it sucks because I think everyone loves the idea of change and potential addition of grit or top six scoring. But the reality is we should wait until we can really let the season unfold so we can see what we need to work on for the playoffs, and who needs to be voted off the island. I'm sure we'll at least be in the top 5 in the west.

you honestly can't see my point? Obviously I said a some just didn't mesh, and OTHERS are past there usefulness Draper and Maltby. I'm sorry if I think that we shouldn't keep people on the team for sentimental value, I mean silly me thinking that the cup is more important then letting Maltby, Draper, Chelios, or whoever the f*** else decides they went to play well beyond there worth just keep our youth in the minors or get picked up on waivers, keep living off past success though. That is my point. I'm not asking for mass turnover but to say Maltby or Draper shown there worth for even 5 consecutive games is insane, not either one has even played decent defense much less chipped it much offensively; save 1 goal by Draper. I appreciate what each has done but there is a time when you need to realize you are burdon to the team not a help, stevie y felt he was going that route, Shanny felt the same, what is so absurd about thinking Draper and Maltby should also?
-
exactly I mean Abby had 2 in 2 games and didn't even play before the series. Also to those that say we should show more loyalty are you the same that would have Jason Williams and Bobby Lang? I mean you have to realize some don't mesh, big *** bertuzzi. Or they are past there primes, Chelios, Shanny, Draper, Maltby, if you refuse to let go of the past then you will not be prepared for the future.
-
lol we absolutley refuse to pick anyone up; oh well have to have some youth come up sometime. Just kinda wish that youth was a little mean
-
simply put I thought draper sucked all season, and was even worse then maltby. Our "energy" line would be put out after a goal and all it would do is get stuck in their own zone. I know the last part may be a far reach but the trade out of Abby for Draper was just a bad one

I don't see it, the east has gotten stronger. TO, Philly both will destroy the Pens physically so if they do make it to the big dance again they will be banged up. There really hasn't been an overly physical eastern team in a while.
-
no way in hell would I want Williams back, there is a reason he was traded in the 1st place. He plays way to soft and has absolutely no defensive skills. Oh yeah and he was horrible running the PP.
-
I'm suprised Burke hasn't signed him yet

it really sucks that our replacements won't be responsible for a single point; accordng to those say we lost 80 goals and etc
-
seriously how did we lose 80 something goals? Are you telling me the people we are replacing them with will not score a single ******* goal this entire season? Money says whoever replaces Hossa will probably score more in the postseason then he did last postseason
-
I really hate when people say we lost 80 goals, if that's the case does that mean our replacements won't score a single goal?
-
******* a they just keep picking apart the Wings, are we going to do anything to replace them, or are we slowly moving into the mediocrity department?
-
I've been up north for the last week, what exactly did Chicago do to piss off people?
-
good for him, but is it just me or does it feel like the team is kind of failing apart (I know we will have no problem getting it fixed next year) but there is just a lot of loss with not much gain, it's not the lose I was hoping Maltby/Draper/Homer retiring. I guess it could be because we are used to see our kids from the playoffs.
-
Vladdy was pretty up there before the wreck. I mean we did strike extremely lucky twice, let's go for 3
-
I think Chi has made some great moves if they are going for it all this year, though this could screw them hard if they don't dump Campbell
-
Kenny should save our cap space until the trade deadline

I think the fact that we don't have to go out and grab every big free agency is why we seem to be such a good team. We draft and develop a style that players have to adjust too more then most; our team asks more of our fowards. Thus most of the incoming free agents seem to never be as good as they were before the came. -
Williams made Kopecky look tough, the guy was even worse then Sammy on the PP. Why do you think we booted him the 1st time.
-
nobody is scared to fight laraque, if people were willing to fight Probert and Kocur, people sure as f*** aren't scared to fight huggy bear. He is an enforcer who doesn't even like to fight.
-
he sure saved Komi from Lucic last year. Yes Laraque is one of the better fighters in the league, but he in know way is an enforcer. He only fights(hugs) other teams goons, if we get an enforcer I want one who will make anyone pay that screws with our players. If we get a goon I want to get a real goon.
-
with Huet and Campbell still on the team....
-
Well if you are talking about the Pens series you also need to keep in mind, Lidstrom - played right after groin surgery. Rafalski - messed up back/shoulder, Lilja - didn't even play in the playoffs. So it's not a real fair comparision. Hell if you are comparing why not use a team like Chicago who they both played against?
-
agreed as I stated in another thread, when they were to skill and not enough grind, holland changed it up both in the mid 90's and in 08. I'm sure he knows whats slowing us down "cough"maltby"cough"draper"homer"cough"
-
I think we've had enough problems with our players hearts
-
exactly how I felt, I wanted Big E to destroy, but at the same time was very apprehensive because he is a big guy, and goes from 0-100 in anger like that. But he isn't the greatest fighter around, and Holland had to of taken note with Kopecky, and especially Lilja (who really hurt losing in the playoffs). Kenny knows fighting isn't going any where so.......... I'd also like to point out that when the wings were called soft and weak before, Kenny beefed up the roster both in the 90's and even 08
