Oh sorry I thought we only gave him a one year contract, nevermind then everything is working according to plan. WWWWWOOOOOHHAHHAHAHAHAHAAH-my evil laugh
-
SJ fans actually complained saying Hossa dove, I think the worst of the game was Jumbo Joe when slashed by Lilja, no way someone as strong on the puck as Joe goes down that easily
-
I would love for us to resign Lilja next year: at this point. Lid/Raf/kronner/Stewie/Lilja/Ericcson/Meech. Chelios retires, Lebda traded for a pick. Then the following year Lilja leaves and we bring up Kindl.

How about a 1st 3rd and Flip/Huds for Luke. Or 1st, 2nd, Flip/Huds for Doughty Either one would be lovely
-
dude you need to root for the pens because you have no idea how the Wings operate. That would set a very bad example and you wouldn't see people like Hossa doing what he did.
-
yea, mainly for contract price + I feel that Maltby has been playing better then Draper. I understand you have a soft spot for him, because most everyone loves the grind line but I just feel as if it would be in the best interest of the team. The biggest problem is that damn NTC. Oh and I honestly believe that he is a major reason why the 4th line is so horrible, I guess it's also because we have his replacement just waiting in Helm. Abby really isn't ready to step up in Malts/Kopecky spot so he seems the most likely. Oh but I do wonder what it would look like with a line with Draper/Helm/Meech, not huge amount of checking but could anyone even catch these guys?

I already thought that was sa rule, my roomate isn't even a Wings fan and agreed with me on that shouldn't have been a call considering Sammy tried moving away but was pushed in towards him, and the simple fact he was a good foot outside of the crease. But keep in mind we did have the option of replay at first glance I could see why it was called.
-
I like the 4th line better, but I'd rather have draper sitting and maybe a fan from the stands playing because they can't be on for anymore goals against then he is. I think Babcock needs to take Kronner and Stuart and tell them what was said to Lilja early in the season, just make simple plays. If they start of small they may be able to work themselves back up to the levels they are capable of; but keeping it simple is the best way to start.

Keep in mind, The Mule wasn't who he was when while stuck on the 3rd line either. Not that I'm happy with how Flip is playing, he was signed before we thought Hossa would be playing here and assumed he'd be in the top 6. So at this point it is high but if he is moved down which eventually will happen I think it could look like a bargain. Flip reminds me of how Pasha looked early in his career where he showed some great moves but could never finish. Why do you think he is under Pashas wing? I'm not saying he is the next Dats but half a season to call a player a career underachiever is pretty quick judgement.

At this point it isn't much about trade value as it is about getting them off our hands so we can bring some youth up. I would love to trade Draper and a 3rd, for Neil and a 5th. Bringing up Helm. Then trade Lebda for a 5th, which either puts Meech in or helps us bring up someone of more value. Then Kopecky and a 5th for Mayers. That way we have Malts for leadership and he always plays better when he has someone to watch his back. Plus Malts would be the 13th foward. Neil/Helm/Mayers, or Neil/Helm/Maltby. The Kopecky one doesn't need to happen even for a player, maybe Kopecky for a 4th. We get some picks or grinding players. In the end Drapers contract which is big for what he does is gone, we get to bring someone up in Helm. We get grit in Neil, then Lebda just helps unclog the d spot for us and we get a pick. Kopecky was just kind of another move to great rid of waste for a pick, but if we kept him oh well.

I wish we could send Draper and a 3rd to the Sens for Chris Neil. Then come playoff time have a line of Neil/Helm/Abby

SI: Future Cup Final to be played at neutral site?
ben_usmc replied to Antilles328's topic in General
seems like it would be harder to sell tickets -
I'm hoping 49 mill for 7 years. That would be great, puts him at 35 and can set up a better contract for his later years. I would rather it be 6.7 mill a year but I figure with how much he's made he deserves a bit more so just rounded up to 7

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.

I remember when everyone was calling Pasha a playoff bust and complaining about his contract. I was one of the very few that actually agreed with his contract(pat myself on the back) but I must say I hope in the majority that end up bitching about Z's contract and it turns into a steal. -

he could have save a lot of time by retracting his statement and telling his readers that his source needs to be punched in the sack. Although I'm arguing against a huge price for Z, I doubt he gets much over Pasha anyway for the simple fact that he said he knows he needs to leave money on the table in order for the team to stay competitive. -

There doesn't need to be evidence, it's a statement that if he is asking for that much regardless to playing hardball or not let him walk. It really has nothing to do with the article as much as it does the players worth to me on the team. Just like screw the Mule if he asks for 6 million, doesn't mean he is, but if he does let him walk. I like Z a lot but I like the team much more. He is an entreupenur anyway and marrying a loaded chick so he has plenty of money. As someone who pointed out; he may look like a hobo with the beard. He still isn't playing for sandwichs. Although I'm going to turn that into a sign Z plays for sandwichs -

Keep in mind the salary cap is going to go down also. In Detroit we've been lucky enough to have Capt.s that have left money on the table in order to keep the team competitive. Now maybe times are starting to change but if Z isn't willing to take one for the team and he's the future C then screw him. Also for those that say Hossa would be asking for the same, the difference is Hossa doesn't have loyalty to us + he left money on the table already. If Z makes anything more then 7.2 I think it will be a mistake; regardless though the blog is probably buls***. -
Did he go into detail why? Lilja and Meech looked good. I would be interested in seeing Kopecky teamed with people who obviously aren't worse then he is.
-
Kopecky was there and wasn't that bad, Meech moved back to D and is much better then Lebda. Draper and Lebda pretty much sat
-
Flip had a good game to

Do refs just not like calling things that happen to Datsyuk?
-
I still think the contract is part of the reason they don't want to put him on a line with Datsyuk. Trying to keep him from scoring to much.
-
I am the hockey Prophet
-
With him only making 2.5 million a year, he can't afford razors. Hell Z plays for sandwichs
-
Meech is so much better then Lebda it's not even funny
