Go Wings Go! Go Wings Go! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

anybody thinking if we picked up Winchester?
-
To imagine this guy was strugling to play well in minor begining of the season.. wonder if he will be a Red Wing one day.. and after a call up he is now playing Stanley Cup playoff and a chance to put his name engraved on the Cup and go down in history as a champion. Wow.. what a season it must be for him. This would be like every prospect player's dream
-
nice way to open the series and stalling any momentum Turco and Stars might have had.
-
This guy is just getting better and better. He is really starting to show what he can do when he is comfortable If he gets bigger this offseason, there might be a pretty good battle for roster spots next camp.
-
excellent 1st period I think we could use more intensity but our PP are just deadly
-
I don't care much for practice. START THE DARN SERIES ALREADY!
-
I love goalie threads. Can't get enough of em!
-
What would you like to hear from us?
-
I thought we outshot and put more pressure on them than they did to us by fairly large margin. Manhandled.. lol yeah. Just say you didn't watch the series.. or you hate Wings.
-
Screening is important but I think if Wings just need to score on some chances early in the series/game. Also Datsyuk seemed to figure out how Turco's brain works so it might be good idea to set Pavel up for the trigger man?
-
I don't mind we go for more toughness and more size but where are we going to get those guys with skill level of Datsyuk and Zetterberg? (or even Sammy?) Right now, the only way we can stay competitive is to scout Europeans like no other. Also our picks are way way down at draft. We will never ever get our hands on those big skilled guys. We can either get tough guys with no skill or skilled guys with less toughness. We will have to teach one to be better in other area no matter what kind of players we get. As for just argument's sake, yeah, toughness is one area I wish we have more. However Wings are in WCF for 2 straight year and the result speaks for themselves. Beside toughness did Ducks and Sharks really good this year don't you think? Actually I don't really care much for Wing's supposed lack of toughness. I wish we inject more snipers into our system though. If we convert half of our chances to the score board, Wings will school everyteam everytime regardless of toughness IMO.

I'll pretend I didn't hear that

You are right but I don't think it is unrealistic to think that Dallas will be our next opponent.
-
that is VERY intriguing However if that is any indication of what is likely to come, then we have incredibly tough matches ahead. Because I remember the series against Dallas was one of the most hard fought battle in playoff. We fought and paid price for every inch of the ice. Of coures there is no two line pass anymore and Ken Hitchcock isn't behind the Dallas bench, but I expect Dallas Stars to be just as tough and well executed team.

I don't know about Wing's cap situation well but I think it is safe to say that we shouldn't go after anyone else than Stuart this offseason. Franzen and Z's big payday is coming up and it could be 7~9 mil addition to current cap hit. Maybe after next season, we can go crazy again in offseason. It would give ample time to evaluate Howard too.

I wonder how Dabura feels right now.

Rest can never be bad. IMO it is like money, you can never have it too much but if you don't manage it wisely, it will destroy you. I'm pretty confident our coaching staff and players know how to manage it. Because our biggest challenge is coming soon.
-
It was a mixed feeling of joy and little bit of sadness while watching this game. I hope Joe comes back for 1 more year.
-
he looked like a decent guy
-
The problem is nobody wants to be the bench warmer... and someone has to be the one. If he is good enough, he can play in our roster right away. If he isn't and needs seasoning before he learns how to playin NHL sized rink against pros, there is no better place to do it than with Red Wings who has a proven track record to manage and develop their assets well. (especially specializing in Swedes) It looks like the overhype went into this guy's head and he doesn't want to pay the price to be a real NHL player. Let's face it, he is a good prospect. He isn't even a good player yet. If he wants to earn couple bucks for 1-2 year and go back to Sweden because he wasn't brought up properly, he can do that. Or if he wants to take the challenge of being a real NHLer. He can come to Detroit and prove me wrong

darn.. everytime I watch, Stars score. I better not watch the game tonight because I want SJ to win this game.
-
I thought it was Homer who was having an undisclosed injury.

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...
Yemack replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I was little surprised how Dallas played well in their first game of playoff. So... I'm not totally surprised that they are 3-0 against Sharks. I'm surprised, though, how Sharks are again no show this year. Man... those guys really need a true leader. And Stars' ability to stay poised and come back in 3rd period is very impressive. Pitt did surprised me a bit. No I didn't think Ottawa could handle Pitt but I thought NYR would make a decent match out of it. Malkin is a lethal lethal man. They have a very smart and good leader in Crosby and although I haven't watched any of eastern games more than 10 min, I think Pitt will have an easy road to SC final like Sens last year (and get dominated by Wings much same way )
