Someone who's lazy and he sucks?
-
I have a feeling I'll be hating the Central next season too.
-
Agreed. He was my favourite too. He was amazing when Fleury was injured.
-
Me too. A very interesting trade!

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=242142&...os=topStory_nhl Only 4 years? I thought they'd give him AO type of contract.
-
I was kind of hoping he'd get a 1 year deal, but 2 years isn't the end of the world. Good depth signing. Well, trust doesn't seem to be an issue.
-
They'll overpay. Again.
-
Exactly! Maybe there's no rush because both parties know he will re-sign?

Filppula has given many interviews since he came back to Finland, here's one: Filppula haluaa jatkaa Detroitissa Sorry it's in Finnish,so here's a rough translation: Ice hockey player Valtteri Filppula considers himself a very lucky man. After being only the 7th Finn ever to win the Stanley Cup,he emphasizes that he was in a right place at the right time. "You always need a bit of luck in life",says Filppula who's currently spending his fourth day back in Finland. "Detroit gave me an opportunity. Red Wings is filled with Europeans and the team's style of play is similar to my own thoughts about how hockey should be played." Filppula signed a 3-year deal in 2005. That contract ended in a Stanley Cup winning celebrations a couple of weeks ago. Valtteri got to use his own strenghts. The Finn blossomed after NHL started to take action against obstruction. "Suddenly you didn't have to be so physical out there. Speed and movement became much more important." Filppula is currently living a very important month considering his career. He has a chance to go elsewhere, but he can't come up with any reasons why he should do so. "I have such good vibes in Detroit" He was one of Mike Babcock's trusted men. Babcock recently re-signed with Detroit and he wants to keep Filppula playing for him. "They think highly of him there",said Filppula's agent Markus Lehto, who's considers Detroit to be the best alternative for his client. Lehto has negotiated all season long with the Red Wings. They should be close to agreeing the terms in the next two weeks. Filppula wants people to know that the salary wont' be an issue. "Money won't be the main thing by any means. Detroit has been good to me and I'm loving it there." Filppula gets the Stanley Cup to Finland in the beginning of August. He promises that everybody who wants to,can come and touch the biggest trophy in hockey. "I'll bring it to Myyrmäki,to my old neighbourhood."

I do like him,but take that AO! Well deserved! -
Well, doesn't he look pleased with himself. Interesting choice by the Sens.
-
I kept trying to nominate someone else than Hudler, but couldn't think of anyone more deserving.
-
My thoughts exactly. Good luck and thanks for everything Todd!
-
Thank you,Dom!

:beerbuddy: I'll drink a pint with all of you great English fans! Preferably John Smith's.
-
He'll re-sign. He loves being a Red Wing.
-
Nooooo! Please tell me there are no personnel changes and I might be able to carry on...

There are so many... Kronwall's hits - I enjoy watching them again & again! Filppula's goal last night - HUGE GOAL,gave me chills Referee showing puck had crossed the line & Fleury had scored on himself - SCGWG,enough said Every save Ozzie made - He looked damn good EVERY game That one hit Sarich made in a SJ-CGY series (which was a great series) - Monster hit The image of gentlemen taking the Cup off it's container in Game #5 (therefore jinxing us) - I'll forgive them eventually. And finally every moment that took place after the horn sounded in Pittsburgh. - If it makes a grown man cry,it must be memorable.

GDT 2008 SCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 2
FinRedWing replied to aflac9262's topic in Hall of Fame
Yeah,Dom was happier than Hudler's ever been. He said he didn't play too many games in the playoffs, but this is a great, great win. He added that we clearly deserved to win - Our goaltending was better, defense was better and so was our offense. We dominated, said the Dominator. I knew she would. Congrats to everyone here as well and thanks for the great season. The people (especially in the GDT's) have been awesome. I'm going to work soon, remember to enjoy this moment. -FRW-
