Rumor Per Eklund, Wings & Flyers pursuing Bobby Ryan
ben_usmc replied to RedWingCraig's topic in General
According to Hockey fights, he gotten into 1 a year in NHL regular season for the last 4 years. I think Tatar gets into more fights in the minors. 6 in his 3 AHL regular season. -
Tootoo was a great signing STILL. I loved him in Nashville and wanted him on the Wings for years. I can't believe anyone would argue his merit, considering in the regular season with his ice time he was scoring a better clip then most of our 4th liners. People just seem to remember the playoffs, and it's not like he was given much of a chance to prove if he had any worth. We shall see what training camp has in store to prove more value.

lol 2.5 million? What's there to question, seems like a good price.
-
Yeah one of 3 forwards? Mckinnon, Druin, who is the 3rd? Also they currently have ORielly, Duchene, Stastny as Centers, so I don't know why they would go Mckinnon. Maybe a buy out on Stastny? Either way why not take the 3 1st rounder if you aren't going Jones?

Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years
ben_usmc replied to a topic in General
I really liked Flip and thought he would break out to be a 1st liner with great defense, however he just never was consistent. I don't think he is worth that money to us, because we have similar players, that are young enough to have that break out potential we never fully saw. But I think he will get that, and probably make a team very happy with his all around game. -
Signed Datsyuk agrees to 3-year extension, $22.5m total, $7.5m/year
ben_usmc replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
I guarantee you Datsyuk is staying in Detroit. I bet it's a deal from 5-7 years -
YOU may think that, and I may agree. I'm simply telling you what a lot of Avs fans believe. They think their offense is good enough, goal tending inconsistent but with addition of an elite Dman they will have a huge turn around. Also Karlsson just came out a few years ago killing it, teams have very short memories and probably see that wondering if Jones will be the same. You're biggest problem is associating the Avs with success.
-
You don't let players like that walk
-
Avs fans/team are convinced they are 1 dman away from the playoffs. Whether that maybe true or not, under those ideas I wouldn't trade a potential generational dman (who already has a relationship with the team).

Calder Cup Finals Game 1 GDT - Grand Rapids Griffins @ Syracuse Crunch
ben_usmc replied to FlashyG's topic in General
damnit, I hate waiting for game time Jurco is playing beastly too -
Nothing, f*** trading our future for a ****** like Malkin
-
Also this team will be hungrier next year, knowing they so far have been the toughest Chi has seen so far but had the least experience. For people have been following the minor league at least during the playoffs, the future of the Wings is really bright. This team will be scary with Tatar up next year, and if Jurco can continue with his playoff abilities he may force some hands.
-
Maybe a stupid question. But is there a good chance Jeff Blashill becomes Babcocks replacement, if he does retire in the next 4-5 years.
-
That 3rd line would be so fast. That fourth line should be called the black hole line. In no way should Cleary ever play another game in a Red Wings uniform.

Datsyuk: I want to sign extension with Wings this summer
ben_usmc replied to Jedi's topic in General
wow you really went out on a ledge on that one. I'm sure NNOOOBBOOODDDYYY else remotely saw this coming. -
I really like what you said about a wake up call. I assume Holland has finally realized how much talent he has stock piled in the minors, look at there healthy scratches as the season and playoffs rolled on. Hopefully he finds the right balance of youth and vet, moving between the minors and NHL. Once we get that final quandary solved the Wings will again be ahead of the curve (much like Russian/Swede scouting). people just want a youth movement. I think Cola was a beast this year when healthy and is a great depth defensman.

I guess I'm in the minority but I like Pierre
-
Hell ya he will. Brunner was great, you could see his evolution through out the season. He was terrible defensively early, by the end of the year him and Nyquist were puck hawks. Also whenever he was on the ice for a Wing to score, I enjoyed seeing him acting happier then said player. IMO yes. Hudler never really seemed like he would attempt to approve all of his liabilities in a game like Brunner. Hudler worked on speed but not on d. Also Brunner is faster then both, takes better shots then them as well. I guess I just feel he is an all around better player then the both of them, and if we can get him for a much cheaper price I'm all for it. I think we should be able to considering he hasn't had a long track record, and others to compare him to have failed (Lieno/Brunnstrom) so he won't have as much room to negotiate.
-
Not unless it was separated in game 1. Cleary was terrible all year, and needs to no longer be on the rosterprops to him for playing through so much pain though.

Signed Alexei Marchenko signs 3 year entry level deal
ben_usmc replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
I heard is he was a top dman in his draft (as in 1st round pick), but people were scared he'd never leave the KHL and had some injury history. -
I prefer to watch the games too. He has been terrible. I can't believe anyone would say otherwise, I believe plenty of people on here are competent enough to know even though his a huge pile of s*** now, eventually he will be good. But unless future Smith is friends with Bill and ******* Ted and is taking a phone booth back to tonights game, then I am more concerned with immediate future not next year.
-
Smyth by far was the worst player on the ice, in the series, and perhaps the entire playoffs. He deserves all the s*** he gets, he played terrible. But he's young and he is like every other Wings dman through the system looks like bust to most. In about 2/3 years he will be praised. Right now he should be slapped though

gdt WCSF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (DET leads series 3-2)
ben_usmc replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I think most people assumed this was going ot be a lose. My only issue is that they came out looking like they didn't want to finish them off. They were pushed around in every sense of the world. -
Did the Wings even show up tonight to play? They didn't shoot, pass, or hit. I just wish they would have completely embarrassed the Wings so they may have at least taken something from the game.
