too. 30 would have been too many for Pronger, but in the realm of 15 games would have been fair. 8 is a joke.

Helm used his speed to get on the wrong side of a Drake check. These HDNet announcers - Dan Moriarty and John Swisscheesebrook are pretty annoying.

Really? That's what you think? There is absolutely no way that the majority of people don't watch soccer or hockey because they weren't invented in the US. I can tell you that that had absolutely no bearing on why I didn't ever care about hockey growing up. I grew up in way south Texas. There was no ice skating rink. No street hockey. No TV coverage. Texas is all about football in the fall/winter, and baseball in the spring/summer. No exposure = i could care less. I played soccer as a kid, all the way up until High School. I loved it. Soccer is really fun to play and participate in. On TV, not so much. The nature of soccer doesn't really lend itself to US audiences, since it's a low scoring, strategy based game. There's not a ton of shots, there aren't really many "highlight reel" moments. In a 90 minute game, you'll get maybe 2 or 3 goals, maybe 10-15 shots on goal. Not terribly exciting to an NBA fan used to 100 or so "goals" a game. To those who understand and love the game, it all makes sense, just like hockey does to those of us on this board. It's really a question of exposure and personal opinion. For most people, hockey is great to watch every now and then, but if someone's not pushing them to watch it, it's not that big a deal. It has nothing, except probably in some extreme cases, to do with the sports not originating in the US.

c'mon d-bag is perfectly acceptable. should we switch to "wow, you are a feminine hygene product?" there is a time and a place for cursing, and I don't want to see the ability to use it taken away.

starting a fight doesn't cause a penalty? good to know. go get em downey, just don't take off thes gloves.
-
Secondary scoring!! Welcome back, my old friend.
-
If we could have traded them Jussi Joikenen and Mike Smith, and landed him, it would have been awesome. Why can't you trade the assets of another team to benefit yourself?
-
Steve Duschense? I hear he got his grill all fixed from taking the puck in the teeth.
-
I'm calling it. Mathieu Dandenault, Aaron Ward, and Kozzie coming back.
-
Whoops. Sorry about that then. I am lazy, and didn't go back through all the pages.
-
A buddy of mine listening to the trade show said that Holland was on and said they'd be doing a small trade, not a big blockbuster. Take that for what it's worth.
-
I think scoring in general has been MIA. Need to put pucks in nets period if you want to win.
-
A report in a Montreal newspaper over a delivery of gloves forHossa turned out to be for Marcel of the Rangers, not Marian of theThrashers.
-
But a goalie just standing there and letting pucks hit his giant shoulder pads or the matresses strapped to his legs without moving isn't a great save. It's just the fact that the goalie blocks a large portion of the net.
-
Also, Sundin has already said that he won't resign with anyone other than the Leafs for next season. Hossa is the way to go if we can make a deal for him.
-
You really think that all the goal scoring in the 80's would have been possible against the pads players deal with today? I think you put Gretzky against Giggy, and there's no broken records. Hell, Crosby and Ovechkin are the best out there today, and arguably bigger, faster, better than Gretzky was, and they aren't really even coming close to the rate of scoring Gretzky did.
-
So, until you see a D-man with matresses strapped to his legs, or a forward skating down with a big bertha composite stick, i think the modifications have mainly been done by the goalies. This isn't about penalizing the goalies..It's about bringing goalies and skaters back to more even footing. It's either the pads shrink, or the net grows. If there wasn't a problem, there wouldn't be that many goalies, even playing now, that agree something needs to be changed.
-
Let's get Aaron Ward and Mathieu Dandenault back. Hey, Kozzie too. He can provide some secondary scoring. Anyone?
-
Bring back Markov. What's Uwe Krupp up to these days?
-
What do you think the problem is for our current slump?
