Lidstrom has broken nose - out next 3 games

It sucks for us fans going to see the Wings exhibition game in halifax tonight....means Lids won't be there for sure now. A couple of my buddies went to the bruins habs game & were complaining that there were no roster players.....only a bunch of prospects....then they said at least the wings will have some good players out there.. I said " I know, cause all the Redwings are good players" lol

    Wings RBK Jersey from China

can i hijack this with a question about the exhibition games? I have tickets to the game in halifax next week & was wondering what , how much selection....of Stanley Cup Champion RedWings stuff might be available at the game ? anyone know.... ?

Schneider waived by Ducks/traded to Atlanta.

i don't tink he will have any troubles finding a new employer. back to LA is my bet.
  4. I agree that he has the best long term opportunities staying in the Redwings organization, they reward loyalty and despite him not getting endosment deals with Nike or RBK, he is a fan fav' here. enough so to provide some smaller local company good spokeman value of some kind......

    93 to the rafters!

Thanks for the Metallica Mack_Attack.....for sure Wendel gave the leafs something to cheer about & had he been just a tad smarter & picked his spots instead of trying to be a a whole teams worth of toughness....he would have had much longer career.....c/w HOF numbers. as for the subthread topic....Feds is for sure going to the hall of fame, maybe not 1st ballad, as the ffeild could be tight....but i see no reason why he would be excluded.

    Filppula's SCF Goal

Thanks for starting the thread just so that I can see some of the many sick goals scored over the years to compare. I do agree that it was one of the best highlite goals of this cup run, but the superman style follow-thru does dress up what was essentailly just a nice deek. There are 2 Dat's from Zett goals though that had more " HOLY $HIT , did you just see that " factor to them, but I still rank Val's goal right up there too.

    Curtis Joseph signs w/Maple Leafs

I'm hearing ya Cujo#31.... although I hated seeing him as a Redwing, Joseph was not the reason the wings failed those years. I am happy he is back in T.O. where he can get the accolades without having to have a record that deserves praise. as a Leaf he can just lose & be happy.

    Malkin to LA

If I were Shero i would be looking for an additional player, but I think this is definitly a deal that could happen. Malkin gets to be the franchise player in LA, and the pens get atleast one, likely more than one roster player back in return. It's a wonder no rumours have started about Oli Jokinen for Malkin....... same scenaio, malkin get to be the center of attention & Oli would get to go to a contender in need of his services.

    Unsung hero of the season

I think Flip played awesome, & showed how he too can perform at an elite level. Hudler impressed me too, although his penalties sure had me doing some cursing.

    Cheli in for game 6?

I have to agree withsome of the above posters who are more concerned about Stuarts play than Lilja & Ledba. He seems more prone to the colosal blunders than the 3rd pairing, but likely only because he is on the ice that much more. All in all I think the wings should stick with the same line-up & continue to pepper Fluery with shots....he cannot stop them all & if he does.......Cheli would still have been a non factor anyways. We lost game 5 to astounding goaltending, not because we were soft defencively.

    don cherry

I am confused as to what thread i'm posting in at this point, but Don Cherry & Roberts have basically done the same thing here.......their jobs. Don Cherry says the controversial stuff to get the reactions he gets. Reaction for him = more veiwers = he earns more for his employer(s). Roberts ( & Malone ) gave the Mule a poke for basically the same reason, to get a reaction from the Wings....no doubt hoping to draw them into coming after him. His efforts fell short. IMO Franzen is fairgame, as was lindros, beukoboom , neidermeyer or anyone else who ever got there bell wrung, but came back to play. If the Wings want to take care of it "old school style"... then they do not go after Roberts, they simply give the green light for a few guys to let things escalate with #87 & #71 & see which team loses it focus quicker.

    Top 10 of 1989

I remember having this debate in 96 with a beer league teammate...and my point then and now was that everytime Bure got the puck...you were at the edge of your seat knowing something was "gonna happen & gonna happen fast so don't blink!" no, he was not a better player or nearly as complete a package as Fedorov was throughout his career with the Wings, but he sure was fun to watch.

Which former Wing would you choose?

Vladdy for sure & as others have said, it's not even close! He was a force, and taken from the game far too soon. I miss Feds too, and D-Mac, but Vladdy could have changed the history books.
  15. consider then that he went way over the top in his carrying out of the orders, as a protest to being sent to do such a thing, and knowing full well his days in cowtown were nearly overwith. I doubt very much that Playfair said drop someone , anyone, the 1st chance you get. More likely he was sent in with the orders to take no s*** & send a message..... but i bet they still wanted him to play the remainder of the game, and not cost the team even more greif.

This is the Wing I miss most

Vladdy is definitly missed a true PAIN TRAIN !

    Is re-signing Maltby 3-yrs a BIG MISTAKE?

STABILITY is what he represents & what he brings to this team. As mentioned already he is very effective & responcible & easily fits the budget, which will allow us to throw money at Dats, Zetts & maybe even Bertuzzi. The prospects can wait for there chance coming from the enevitale injuries that we will incur next season OR prove to the coaches that the old guy is the healthy scratch by out playing them. Which of those prospects do you think can steal Malts job ? great signing. Championship teams are made by staying the course, not trying a new mix every season seeing what happens.
  18. I think Crisper deserves some credit there actually, as he essentailly traded a prospect for a quality back-up goalie & and top 4 defenceman.... and the won the cup with them the next season. Brett may have developed into a hall of famer, but I still do not think the flames lost in that trade.

Who Was Our Regular Season MVP?

I agreethat were too used to seeing Lidstrom dominate, that we try & look for something more from him. LIDSTROM undoubtably had alot to do with Hasek's low GAA too. Zetterberg & Datsyuk were awesome too, of course, but # 5 gets my vote.
  20. they definitly have a lot of team toughness, but i think the icetime will wear their stars out in the playoffs, when you cannot afford the extra penalties that enforcer type players often get when they have to play regular shifts. Despite having some of the best icetime hogs in the game, the team lacks in that 4th line depth department, and has had very little scoring outside of their top guys. But yeah, toughest team this season for sure, ever is stretching it.

    Babs calls out Hasek...what gives?

It's Babs job to motivate & get more out of all the players. I think it's likely just a tactic to get Hasek ultra focused on his A-game, and i hope it does not back-fire & cause some rift at this point of the season.

A Car Crash In Slow Motion

Claude's multiple turtles are what come to mind! He was a very dirty player who did not fight his own battles. The clips posted are great and it sure does bring back the memories. Vladdy was awesome!
