    Lines I'd roll at 100%

You know, I'm just glad, and AMAZED that we will probably have to sit guys that could easily fit on 2nd lines on a lot of other teams. The options are limitless, and regardless of who centers whom... It's a good problem to have!

    NHL Heritage Classic GDT

LOL Thank goodness Mike Commodore doesn't still play for Calgary, or I would SWEAR Ronald McDonald was on the ice!

Who is the most hated man on LGW?

I know he's not on list and has been mentioned previously. Corey Perry. To quote a blog from a while back... "Corey Perry is an epic, undeniable ******."

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Is it entirely possible that Ken Holland KNEW he didn't have a chance to get Nabby once he hit the waiver wire? Isn't it possible that a deal with another team was in place BEFORE the Wings made the deal with Nabokov? Obviously, it might not have worked out in the long run, but I imagine, an Eastern Conference team with no playoff-prospects (Islanders) OWING Ken Holland a favor come trade-deadline time, just might be a VERY good thing. Ken Holland is one very savvy guy... Just my nickel's worth....

Nope, sorry. My comment here is one that is quoted from a blog last year... "Corey Perry is an epic, undeniable ******."

    NHL Center Ice

This is going to be a sticky point, and I'm not sure if anyone has the answer... I thought maybe Center Ice would be the solution to my problem with Dish Network's failure to negotiate terms with FOX. After some consideration, though, when they were fighting with Versus, the games on Center Ice (with Versus feed) were blacked out. So, here's my question. Does anyone know if the FSN feeds (all regional coverage) are going to be blacked out? I don't really want to swtich to Direct TV, but can and will if necessary... some of the best TV right now is on FX.... Curious.
  9. Some people make Ipecac virtually obsolete. I'm getting a VERY strong message from my upchuck reflex!

    Game 3 Officiating

We all know that the Versus and NBC crews do not "like" the Red Wings. So, it is my opinion that when even the Versus commentators (and not just us Wings fans) start questioning calls, something is very, very wrong with the officiating

    Game 3 Officiating

My only comment is that I wish I had been a fly on the wall of Mickey Redmond's house last night. I wonder if he woke up the entire neighborhood? I know, this isn't exactly contructive nor adds anything meaningful to the discussion; but I'm still angry.

Has Ericsson suffered any concussions this season?

I was wondering the same thing....Why dis Ericcson, when, as has been noted above, he is playing his role well. Of those 20+ minute a night guys: Rafalski is just getting man-handled by the Coyotes big forwards; Kronwall is a turn-over machine, and Lidstrom can't carry the entire D by himself. Stewart has been the most consistant, and that's not saying a whole lot. Ericcson is fine. Leave him alone.

    Players That Are Wasting Space

If you are going to force retirement on/trade players based strictly on their level of play and level of COMMITMENT TO WINNING this season, you would have to get rid of everyone with a very, very few exceptions. Most of the roster has been brilliant occasionally, marginal most of the time, and down-right awful frequently. It isn't about blame; it's about responsibility, and that lies with the entire team. It's way too early to get all strung out.

    Who do we target now?

I could have sworn that I heard Ken Holland singing this song after failing to re-sign Hossa, Samuelson, Hudler, et al..... In this farewell There’s no blood There’s no Alibi ‘Cause I’ve Drawn Regret For the Truth Of a Thousand Lies So let Mercy Come And Wash Away What I’ve Done I’ve Faced myself To Cross out what I’ve Become Erase Myself And let Go of What I’ve done Put to rest What you Thought of Me Well I Cleaned this Slate With the Hands of Uncertainty For What I’ve Done I’ll start again And whatever pain may come Today this ends I’m Forgiving What I’ve Done!!! What I’ve Done Forgiving What I’ve Done Maybe it was all a dream......

    Your final words...

I am amazed that with all the adverstity they faced, that the Wings managed to get as far as they did. Call it sour grapes, but it is my belief tht this cup is tainted. Is it possible for anyone to play inside a system for 82 games and then be expected to play inside an entirely different system for the playoffs? The Wings have been amazing adapting to the new "NHL" with the rules on holding, obstructing, interfering, etc., and played the game within the rules that were put upon them better than anyone else in the league. To expect them to play at the same level and with the same success when the league takes the entire rule book and tosses it out the window is positively ludicrous. It has been argued that the number of power plays throughout the series with the Penguins was pretty much even for both teams. I don't believe that can even be considered a valid argument for 1 very important reason. The number of penalties "CALLED" was even, more or less. I give you that. However, the number of "UNCALLED" penalties was undeniably one-sided. So, given any given game, Detroit commits 10 penalties, and are called for 2 or three of them. Pittsburgh commits 20 or more penalties and are called for 2 or 3 of them. How is that equitable? I do not believe that the best team won this series. I believe that the league won this series for the Penguins, and that if they only way to win the cup is to pretty much have it handed to you, well, that's even worse than 2nd best. Contratulations Detroit. Have a great off-season, rest up, heal up, and I'm looking forward to another great year next year. THANKS!

    Historical Question....

My daughter and I were talking the other day about the hockey playoffs....and she asked me a couple of questions that I certainly couldn't answer, but I assured her that someone on here would know the answer. The first question was....(we were both hoping that Nashville would have made the playoffs, eliminating Annaheim...but alas, it didn't happen)...when was the last time (modern era), if ever, that all 5 teams from the same division were in the playoffs? The second question was.... in the modern era, has any team ever "swept" it's way to the Stanley Cup.... meaning attaining sweeps in all 4 rounds? Anyone who can help us out, it woudl be great to hear from you.

    Icing Rule/No Line Changes

I have been watching a lot more hockey this year so far and had an observation. When a team gets caught on an icing and is unable to change (and no longer able to take advantage of the commercial breaks) I have noticed that a lot of goaltenders seem to have equipment problems/malfunctions at exactly that moment. If it had only been once or twice, I might rack it up to coincidence. Anyone else notice this trend? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Lord Stanley's Summer Tour 2008

While it has been confirmed tha Dallas Drake will be riding on a float in the Cherry Royale Parade in Traverse Cty this Saturday (July 12th) to cap off Cherry Festival week, it is only a RUMOR that he will have the cup with him. Can anyone confirm? I am planning on going anyway, but it would be nice to know in advance.

    Greatest Sports Movie

I'm a pretty big fan of most sports movies...you could technically call "Seabiscuit," "Varsity Blues," "The Cutting Edge," "Blades of Glory," and seriously one of my favorites "Cool Runnings," sports movies, right? Speaking of hockey movies.....How about "Youngblood", bad acting and all?

    Official Dallas Drake Nickname Thread

Nice try, but a male goose is a "gander"...not a drake. A "drake" is a male duck as was previously mentioned in this thread. I think whoever mentioned that nicknames usually just evolve has the right idea. I have to admit, I kind of like "Tex" though.

How about that shootout Grigorenko goal?

Listening to Ken and Mickey talk last night, it seems that there is a possibility that he will go to GR for a "conditioning" stint. They have given him until the 1st of November to make a decision. The kid really is in a tough spot. He can make twice the money in Russia, and he just might never adapt to the North American game. The two glaring things to me were the fact that he got left behind a lot, and when the showed him on the bench, it looked like he should have been on oxygen.
