oh man does it ever feel so good to shut Ron Wilson up. His whole 'we are too good for wings, they can't match our 4 line rolling, too old, blah blah' pissed me when the series started. I wonder what he's got to say now? it has got to be someone else's fault right? on the other hand, I feel sorry for some of Sharks player and fans, we know what it feels like underachieving. Keep your head up, you guys got great future.

Oh jesus, I heard about this famous speech but that was much worse than my imagination dale hunter's like 'wtf is this guy saying? yeah im so fired up thanks coach'

such a convincing win always feels good. esp against that cocky 'im never wrong' Ron Wilson. I wonder who he's going to lay blame for foiling his perfect game plan

part of the reason he looks somewhat ineffective is that he plays against bigger and strong guys. Since you can't use clutch and grab to hold player anymore you really have to push others around when the puck is down low in our zone. also with the fact that he plays half the game for us against bigger, stronger, faster opponents whose goal is to dump in and wear him down with board plays, it's no secret he isn't in tip top form when trying to clear the puck during pk and such. Not to take anything against Lilja, like I said Lil has been great and really stepped up a notch but if you ask him, he would be first one to admit that Lidstrom is backbone of our team right now
-
look, it's easy to spot lidstrom's mistakes. I'm not saying he is error free but look who he is playing against. one can shut down Thorton for so long and do so much against him. The things lidstrom contributes are simple plays. Yes they are simple and nothing spectacular but there are a lot of tactical reasons behind every action he does. Why do you think Wings had such long period of puck possession and had chance to assert themselves back into the game? was it that San Jose just decided not to play and let us play in their zone? our diffence corps did very very good job neutralizing their attack into our zone and send play back to theirs. and you can't deny Lidstrom was centre of that impenetrable force. (along with Cheli and Scheneider)

Yes the best D man has been and will be our captain Lidstrom but Lil has been pretty solid IMO. providing much needed physical presence and not making too much dumb mistake he had been proned to make. He still does make weak play from time to time but He definately stepped up big time and sends out positive energy to whole team. He should be proud of himself the way he plays now

good effort by both teams, esp by sharks in 3rd. Watching this game makes me realize san jose is a very dangerous club. IMO reffing in this game was somewhat weak, more so to our side but i might be biased Im also disappointed by broadcasters who seems to be really against Wings at most times. Cameramen also did he part trying his best to show Babcock's strategy during last timeout, when he kinda zoomed out when showing Sharks side. Anyway not to take anything away from Sharks, they played great. It has been a LONG long time since Wings were outplayed this badly. This is not going to be an easy series by any means.

I guess you are right. If it was Wings playing then I would be really pissed if it ends in 4 vs 4 or shootout. But I was just watching the game with my buddies who were Canucks fan and we had friendly wager on who would come out top from that game (I lost obviously) Anyway I see very logical reasons behind changing playoff format. If they do change it though IMHO it will really go against what playoff hockey was for last century. Van - Dal game was particulary boring because both played very conservative defensive style and the goalies were superb. However, at the same token, I will never forget those exciting overtime game we played against Avalanche and others in playoffs. (what comes to my mind right now is olaussson firing slapper past Roy in 2002) Yes the quality of entertainment goes down, plus lingering effects and sponsor concerns as well. But going for 4 vs 4 in playoffs.... I don't know, it seems TOO cookie cutter stuff to me.

watching van-dal overtime marathon, all i could think about was 'man, this game is really boring and im already focusing all my energy to stay awake, i don't care how it ends, just end it now!' I think part of the problem is that goalies are getting bigger, faster and studied better. So maybe Shanny should think about tweaking other rules first then tool around with overtime format. what next? rock paper scissors?

i don't know about whining but he is def a cocky bastard who thinks Sharks are alpha and omega, and will dominate any teams if they feel like playing. that is my impression. and as far as I know, there are many, many people who get worked up over for nothing. (yes that includes you.. and me) but IMO that's the beauty of being a sports fan. ps. royal sharks fans, do not to participate TOO much in what seems to be a biased argument; nothing good can come out of it here in Wings forum.

I can't believe some of the writers thought Sharks dominated us. Dominated? and they call themselves professional writers? Give me a break! Also I couldn't believe the crowds booing our players. Wings pressed very hard to the end yet they get booing for return.. wow I think those morons don't know much about hockey. I honestly think that very very good hockey was played tonight. It's disappointing that we lost.. I think we were used to Calgary's level of playing and Sharks made quick strikes early on. You all saw Wings changed gears after that but it was too late against good club like Sharks. I hope these medias feed Sharks heavy dose of overconfidence so Wings can laugh at the end of the series.
