Marty cutting the net off the pipes was hilareous! Most winning goaltender of all time (and I no longer have to even think about Wah when I say it!) Briliant!

Thanks for posting this link, I really wanted to watch this but missed it when it originally aired! It was VERY interesting to hear what some of the ex-fighters had to say, looking back at the game. Click the "Watch full episode" link on the right hand side of that page to watch it online.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games
VikingMark replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I agree with the majority of the posters in this thread. I caught the game on center ice, and quickly began to hate the camera angles used. As it was previously stated, those additional angles are wonderful for replays, but horrible for attempting to watch the game as it progresses. It seemed to me that the LA broadcast was a little too in-love with the new camera angles, and simply refused to ever show the traditional, center ice, nosebleed pov, camera. Also, while some of the angles actually were nice to see during play (corner scrums) the broadcasting crew did not move the camera fast enough to follow the play (or the puck) and did not cut away to a better angle quickly enough (thus leaving the feed on the now poorer angle far after the play had left that area.) As the OP stated, maybe the technology will catch up, and allow a broadcasting team to someday actually use those new camera angles effectively to enhance the viewing of a game of hockey. For that to happen, however, will require better speed and control from the camera operators, and a director that will effectively cut back to the traditional camera for any portion of play that isn't actually improved by one of the new angles. Just my opinion, (back to lurking in the shadows) .. -
I was at that game, in San Jose, when Sharkie got caught up on his line attempting to rappel down from the ceiling to "hang" a Red Wing jersey over the ice. It was very funny, with even some minnows (Shark Fans) giggling about it at the time. The best part about that incident live, was the "CUT THE ROPE!! .. CUT THE ROPE!!" chant that we Red Wing fans had going. Delayed the game for over 20 minutes, and there never was a fine to the orginization for the delay. Another little fun fact was that the very next season, Sharkie tried it again! This time the jumbo-tron showed the incident from the previous season, then Sharkie rappelled down from the ceiling again. Dissapointingly, he didn't get stuck again, but his attempt to attach the Red Wing jersey to the "hanging rope" was still very fumble-fingered (or maybe that's fumble-flippered?), took a few minutes longer than expected, and never really did look all that intimidating. All in all, the funniest start/preshow to a hockey game I've ever seen. The tripping onto the ice incident last night was amusing, but it doesn't compare to the 20 minutes of chanting and laughing we had in San jose that day. P.S. Sharkie (the main guy who dresses/plays as the mascot) still reacts very STRONGLY whenever the phrase "They should have cut the rope!" is mentioned around him!

My favorite chants heard in Joe Louis Arena .. "Na na na na, Na na na na, Hey hey hey, Goodbye!" & "We are the Champions!" If I hear the former 3 times, and the latter once, in JLA this spring .. I won't care how quiet it is the rest of the time. (though I am still partial to the "Kill Pronger, Kill Pronger!" chant the Ducks fans use .. I just can't figure out why they start and end on the wrong words ..)

Ja, the channel just cut feed, 'cause it was supposed to start the SJ game, which is blocked out ...

Active Players that played for Detroit in 1997 that could legitimately be acquired to help now (or, more correctly, at the trade deadline); Fedorov! He'll make a great offside winger for Dats! A 1997 Player that was magically sent through time directly following the Cup win, excluding only Captain Yzerman and Sheriff Konstantinov?; Saint Nicklas Lidstrom, of course! Playing alongside the current Multi-Norris winning 2007 Lidstrom, the 1997 version of Lidstrom would aspire to play even better than himself to finally win the Norris for himself! One of the two Lidstroms’ are on the ice at any time during games throughout the season. Norris finalists for the year are Lidstrom, Lidstrom, and ‘Pain Train’.

OZZY!! OZZY!! "He's come up with some gems here late in the second period!"
-
He has more legs at the start of his shifts than the second half .. hasn't been recieving passes all that well, but is passing very well indeed. He's had a couple really good chances, but nothing but the assist yet.

Great Saves Howard!!

I'm enjoying the Center Ice Online feed (and the game so far). Not sure it's worth the $150, or even the $75 it'd end up being after the "half off rebate" for Center Ice subscribers. .. but free to watch the preseason is totally worth it! oh, and a new penalty on the Wild at the start o the 2nd period!

Hahahaha! Nice one Sharks! Go Wings!
