    Bobby Clarke on the Wings

I think it is to his advantage if we think about it. Just some guy rambling about his team is good, so what's new?

    Forsberg rejects Stars, Wings, Flames

if Forsberg goes to Ducks, they are seriously ecked for the future. They have to consider unloading Nidermayer AND Selanne after this season just so they can re-sign corey perry. How are they going to fit in Forsberg's next season 5 million commitment? well maybe they can do what they have done already, place Bertuzzi or Schneider on waiver. Very nice way to attract future free agents I have to say. Anyway Forsberg is going to either Colorado or Flyers. I think it is going to be with Dives, since Flyers will have to do some major overhaul to their line up to accomodate him. (their current cap is at around 56 million) He will probably want to gothere to finish his career and have his jersey go up in rafter.

    Vaclav Prospal

Ok so we all like to hear about Hossa and Sundin but how about Prospal? He is scoring about 20 goals this season. I watched some highlights and he looks like he knows where to go to score goals. He has a very good deflection skill and pretty good shooter. Also he is 6-2 and doesn't command alot of money (1.9 this season) I don't know how his defensive smart is but it looks like he is type of the guy who will play extremely hard if he is traded here. We all know Tampa will try to unload some of their players, and Im not sure if he is in their long term plan but with his age (~33 yrs old) they would likely to trade him if we offer a sweat deal. personally I would love Holland to land him here before Burke try to pry him out first. 2/5 GDT: Red Wings 3, Wild 2 OT

yeah I agree, we missed Kronwall every game he has been out, but more so last night. also with your 3rd and 4th line assessment. I'm not sure if I share your enthusiasm with Drake though. I think he should raise his intensity more to become clear cut favorite over Ellis and Downey for me.

    Vaclav Prospal

If we can get him for that, maybe that is a good idea. But Florida is on the rise and while in Tampa, there is no positives in near future. If Tampa does turn around down the road, I don't think it necessarily includes Prospal who is 33 years old now. They might want to get some prospect/pick for him because of it.

    Cleary

I think after last night, his salary increased at least in tens of thousand.

2/5 GDT: Red Wings 3, Wild 2 OT

Alright it was really funny game I think we came out actually playing pretty well. I think we were in proper state of mind not taking them too lightly. However, what we didn't know was that they were going to play the best hockey of their season. After they scored 2 goals and weak calls really let our steams out, they were just giving it to us and we really had no answer while the fans were on top of them Wild denied any sort of plays that would give momentum to go our side. I think this is where some heavy hitters would have brought it back to us. We tried to get out of the situation by stickhandlingin and skilling it without actually sacrificing any of our body. Wild were having none of it and had all the momentum in the world. (as for you CI viewers, the feed was terrible, which furthur fueled my anger) I don't have to tell you we got lucky they didnt assert themselves like first 2 in last period. We started to make some plays and finally momentum was on our side with Cleary capping it. So what can we learn from this? well it has been second straight game that teams we faced admitted they played their best game of season. So we really need to start having more killer instincts. Don't look to far, and forget about winning the game, do everything you can to get the first goal while being relentless not letting them any chance to get momentum. After we get the first goal, we should push heavily to get the second goal. After that, we should check heavily so that they lose their will to comeback and fight. (of course easier said than done but key being 'relentless for short term goal') It feels good to see we can get a win out of games like this one because it gives team a confidence down the road. But I would rather not spend those lucky coins during regular season which we will need plenty of during playoff. As for our offence, we have alot of skills going in our line up but dont you think we are maybe trying to be little 'too' perfect for our own good? How many times have you seen Wings player behind the net looking for someone to pass up the board while there is someone right in crease? Maybe instead of passively giving it up the board and risking it through battle, they should just take it to net and see what happens on rebound? Other teams will be scrambling like crazy and since we aren't really gonna destroy anybody with bonecrunching check, plays like this will bring some momentum back to us. Besides why try to beat goaltender cleanly with low percentage shot and letting that goalie gain more confidence from easy save? Let them and their goalie scramble like crazy and put pressure on them I would say. I undersatnd we have enough skills to make tic tac toes in many situation and I wouldn't want to let them stop doing that but putting it past the line is all that matters in the end. Games from now is going to battle where there is a good chance that teams will play very close the their best games of the season against us. Maybe playing solid hockey will not be good enough from now on just like in playoff. So what do we do now? Like I said, maybe instead of playing well and try to get a win, we could start thinking in short term and press heavily for first two goal (which is as good as win anyway). And more importantly, just take it to net if there is nothing going on! which will be beneficial to us for so many different reasons. Ok that's my semi rambling. Just like many of you I was so happy we won last game, heck I was happy we got point out ot it. Boy, are Kings gonna get it next game... p.s what do you guys think of Drake? I was thinking his game will pickup towards playoff but Is he really contributing much over Downey or Ellis? Maybe Babcock feels more comfortable putting him out there in more situation than them but ... what does that amount to?

    1st Round Playoff Opponent

teams I wouln't want to Wings to face are Vancouver, and Chicago. We might get lil cocky and think if we play solid we will be able to advance to next round, and if Luongo plays like a madman, it will do some damage to our players mentally. As for Chicago, Hawks will have tough time getting in playoff picture but somehow I think Toews is going to score some back breaking goals against us. Teams I would want to face is San Jose, Calgary. Altough there is almost no chance that SJ will drop to 8th, I think it would be good idea to slay the monster before they even wake up. Calgary because I wouldn't want Wings to face them after Kipper gets hot. As for ducks, I wouldn't mind Wings go against them in 1st round, I don't think it is going to make any easier or harder to face them in any rounds. If anything I want Wings to face them before their D and Giguere are in proper playoff mode. They will be lil cocky thinking they can beat us and we will have more motivation playing relentless in round 1.

    Vaclav Prospal

I don't think he is going to cost a lot. That's why I think it can be a good pickup. Only problem would be that Tampa will be asking Howard in return, seeing how they are desparate for any goaltending. If anything I say we should go for him so that Ducks don't get him. As for Hossa, I can't imagine Ducks not giving up a lot for his short service so it wouldn't be too bad in long run (which they can't sign him for) I'm stricly asking for your opinion on Prospal. If you feel urge to add your input on grit which we've heard million times already, you are free to discuss in other thread.

    Cleary

There are many reasons Cleary wants to stay here. But like article says this is his 'big' contract and you can't just say 'no' to extra mil~ mil n half. So this is a tough situation for both party. Will he flourish if he goes to some place else? I'm sure this is a question Cleary asks himself everyday. Because he if can't produce by himself or things don't go as much as he hoped, his next contract is going to be very bad. For 2.5~3 mil, there few players we might be able to get for replacement, I'm sure Oilers, Florida, Tampa will have their own fire sale soon, or we could actually gofor Hossa while that might be little bit pushing it. As for me I hope he re-signs with us and be a vital piece for next few years. Because I think he fits in well, is a good teammate, brings grit, comfortable with where he is AND this is where he will get a opportunity to really make his mark as a solid NHLer. we will see more of this as we go along in salary cap era. If player can not re-sign at a term we can offer, we have to let him go. It doesn't matter what other teams do, we have to operate within our plan.

    what scares them?

I probably wouldn't want to goto division rivals' forum. If it's someone like tampa, they would probably go 'damn why play the game, just give them 2 pts and be done with it already' other than that I can guarantee you that 99% of the teams say this before the game 'grind them into submission! play our game! we can win this!'

    Secondary Scoring Slump issue.

I agree, we have million reasons to add calibre players to our roster but the rental fee is going to kill us. If you have a brilliant idea about this possible all star player, let's hear it.

    Secondary Scoring Slump issue.

I think other team playing us extremely tough is part of the reason. Filp and others are good but I don't think they are gamebreakers. At least they are executing and playing pretty solid. Is breaking Z and Pav the answer? Maybe but I think our current line up is good.

    2/2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Bruins 1

Good thing Z's goal demoralized Bruins. I think it is becoming apparent that we need to score the go ahead goal so other teams stop grinding us heavily. Anyway, a good win for us all. have a good night guys

I can't take it anymore RE: Game DJ?

I would have to say Music is pretty bad. ok maybe not bad, but just plain old and boring. Arena music enhances the experience a lot to 'some' people and the way they play same friggin music over and over, it kinda cheapens the whole experience. Do people goto Olympic event for the music? no but they get the best available DJ or producer for the event anyway. I'm sure you know why.

    2/1 GDT: Red Wings 2, Avalanche 0

yeah it sounds little ridiculous but after the allstar break I don't think our team is back 100% yet. We played well today physically but mentally, it seemed like we didn't much fire inside. I'm not saying we played bad.. I mean we really kept Avs to outside all game long but it didn't look like we had much motivation going into this game. just another game just another points. It's just my crazy opinion.. and I don't necessarily think that we should put the pedal to the metal right now. But I hope we get back to our highest level before the Anaheim game.
