I heard on the XM Hockey channel that the NHL has officially told Tretiak that they're not interested in this.

Christ, just drop it. Poor poor Sergei. :violin: People are going to continue to boo, so there's no reason to cry about it. If you bought your ticket, and go to the game, you have the right to boo whatever you want. Maybe people just boo Fedorov because it's fun. Maybe they're joining other people who started the booing. Who cares? Feds played for our Cup winning teams, and was a hell of a player when he was here. Great. He plays for our opponents now, so he's fair game for booing. You know, I bet there are people who boo Avery, or Dandenault, or Shanny. It may not be a large portion of the crowd, but I bet it happens. Lighten up. I don't even have hard feelings towards Feds, but I sure as hell don't want to see him succeed at the expense of my team.

Booing is fun. Booing is part of the game. Booing a former player when he plays your team is part of the fun. Feel free to cheer Feds when he scores game-winners against any of the other 28 teams in the league, no problem. Fedorov is a legitimate threat to score against any team, especially Osgood, since he knows Ozzie so well. I really don't understand the whole "look what he did for us in the 90's" attitude. He's not here now. He plays for a division rival. He deserves to be booed. Do you guys mean to tell me that if somehow Fedorov, Shanny, Mac, Lapointe, and Aaron Ward all started playing for the same team, you'd be glad everytime they beat us, because of what they did in the past? *edit..forgot a punctuation mark

Granted, I've only seen Liv play in one game, and that was back towards the beginning of the season, but I thought he had the potential to be a good NHL goalie. The main problem I had with him was that he gave up too many juicy rebounds, which caused him to have to make way to many insane saves on 2nd and 3rd shots. As someone above mentioned, he did seem to rely too much on reflexes.

Take this for what it's worth (it IS Eklund after all) but it does sound feasible. A source told me yesterday afternoon that word among some of Datsyuk's friends are that his dream is to play with Ovechkin and that he may take a bit less money to make it happen. The source also added, "The price that Datsyuk is giving the Wings right now is extremely high. This could be to bide time and see if the Caps are willing to get into this come July" It should also be noted that Ted Leonsis, the extremely progressive owner of the Washington Capitals, recently went on record saying that the team is preparing to make a very big splash this off-season. Datsyuk is a splash. Again, it is Eklund, but interesting food for thought anyway.

ANOTHER penalty?

Where's Calder?

doesn't Maltby suck? how did he score?

So is Forsbeg the newest Kariya sister?

There's no way the league would do this. If any team is moving to the Eastern Conference, it would be Columbus, since they are farther East than the Wings. Besides, I can't see all the Western Conference owners giving up the cash cow that is the travelling Wings show. Bunk, I say.

Just putting this out there, but it seems to me that if I was suing someone for the ending a career I wasn't particularly successful at for more money than I would have earned for a 20 year career, I would really take my time trying to "come back" even if I was healthy, knowing that my case would be substantially weaker if I started playing again, thereby demostrating that I hadn't suffered a career ending injury. Wonder if after the dust settles, and Moore gets his money, if his post-concussion symptoms go away.

If Dats will come back at the right price, I would welcome him back. I really want to see Calder back next year. He's exactly the type of player we need. Bertuzzi remains to be seen how he does this season, but if the price is right, bring him back too.

Fruitoo.. that makes me laugh for some reason.

I like that idea. Someone get Bettman on this immediately. I have a Preds fan buddy that would die a little if this happened. Would be hilarious.

Nosir. I don't see it.

I just don't understand why people make such a big deal about this. I understand that it was a cheap shot, and may have ended Steve Moore's career, but it was all a freak accident that happened during something that happens almost all the time. 9 times out of 10, if someone gets decked out there, they don't go out like a light, and crash head first into the ice. Even when they do (See Chris Drury getting laid out at the Sabres/Sens game a couple of weeks ago) the injury is not that severe, and everyone forgets about it. Yes, Bertuzzi was stupid to go after Moore..Moore obviously wanted no part of that fight. Bert continued to push it, and with a seemingly innocuous punch from behind, history was made. It happens..athletes let their emotions get out of hand all the time, and bad things can happen. It doesn't mean Bertuzzi's a scumbag. How many dirty cheapshots did he have before then? I mean, by the logic being used, Sterling Marlin, the NASCAR driver, is responsible for the death of one of the greatest NASCAR heroes ever in Dale Earnhardt Sr. Sterling Marlin bumped Earnhardt from behind, causing him to spin and veer up into the wall at 150 MPH. So the NASCAR community banned Marlin, and everyone villified him, and called him a murdering douchebag, right? Nope. He's still racing (last time I checked anyway) and noone ever mentions that he's the one that started the chain reaction that killed a legend. I think the same should apply here. Bertuzzi did what he did, and has been punished. It was a freak accident with bad consequences, and he has to live with the knowledge of what he did for the rest of his life. Just let it go already.

"So, I have to ask you? If you were a hotdog, and were starving to death, would you eat yourself? I know I would. I'd slather myself with mustard. I'd be delicious!"

In the games I've heard Mickey do, I have never heard him refer to the players from any other team as dirty. Only the Oil announcers and Terry and Pete have I ever heard slamming players on the opposing team. Sure, all anouncers are homers to an extent, but it seems like most broadcasting teams at least have some respect for the team they're playing, and don't all but call the opponents cheaters. Hell, I've heard Mickey talking about how terrible our players are playing, or that someone just took a dumb penalty. Never heard him say "Paul Kariya is a dirty player, because he dives all the time" or anything like it.
