Back with Dats and Z, the coaching staff and scouts made the determinations that they should make the roster immediately. With Grigs, he's forced their hand. I'm sure if Babs wanted Grigs on the roster, Grigs wouldn't have had to invoke the whole "I don't wanna play in GR" clause. Babs would have pulled him up on his own.

Yeah, I mean really, why should he be forced to earn a spot, when all he had to do was hold out, and force them to put him on the team, before he proved anything.

Wait. Did or did not everyone bag on Keith Tkachuk for showing up to training camp like 30 lbs overweight? It has nothing to do with him being Russian, and everything to do with him acting like a spoiled baby, and being about to blow his one chance. I don't think anyone thinks that right now, this minute, he can come onto the Wings roster, and earn a spot. Is he capable? Maybe. Based on what he's done so far, will he? Not a chance. It would take a miracle for him to make the squad once everyone is healthy. The fact that he's trying to demand that he be promoted before showing even a glimmer of wanting to be on the team is what is angering most people.

I think he meant combined, they will make 100 pts. Huds, Drapes, and Dats will combine for 100 pts.

Five Finger Death Punch

I had the "pleasure" of seeing Big Snake play for the Texas Brahmas against the hometown Austin Ice Bats last night. I have to say, when I saw his name on the opposing roster, I was a bit excited. After reading on here about how much he fights, and how gritty he is, I was glad to get a chance to see it for myself. All I saw last night, though, was Jordin Tootoo with less skill. The Earthworm, as he was called by the home fans, did nothing but take cheap shots all night, run the Bats' goalie, and then refuse to fight. There was a sequence in the 2nd, after he pulled the skate out from under the goalie as he skated by, that 3 separate Ice Bats attempted to engage him in a fight. He just refused to go. The Bats ended up having to take a penalty for crosschecking him up high and driving him into the ice. He laid there like he'd been shot till he was sure the penalty had been called, and then hopped right back up, and skated to the bench. He's gonna have some issues in this league. I can already tell that the 2 Bats' fighters\enforcers are going to have some words for him the next time he comes to town.

How many times does this have to be repeated? Bettman did *NOT* block the sale, based on any unbiased accounts of what happened. Balsille couldn't get his way because of the BOG rules, so he took his ball and went home. Bettman works FOR the BOG. He wouldn't risk his job by going against the BOG's wishes. Balsille stepped on too many toes in the BOG, so it will be a LONG time before he owns a team. You piss of an super-exclusive club that has to approve you for membership, you're pretty much doomed.
