Obviously Huds got tons of skill and one of the very few, if any, pure scorer we have right now (minus Hossa) If he can somehow figure out how to maximize his effectiveness despite his size, he is a top quality winger for sure. But where would he fit in next year?
-
I thought he showed a 'hint' of drop in some area.. but he is just so good over his competition that he will probably win it again. Plus Pavel and Z played with puck by themselves in other team's zone half the game... add in Hossa and our experienced squad... there isn't gonna be much to defend. I think the only up and comer who might challenge Nick in future is Duncan Keith. God I'm really going to hate Chicago.

If we lose in the Finals, is '08-'09 season a failure?
Yemack replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
hey, don't worry we won't lose in final obviously if such scenario plays out, I would be devastated. probably more devastated than 1-2 round exit. However I wouldn't really say it is an utter failure. Sure Wings not winning Stanley Cup is always a failure in my book, but to reach the final is quite a feat. -
All the best Drake

Whether he really meant it or not.. I'm sure he is going to reflect on it alot this comming season in russia.

Hull was always one of my fav. confident, witty, and stupid.

Annoying fans - Central division losers : you know who they are - Devils : they treat you like lower life forms if you show a hint of idea that Broduer is anything less than a god. - Oilers : You can argue most sports fans are homers. What seperates Oilers homer from the rest is that they are beyond hopeless. Perfect storm formed by a clash of canadian hockey craze and small town mentality. Annoying Media - Chicago : ever watched a Wings game in chicago feed? ugh. - Edmonton : Biggest homer ever. Also they 'truly' believe in what they say. (eg) League consipres against Oilers - CBC : Simpson, Millen, Neal and other incompetents. and oh yeah, Don Cherry Total Package - Chicago : It's a bit complicated. When Wings beat them, it doesn't feel extra special. Maybe because Wings are supposed to beat Hawks. but When Chicago beats Wings.. it really gets me. - Ducks : Somewhat died down but I still think there is a payback in order for them. - Edmonton : I don't really hate the club .. except their stupid GM. but due to many reasons adding up, I feel extra satisfied when Wings beat Oilers.

now they can finish 9th and miss high draft pick again. and Gillis just gave his GM legacy a few more month to write about.

I pefectly understand that you guys have legitimate reason to be pissed. Hell, you have no idea what I'm going to say if I were in your shoes. However, Hossa is one of us now and I'm gonna make fun of people who criticize it as much as I want.. in this forum no less. and frankly I have no beef with Penguins fans, since the backlash was to be expected. If you guys are normal human being, you should call him out in all sorts of name IMO and that's what makes sports more entertaining. My main beef is with other team fans and media people who think Hossa is all about Money and wish our demise. They can kiss my arse for all I care.
-
because Hossa didn't go to their team and they know Wings are going to beat their team. I just did a quick scan in HF board and those guys were Oilers, Anaheim, Montreal, Stars fans.. plus some Wings haters. I went to Maple Leafs board and most of them seem to praise Hossa's character (other than 'write this season off already' response) Haters can all cry in the corner while we do another lap around the ice next spring.

Although I think Burke is an overhyped fatso and I rank Lowe lower than Burke. This should be fun.

they are professional hockey players but at the same time they are human. You just can't say the hunger will be the same next year. Even you say so yourself in your head, your body probaby don't. though Hossa deal was really something else and would be a huge huge boost. As for chemistry, I don't think it is something that has to be carefully nurtured. You just play and execute. If you happen to have something click, all the better. It's not like we need a special chemistry just to win some games. What I like about the media reaction from Hossa signing is that they seem to peg us down as 'uber evil empire' that should go down. We might recuit a lot of new fans next year but at the same time we will have a lot of nay sayers who will be saying 'repeat is impossible' 'Hossa was dumb' etc etc Time to prove them wrong once again I guess.

Sammy and .. probably Huds will be gone. One of Conklin and Howard will not be on our 09-10 roster as well. Also our ability to keep as much together depends on how much NHL teams sell their tickets and merchandises. So Wings marketing people should do their absolute best this season. Wings, who have a very large fan base, going again to the finals would help generating some money for the league as well.

I loved reading that as much as I enjoyed watching red faced ray shero doing a press conference yesterday. Shero kept saying 'we are doing great' 'losing marian was not a big deal' but each time he said that he was about to burst.

Sammy is gone

Bab must be in hospital because he can't stop gigling about next season.

Ive been interested in Chicago's goalie prospect. Crawford or something was his name. Maybe we can get our hands on him now?
-
I wouldn't mind Bert at all if Holland wants him but he better learn how to backcheck like crazy
-
Maybe it is time to take care of Filp's next contract?

but... why wait till now to sign? did this go to the last minute? anyway Wings future looks good
