Wow. Seriously, this has to be Norton for real. I don't remember seeing anything remotely like this level of defense for a mediocre player ever before. Brad Norton got into fights. Not sure if that was the only job he was hired for, but he sure did get into fights. That's all he did. It's debatable how he did in those fights, but he did drop the gloves, and then go sit on the bench for the rest of the game. To me, if the coach won't put you in, other than to get into a fight right off the faceoff, and then go sit back down, it's kind of an indicator that you're not really good for anything else.

I really don't mind if a book is spoiled for me. I saw that video long before I read the book, and it didn't affect my enjoyment at all.

They're not terrible, but there's definitely room for improvement. It does look like they're wearing bra's, which is pretty funny. I, also, am getting scared of what they're gonna do to the Wings' jerseys.

I don't know if it would be that easy. For some reason, the Wings have a tendency to play down to teams that aren't as good. It's like they say "Meh, it's Columbus..let's mail this one in. We still have a chance to win just jacking around." You also have to take into consideration that they might be really good the first few years in the East, and then their game would dip to the Eastern level, and they'd just become another weak East team for the WC teams to beat up on. I'll take the brutal travel schedule, and the tough conference over watching the Wings turn into the Canes anyday.

I really think it's the playground. The fact that it's cheap, so parents are more willing to stop there then Chuck E Cheese's or wherever else has a playground.

The NHL did NOT stonewall Balsille. Balsille wanted to just throw money and sidestep all the rules the BOG has set up. As many have said on here, the BOG cannot rule on a Sale without a Binding Agreement (which Balsille and Leipold did NOT have in place) and they cannot rule on a team move in the same session as they approve the sale. If Balsille had just played by the rules, he'd have his team. It would be in Nashville for at least a couple more years, but it would be his team. Balsille thinks that since he's rich, he can have whatever he wants when he wants it, and screw the rules. Unfortunately, the NHL was not being cooperative, and Balsille took his ball and went home. Not sure how the BOG telling Balsille that no matter how much money he has, he still doesn't make the rules, and Balsille giving up = the NHL politically stonewalling.

I refuse to eat McDonalds hamburgers. I don't know why, they're just gross. I always go with a chicken product (nuggets, spicy mc chicken, chicken wrap) when I'm forced to eat there. I have a 3 year old who loves "Ronal Adonal's" so that happens quite a bit.

So when are they going to open a Tim Hortons in Austin, TX. That's the thing I think I miss the most about being in Canada. I spent most of the summer last year in Ottawa (even saw Ottawa get eliminated from the playoffs by Buffalo) and I really got attached to Timmy's. They're owned by Wendys I think, so I want a Timmys near me. mmmm...double double and some tim-bits

Cool. The Ice Bats become an NHL team? Count me in! I agree with some of Hank's suggestions, but probably none of them would go through. 10 Owners and cities lose their teams? I don't think that would ever happen, even if Jesus was commisioner. Same with 65 game seasons. The owners would lose so much money on that, they'd never let it go through. I think both 5's and 6's by Hank are great ideas, and have promise. Yzerman for Commish!

Actually, Leipold cancelled the sale with Balsille I think, either because 1. Balsille lied to him and told him he wasn't moving the team, and then promptly started making plans to move them OR 2. Balsille was making waves with the BOG and Leipold saw that the sale was having less and less chance of actually going through. That's just what I remember, and it might be a little off. I have a good friend from the area that lives here in Austin now, and he's a huge Preds fan.

Awesome, a book thread! Lately, I'm on a Dean Koontz kick. I've been reading these really dense and long fantasy books that took me 3 weeks to read. I blast throguh the Koontz books in like 2 days, so I've been reading them as kind of a break. Currently in the middle of Brother Odd, the 3rd in the Odd Thomas series.

Well, we haven't gone in a while. Having a baby kind of put a damper on the whole situation. We always talk about going though, just need to find the time. It's not easy to find someone willing to watch a 2 year old.

The other issue with a team in Vegas is who would the fans be? I'm sure there are a few die-hard transplants that live in the area, but with the main business being tourism, wouldn't that make for some of the type of games Gretzky whines about in Phoenix? Games where fans of the opposing team dwarf the number of home team fans?

OK that Playboy thing was a bit odd. But tell me, is this odd? My wife likes to take me to strip clubs, and used to drag me there when her friends were dancing. Is that strange, or just awesome?
