dont forget carolina played game 7 the same night we played game 7. Also the NHL wants saturday and sunday games on NBC because the ratings are much better than versus. and plus concerts/ other events get scheduled in the arena. and i dont think bettman has much to do with the scheduling, besides maybe saying dont let them play on the same night and try to get saturday and sunday games in.

Cam Ward is the only goalie in the NHL I would want instead of Osgood. he has never lost a playoff series, he has a conn smythe, he has a cup, he is 4-0 in game 7s, and he always comes up big in clutch situations (except on the 3rd goal tonight, but every goalie gives up one they want back). but on the other hand, ozzie has 3 cups, most wins in wings history, top 10 most wins in nhl history, 2-0 in game 7s and shouldve won a conn smythe last year if not for zetterbergs complete domination of crosby so i guess out of 30 starting goalies, 60 including back ups, in my opinion when regular season and playoffs are taken into account, osgood is a close second to cam ward. too bad my opinion means nothing. p.s. our "weakest link" is a 3 time cup winner who has been lights out for 6 straight series. i think ozzie being our weakest link should be an argument for why we repeat as cup champs! p.p.s. this is all coming from a guy who wanted ozzie banished from all things hockey when he let up that langenbrunner goal (dont talk to me about game 7 i thought that was a fluke!) and i celebrated when the islanders picked him up off waivers! but now, after last playoffs im all over the ozzie bandwagon.

im a little confused at what this was inferring? are you saying you think varlamov played well? his team sucked and no goalie wouldve given them that win, im just saying he has been awesome these playoffs but he was off his game today. the second goal was terrible, and the 3rd and 4th were both the same thing. and at the NHL level you should save a wrist shot from the top of the circle with no traffic in front.

Mike Brown, not even fined when brasher gets 5 games for a similar play. you can say theres no motive (which i disagree with) but there is a lot of evidence suggesting at least some favoritism.

if osgood saw as many shots as other goalies hed probably have a better percentage. osgood has always cared about 1 thing- winning. i bet hes the first one at the rink and last one to leave. he will do what he has to do to help this team win back to back cups. hes not a flashy goalie and he never has been. hes not gonna go down as the best goalie of his era, but he is a winner and you guys cant deny that. let him work it out not so that in the playoffs, when it all counts, he will be what he was last post season.

in the NHL next season because of the salary cap. economy goes down, revenues go down, salaries go down. its simple. In the NFL probably never.

Well, the owners told Bettman, we cant be competitive on our own. We can't run our own team. Please punish the good teams that build themselves the right way and have dominance as well as longevity. The salary cap wouldnt fix this overnight, so the officiating is just creating more "competitive balance" as Bettman calls it. Also, the NHL only cares about new american audiences. When we (the die-hard fans around the league) came back in droves after the incompetent owners locked out a year of hockey we showed them they could do whatever they want and we will still watch hockey.

Do you think its possible for Franzen, Hossa, and Zetterberg to take a really big discount to stay here? Hossa turned down over 70 million! Zetterberg is being ripped off like none other though. he should get a-rod money! I just thought of something...what if Zetterberg signs a 20 year deal worth $100 million. Thats a $5 million cap hit. Well front load the hell out of it like lecaveliers contract so 10-15 years from now he retires and he comes off the books. The only risk is if he isnt worth a $5 million cap hit 10-15 years from now.

Lidstrom is boring. Yzerman was boring. It has nothing to do with their style of play. Its all about personality. ESPN did this to sports. People like to talk about Chad Ocho Cinco and Terrell Owens. They like steroids. They like all the controversy. How boring would it be if every hour of every day all you heard was "In sports, Lidstrom lead by example on the ice scoring 2 goals while accumulating 0 penalty minutes. He told his team were gonna be classy and not goon it up. In a related story, there has been 0 use of steroids or other illegal drugs in every sport and no prima donna wide receivers changed their name." Why do you think sean avery is so famous? because he can score like gretzky and fight like probert at the same time? NO! its because hes says and does stupid things. the stars will figure that out soon if they havent already. Its the same reason why sports writers almost never Joe Sakic yet the Bertuzzi incident is still being talked about.

you know the wings started 05-06 4-1 with 22 goals for and 13 goals against (124 points, 1st in NHL, lost in 1st round) 06-07 3-1-1 with 14 goals for and 9 goals against (113 points, t-1st nhl(sabres win presidents on wins, lost in conference finals) 07-08 with a 3-1-1 record with 16 goals for and 11 goals against (115 points, 1st in NHL, won stanley cup) this season they are 3-1-1 with 16 goals for and 14 goals against. We usually take a week or two to get in the swing of things. i dont think drake will be missed too much as the season progesses, i hate to say it. The playoffs may be a different story, however.

isnt ovi the only player in nhl history to win 4 major individual trophies? I'd say that thats gonna be really hard to accomplish this year. And as much as i hate to say it, i think crosby will be better this year.

i think the kings are the only team that makes sense. isnt bernier supposed to be the future? id think they want him logging big minutes in the AHL and not destroying his confidence in the NHL but stranger things have happened. Have labarbera back up khabby instead.

i remember a couple seasons ago kronwall got injured vs the avs in a preseason game and i was pissed. i could only imagine how pens fans feel because gonchar is a lot more important to that team than kronwall was to detroit.

i cant say he should or shouldnt have a retired number because my hockey knowledge begins from 1993 until today. all i know is that illitch should have the right to unretire a number and if you retire aurie, who else do you have to retire? i think it opens a pandoras box.

I don't think the wings have this problem. They are always good for great regular seasons. I cant see the wings pulling a tigers and stumble out of the gate and never reach their hype.
