So funny, yet sad at the same time. You know, cause it's true.

    Another hockeypuck related lawsuit

I like the little aside in the article where a spectator sued because he got hit in the shoulder with a baseball during warmups? WTF?!? That tells you how much of a "cash in wherever you can, regardless of how stupid" society we live in. I'm sure he immediately left the game (after watching the whole thing) and called one of the personal injury lawyers who run commercials on TV, and was fitted for a neck brace. I hate D-bags like that.

What are you reading right now?

So, since I finished the Odd Thomas series, I read a book of short stories by Tad Williams (very good) short stories by Brian Lumley (also very good) The first in the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley (re-read, and always good) and now I'm reading both book 4 in George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series and Stephen King\Richard Bachman's Blaze. So far both are excellent.

    NHL Tournament of Logos

I actually don't have a problem with the Habs unis even. I agree that the maroon\red white and blue look really sharp. I just don't like their logo.

    NHL Tournament of Logos

I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I just really dislike logos that are words or letters, and that's it. The exception to that is the Bruins logo, which I happen to think is very cool. The Habs logo just smacks of "hmmm...need a logo...ummm...ok...well the team is called the Canadiens, so we'll make the logo a C....but we'll put an H inside it, so it'll be different. It won't make any sense, unless you know what the H is for, so that'll be really cool. Like a secret decoder ring." Like I've said, I don't like the Oilers logo for the same reason. I don't like the Ducks new logo for the same reason. It just seems lazy. The logos everyone else hates, I kind of like. I like the CBJ logo. Sure, it's a bit out there, but that's part of the fun of logos. You'll always have those borderline logos that people either love or hate. I think the Wild logo is very imaginative, and I like it. Likes and dislikes are very subjective though. There's no way to quantify the reasons you like one thing, but not another similar thing, and people aren't very likely to change their minds about liking or disliking something. Just because you tell me how good broccoli is for me, and all the reasons why I should like it, the fact remains that I don't, and I doubt I ever will. It's just the way it works. I don't see the point in berating someone because they like or dislike something as subjective as "do you like or dislike this picture." You're usually not going to convince someone to like something if they already don't like it.

    NHL Tournament of Logos

OH NOES!!!!11ONEELEVEN You don't like soccer. Join 98% of the rest of North America. Am I supposed to be offended or something? I'm sorry I don't like a sideways toilet with an H in it. Just don't care for it. It has nothing to do with the history of the team, or anything other than the logo on it's own merits. I'm reading lots of comments about "Oh the *insert team here* logo is too bland/simple/unimaginative" C H is the definition of bland/simple/unimaginative. It doesn't even make sense unless you speak French\know your history. Look, I respect the Habs as a franchise, and all of the history the team has. I don't hate the Habs. I just don't like their logo.

    NHL Tournament of Logos

I don't think it matters if your logo has a. History b. Recognition If the logo sucks, the logo sucks. The Habs logo is stupid, and boring. I know it's O-6 and some kind of sacrilege to not like the Habs logo, but I don't. Same with the Oilers logo. It's stupid. It's the *WORD* Oilers in a circle with a drop of oil. Lame.

    NHL Tournament of Logos

Oh, *I* know why it's there, but someone who's just starting to watch, or doesn't know a whole lot about the history of the game might not.

    NHL Tournament of Logos

The oil logo bloze. It's a circle with the word Oilers in it, and a drop. At least the Jackets logo is something original. As the Hawks fan said yesterday, to paraphrase, an actual logo shouldn't be beaten by a word. Also, the Habs logo...come on... It's boring, and to someone who doesn't know anything about hockey, it's confusing. Why is there an H on it, instead of an M? Why does it look like a toilet seat? It's got history and tradition associated with it, but it's really a crap logo.

    '08 All-Star Game

I wasn't able to find any for last year in Dallas. I kept checking the sources you listed, and no dice. From what I hear, you have to be a season ticket holder to even have a chance to go. Season ticket holders are given an opportunity to buy the tickets, but not for their regular seats, just some random upper seats. I was told that corporate sponsors and league officials and their entourages have most of the seats reserved for them. That might have just been in Dallas, but it sounds about right for the way the league treats the average joe fan.

  17. I think you're wrong on Houston. They have the Texans for cripes sake, and people still go to the games in droves. They (I include myself, even though I don't live there) supported the Oilers for years. The Houston LAstros have always had awesome fan support as well. I went to an Aeros game (the AHL affiliate of the Wild) game last year against the Griffs, and the place was packed. Maybe not a sellout, but it was pretty close. Houston actually would probably be a pretty good market.

So what's the deal with this chacha search engine thing i keep seeing mentioned? is it supposed to be better than google, er what?
  19. Geeze..all these conspiracy nuts are really making this alot more difficult than it should be. Bettman was not the deciding factor in this. Leipold decided to pull the plug because Balsille wouldn't sign a binding agreement (meaning that the team was going to be sold and money changing hands) before getting assurances from the BOG that he'd be able to move the team before next season. That's not the way the BOG rules work. They have to rule on the sale first, which requires a binding agreement. No binding agreement, no approval of sale. Balsille also wanted them to rule that he could move the team before next season, and before the team was even his to move. The BOG cannot rule on a move for a team in the same session they approve a sale, and they definitely won't rule on a move without even a binding contract. Balsille is a whiner, nothing more. Ends do not justify means.
  20. Quebec and Winnipeg have already proven they cannot support a franchise. Why move a team from Atlanta, where they actually do have pretty good attendance numbers? Won't we be having the same argument again 9 years from now when the Winnipeg Thrashers can't draw flies and are about to fold?

SHHHH... Guys, sticknmove actually IS Norton. Check the Sharks Sign Norton thread on page 2.
  22. F respect for the rules or anything, right? As long as He's Canadian and a billionaire, he should be able to do whatever he wants, and screw tradition and the rules. God forbid a spoiled billionaire can't get his way, even if he tries to throw money at the problem. I think everyone is being blinded by their hatred of Nashville as a market\team. Think about if Balsille was attempting to take the Blackhawks to Hamilton instead? I mean, who cares about tradition and the rules right? He'll make the Hawks a good Canadian franchise, right? I don't have anything against another team in Canada, but I'm also not blind to the fact that Balsille has gone about this the wrong way TWICE now. If he's not yet, he may have screwed himself out of ever owning an NHL franchise.

    LGW Fit Club

I'm on day 4 of Atkins, again. It seems to be working pretty well. Hopefully I'll be able to shed the weight I regained since I last dropped off pretty soon (within a month or two). I really miss bread and pasta and such, but I know I can do it. I need to drop around 30 lbs (at least I did when I started. I haven't weighed myself yet) My main problem is when I finally lose all the weight, and get off the diet, I gorge on everything i couldn't have when I was on.
