NO way is PIT's GM the best in the league, the only reason they have all these good players is because they have sucked for so long. Good GM's find there stars in later rounds. PIT has been choosing the most obvious first pick players in the last few years. I didn't realize losing so often just to eventually have decent players makes you a great GM.

seriously not that I'm saying Lilja will be amazing or anything, man last year all year long my roomate laughed at how much I couldn't stand Liljas horrible playing. But during the playoffs give the man some credit he was playing great, if he could do that for a whole season I would take him not a problem. Also our young line is unproven agreed but to think that Flip won't do better with top 6 min then Lang did then you are crazy. Plus imagine Hudler with more min his offensive production was great for his time on the ice. I'm not saying that they are the answers but I would say we have improved because we cut a lot of dead weight. Bert as much as I liked him didn't do a thing for us except waste the limited min. he had. Lang to his credit had some very important goals but was lazy and lacked D. Calder just fizzled out, so.....

you are really going by what if's with Bert here, in the long run at the moment the chelios trade was better; thats just reality

2.5 seems very managable, how much longer do you think he'll hold out until he decides we are his best option, we can give him decent pay but he also can win the SC here

no complaints here, hindsight is 20/20 I think for the most part he has been great. Even when some crap calls or anything else came his way or the redwings way, he' s made no excuse. Which is what makes him better then ruffs bitchy ass

for sure that price is great, you say his points are affected by linemates, the only better player on the Rangers top lines is Jagr, other then that Z and Dats are better

I don't believe its because of orgins of the players. Its because not enough people in the state know enough about the team in general. Its not like basketball or baseball were, Sheed and Billups, or Rogers and Sheifeld are talked about all the time. They need more publicity. Imagine if they were talked about as much as the Tigers, Pistons, or Lions were. Mix that with another SC and the city would be back to the 90's in love with the wings, oh and obviously yes they need lower ticket prices, but eventually they will come down if people continue not to go to the games.

I always thought that Ryan Smyth was just a glorified Holmstrom, I keep hearing people thinking the Av's are going to be this amazing team because of the 2 additions. I mean I think they will be much better but 2 players won't take you from out of the playoffs to #1 in the playoffs. Also my roomate who is a Av's fan and I would venture to say really doesn't know much about hockey other then his own team, thinks Smyth is supposed to be this amazing player but I've always thought he played like Holmstrom and maybe not even as good, anyone elses thoughts, so I can smack my friend with knowledge.

yeah, Yzerman is an elite player, one of the top of his generation and possibly will be remembered forever in hockey, Smyth eventually will fade

I hate you all for not being of any help, joking. No I know Symth is better but I never really thought him to be AMAZING, and I do believe the Av's will be a lot better probably make it to the final 4 for the West if teams stay the way they are, but will get beat by any of the other 3. I think the Mule is more like a big Holmstrom, I guess I watched a different playoffs then most. Because he would not be knocked off the puck and he is good at instagating, look at the flames game. I believe he has great potential, once again though wings fans are a little bias

In hockey the players will help, in NFL and NBA the players are the ones using the weapons
