I hope Dom can stay alert back there. With so little work, I wouldn't be surprised if he took a nap.

So I finally finished "A Feast for Crows" and have moved on to Wilbur Smith's newest "Taita" book The Quest. I will probably be reading a book on simplifying your life by throwing stuff out, I think it's called "It's All Too Much" or something similar next.

I think the point he was making is that if you had 2 teams, 1 of 5 Gretzky's and 1 of 5 Howe's that the Howe team would just dominate. I think he's right. Wayne-o was an offensive dynamo, no question. He was a great passer, and a great shooter. Howe, however (lol pun) was a much better all around player. He had awesome offensive prowess, but was also big, mean, and not afraid of taking the body to someone. Gretzky is not known for being a physical force, and you could argue that without the McSorleys he always had to protect him, he wouldn't have been nearly as good. Gordie was great offensively, and was his own McSorely.

I wondered what happened to the pirate talk. I actually started to miss it. It was always fun trying to decipher your posts. And I agree. IT'S FRIDAY *******! PLUS IT'S PAYDAY! AND I'M OFF ALL NEXT WEEK! Oh, and rwfan007, that doesn't count. You have to have played in QMJHL or above to qualify to have an opinion on anything hockey related on this board. I grew up in Texas, so you can imagine how little I know about anything.

Hey! Look at that Brad. You made the yahoo photos page. Good times for you.

What about the Raiders or the Cardinals? 0-2 and 1-1 respectively. About what you'd expect. How about the yearly "Chiefs suckstravaganza," that's still going on. In *ANY* league, you're going to have your perrenial bottom feeders, and perrenial winners. Everything else is up for grabs.
-
Really? You wouldn't be shocked if the Texans went to the Superbowl this year?? How about the Raiders? Them winning the Superbowl wouldn't surprise you? Arizona Cardinals? The list goes on.

Did ye see the new pirate movie coming out? It's rated ARRRRRRRR! Who be the pirate's least favorite lead singer from Van Halen? Sammy Hag-ARRRRRR!

I don't think Bettman had anything to do with Balsille pulling out. I think that Balsille figured out that he wasn't going to just be able to throw money at any hurdles and make them go away like he's used to, so he didn't want to play anymore. The BoG is an exclusive club that has to approve you as a member, as others have said on here. The best way to get them to accept you is to *demand* that they treat you as an exception to the rules, and get pissy when they won't. The BoG told him, "We need to approve you as the owner of the team. THEN we can vote on whether or not you can relocate the team." Balsille didn't like that (and I can't say I blame him) so he pulled out. End of story. Back on topic: As for expansion, we don't need it. It won't help anything to expand, and the Wings will *never* move to the Eastern Conference (thank God) so there's not really a point. KC would be a terrible market, Los Vegas should be avoided at all costs (head coach Janet Gretzky anyone?) The 'Peg has already demonstrated they won't support a team, so I don't see the point of expanding there either.

So, if you're the seller in that situation, and someone e-mails you and says "Hey, don't sell the team to this guy. Instead, sell it for a bunch less to someone else who may or may not materialize," you'd cancel the sale? Bettman doesn't have that much power. Ballsack's camp is lying to make him look better for walking away. Does he really look good for saying "Well, I couldn't litigate my way to what I wanted, so I gave up." I think not.

I'm currently reading both "A Feast for Crows" by George RR Martin and the short stories at the end of "I Am Legend"

QFT! It'll be time to take my little girl to her first hockey game this upcoming season, and we are definitely not sitting anywhere a puck could jump over the glass and get her.

Living the Dream is the perfect example of our sue-happy society. "Oh no, something bad happened. Who can I sue to get money from it?" I mean, if it's actually something where someone or some company is at fault, then go ahead. If you're on the roller coaster at Disneyland, and a cable snaps, taking your leg off, by all means sue. But, if you're at a hockey game where you know pucks may come flying off the ice, then you get hit, and it's your own fault. I would be devastated if my daughter got hit by a puck, and was seriously injured. But I would understand that it was not the team, rink, owner, league, beer guy's fault.

I'm listening to Yo Gabba Gabba in the other room. My daughter loves it.

We're only 843 votes down. We can do it! </sarcasm> Goooooooo Rorybots! I will definitely vote against the Canucks in all the other rounds, but I think the cheaters will find a way to pull it out.
-
Kopecky for captain! I can't believe they went with Lids, and everyone thinks Z will be next. Ha. The Drake - Kopecky - Whoever line will be the best line in the NHL this year and Kopecky by himself will crush all of Gretzky's records in one year.

But, it does force the plaintiff to prove that the team\building was negligent, which is a bit more difficult to do.
