If Sundin comes to the wings, the things babcock could throw out there would be incredible. Keep ZDH together and go Franzen-sundin-hudler or filppula, or he could reassemble the 2 kids and a goat line but with sundin replacing hull, or he could finally break up zetterberg and datsyuk, and the powerplay would be awesome AND sundin could replace sammy as the 2nd pp unit defenseman. Id be ecstatic of sundin comes to detroit, but if he doesnt, i hope he signs somewhere where he finally has someone to play with. could you imagine how he would do with some help?

my only worry about kolzig is hes going from no spotlight, 40 shots a game, 60 games to detroit who loves to hate goalies, 20 shots, and 40ish games. id like to have him but its interesting to see if he can adjust. as for emery, hes a nutjob and a cancer in ther locker room. i wouldnt even sign him in nhl 08. the reward is high because of his skill but the risk is too high, especially considering holland rarely takes risks.

all i know is, and im sure this will never happen, but if stuart doesnt resign, i want campbell i DO NOT want naslund or emery i wouldnt mind kolzig, orpik, sundin as for the rest of the NHL, i hope the rangers tone it down and let guys like dubinsky (sp) get playing time. and i hope chicago gets better because that was a fun rivalry when i was growing up, and lastly i want to see jagr retire as a penguin

Honestly, how much do you think burke could have gotten for bryzgalov? A back up goalie playing in front of one of the top defenses in the NHL. Also, when you have 3 goalies and you obviously arent trading a conn smythe winner and the guy that basically won you a cup months earlier and it wouldnt make sense to shop the 3rd stringer around with no trade value, that basically means its a buyers market for bryzgalov, because the league knows regardless he is leaving the team. Then, the teams that need a goalie probably pick 1st on the waiver wire, so a team like LA or phoenix could say they arent interested so they can get him for free. its riskier, but it could happen. Basically, long story short, dont criticize his move on bryzgalov. if he could have gotten something he would have. As for trading giguire. If he did that and they lost in the 1st round, burke would never be employed as an NHL GM for the rest of his life.

therrien's first move was calling his defense a group of sissies. That alone probably steers players away. Then he didnt play roberts in key situations when he wasnt scratched. Why? i dont know? especially since roberts crashes the net while the rest of the team hangs out at the goal line beside the net. Taking Fluery to arbitration could possibly piss off some players. Also, i heard from somewhere that the team was upset at therrien whining about obstruction and goalie interference and finally, after all the heat malkin took (im not excusing him, he blew for the SCF) he might not want to go back to pittsburg

A few things, Z isnt the player vinny is, imo. I think z is worth between 7 and 7.5 and this signing only proves it to me. I think St. Louis is pretty much out of tampa now with Stampkos, Prospal, and Vinny, unless the cap continues this trend and is around 60 mil when st. louis contract expires. if the cap continues to go up and is at 64 about 6-7 years from now, this is a good signing. if it stays at 56 or drops, this can potentially hurt the bolts. I hope they address long term deals in the next CBA. Say revenues go down and the cap goes back to 51, tampa is royally screwed. Also, say revenues go up and the cap is at 66mil and the basement is at 50 mil. i think a lot of teams would operte in the red if they had to spend 50mil on player salaries.

how does this not go to mcphee? He made the best mid season coaching change i can remember, he had a great trade deadline without giving up anything. huet isnt a rental and fedorov would be stupid to leave. and after this current post season and draft, i bet everyone jumps on this guys band wagon. As huge as bruce was in turning the caps season around, i think mcphee just as big for a.) signing bruce and b.) his deadline transactions.

Honestly, i think hed get less than 2. he might be worth 2 but holland is crazy at getting these guys to sign rip off contracts (z, osgood, franzen) I wouldnt be at all surprised at a 4 year $7.5M simply based on the fact that holland is great at getting a hometown discount. especially if its like $1.25 in year 1, 1.65 in year 2, 2.1 in year 3, and 2.5 in year 4 or something.

If he stays in CA, the demand goes potentially from 30 teams to 3 teams. Supply is constant, demand is drastically lowered, so price also drops. Even if you say the supply is greater now simply because he played out of his mind and won a cup, it still wouldnt be 10 times the value at the start of the season. If neids retired he will turn 35 during the league year (it starts july 1st i believe) amd not before the league year starts. if a player over 35 signs a contract and retires he counts on the cap, im not sure how it works if he retires before he turns 35 but subsequently turns 35 during the season. i know if he clears waivers and plays in the AHL he wont count against the cap, but im not sure if its the same for retiring.

They cleary want to go in the offensive direction. Theyve spent years drafting forwards. Hell, they just traded a lot to get hossa. you dont just all of the sudden say hey, you know what, lets change our mind, lets waste all of our investments, and lets go in the defensive direction. I think both the rangers and the penguins showed that you dont need stellar defensemen, you need stellar team defense. if your forwards are responsible and your defense is responsible, and you limit mistakes, but have fleury there to back you up when you do make mistakes, i think youll be alright. This reminds me a lot of the tampa bay situation with their big three, but if the penguins spend closer to the cap i think theyll be fine. the cap is supposed to go to 56 mil. if theyre willing to spend the money i think they can take the east again

wouldnt the wings be better off playing leino in the AHL instead of on the 4th line? Im most likely wrong, but isnt 15-20 minutes of AHL experience a night better than 5-7 minutes of NHL experience a night?

can someone please answer this question. Why was ribiero driving to the puck that hard after the game ended? i just dont get it! did he think they were gonna score with 4 seconds left with a neutral zone face off and with 2 guys in the box? and this happened right after ott mugged draper. does any else think tippet said send a message for next game? how does he get off scott free after that terrible display of poor sportsmanship? and as a side note. if you get rid of that instigator rule, who thinks ribiero doesnt touch osgood, or go after the puck when the game was over?

Honestly, im sick of this. Its at the point where i just want to watch the highlights after the game. Is Doc Emerick a play by play guy or another commentator? these guys NEVER explain whats happening in the game. they talk about stupid s*** that no one wants to hear. their sounds of the game is the dumbest thing ever. all it is is skate scraping the ice, someone yelling lets go boys, and then a whistle. Their intermission show is two guys talking about how the best team in the regular season and 10-2 in the playoffs doesnt have what it takes and they didnt beat their opponents, their opponents lost it for themselves. and they are lucky, and holmstroms goal shouldnt have counted. yzerman also won more stanley cups, he played much of his career with nagging injuries, and he has shown much more perseverance and dedication than sakic ever could. yzerman only missed the playoffs twice, sakic did 6 times. sakic only scored 50 goals twice, he never got close to 150 points, he never got 90 assists, going from sakics rookie year until the 1st lockout in 94 yzerman was far and away the better player and he was past his prime. sakic was in his prime. obviously im extremely biased but i just cant see how anyone can win the argument that sakic was better than yzerman.

is it really uncommon to get out hit when you have the edge in shots by over 30? the wings are puck possession. you get hit when you have the puck and you cant hit when you have the puck. therefore, the wings are getting "pushed around." because nashville has more hits. alternatively, nashville has done nothing to take the wings off of their puck possession style, so in essence, their game plan (hit, hit, and hit) could be rendered useless.

im not sure when, but on xm home ice bettman spends 1 hour answering calls from fans around north america. i say we all call in, one of us is bound to get through, and ask him how someone swinging an octopus is harmful to the NHL

call it superstition, coincidence, or simply the fact that the two teams dominated the league for a decade but the red wings have not won a stanley cup since the avs relocated except when the wings eliminated the avs. Ill root for them so we can beat them en route to a stanley cup, because any other way woudnt seem right.
