In regards to last night, I felt Ozzie was decent, considering the lengthy layoff he endured. However, goaltending hasn't been a real dilemma for the Wings (Howard has been exceptional). There's simply not enough time left in the season to bring out the Chris Osgood experiment now, especially when the team needs the best chance to win, and get as many points as possible to sneak into the playoffs. So I'd rather see Howard in there for the majority of games at this point. Ozzie simply hasn't been good enough this season (and you cannot deny that, despite his lack of starts, and that’s what fueled the layoff to begin with), and considering the situation the Wings are in, they simply cannot afford to be playing musical chairs with goaltenders and losing points because of it. At this point, you have to stick with Howard for the majority of the games down the stretch, due to his rather consistent and dependable services this season thus far. The Wings real problem is offense. It has been a total disaster this season. Hopefully Franzen's return along with others such as Williams can get something going.

I guarantee you if the Red Wings did that to score this afternoon, it would have been waived off, and a penalty would have most definitely been assessed. There is a vicious double standard when it comes to that scenario.
-
I wouldn't doubt it. The referee near the net even waived it off, and of all a sudden if Toronto ruled it to be inconclusive (I originally assumed Toronto called it a goal for that reason), why was this opinion changed? Very suspicious. It's happened in the NBA before (fixed games), and it sure obviously happens in the NHL too.
-
It feels like a double standard really. Many times when controversy strikes on Wings goals, and there is no conclusive evidence, it's not a goal. However, all of a sudden, when the Dallas Stars run into this, assumptions are made and it's called a goal. The Toronto "War Room" is as good as the Toronto Maple Leafs.
-
So the Stars get another game vis-a-vis controversy and zebras, what else is new? Just look how they won their one and only Stanley Cup. It's their franchise trademark.

Are you kidding me? What sorry ass picked this fool? Pardon the french, but it's well deserved when discussing this dolt of an official. He was considered because of his performance over the last few years? Have they actually tracked his performance? He does one hell of a job sucking at it. Someone in the organization lacks using metrics when it comes to evaluating officials. "We had to look at experience and every other element to come up with the numbers we were told we could utilize," NHL Senior Vice President and Director of Officiating Terry Gregson told NHL.com. Yeah, right. I find the "numbers we were told we could utilize" part highly suspicious too.

Any credibility this list had went out the door with #2.

Seems like the team is completely demoralized with that third goal against. Calgary is really taking over control now. Kind of tough to win games when you can't score a goal and your goaltender practically give up a goal on every third shot or so.

Kiprusoff sure loves them shutouts!

That referee needs to start moving and watch the puck better, instead of just floating around and calling everything based on assumptions like he just did. Very similar things happen in baseball where a double play is called, and the second baseman never touched the bag. Frustrating. Quite a goaltending display by the flames. 32-11 Detroit in the shots. 2-0 Calgary

Meech is no Lidstrom, that's for sure.
-
Perhaps, but the best in the business seem to find a way to get it done more times than not.

I didn't feel the no goal was that bad of a call. We've seen worse, haven't we? Ozzie is going to have to play better than that and give his team a chance to win. I mean the shots are 15-6 Detroit and Calgary is winning 2-0. It's simply not good enough. I wouldn't mind seeing Howard for the second.

I blame this loss on the Call Sam studios.

What a frustrating game. 40-20 the shots and you lose 2-1 in OT. That's hockey for you, I suppose.
