9-10 - 220 lbs 9-17- 217 lbs 9-24 - 213 lbs 10/1 - 212 lbs Well, last week was pretty busy (on the road 4 out of 7 days), which means not alot of working out. I am just glad that I didn't gain weight! This week should be better. With the weather nice outside and no travel planned, I should have a good week of exercise. Highlight of the week: Discovering that I like sushi (well the California Roll anyway)! Keep up the good work everybody!!!

BlakChamber, Good Luck!!! Quick update: 9-10 - 220 lbs 9-17- 217 lbs 9-24 - 213 lbs This past week I tried to run every other day and do some light lifting (ease myself into it), along with cutting the junk food! This weekend was pretty busy, I had four soccer games to referee on Saturday and three indoor soccer games to play in on Sunday. I weighed my self last night when we got in from indoor and I was down to 207 (I think I lost alot of water weight lost and no dinner at that point). Thanks for the support and I will keep the updates coming!!

Glasgowcelticwing, good luck! I know that working away from home can wreak havoc on a good regiment, 8 more pounds to go. You can do it!

I prefer outside, because I am going somewhere. I struggle with pacing, but I feel like my pace has increased over the past week, I will start running with a watch next week. I don't want to disappoint myself in first two weeks. I will probably be running on a treadmill tomorrow night, because I have a business trip to Little Rock. Your absolutely right by adding more fruits/veggies, I cut out chips and crackers and replaced them with carrots and oranges. Your right about eating late at night, YOU CAN'T DO IT!!! A-b/c I end up staying up too late and B-added calories when my body isn't working. Thanks for the support!!!! For me it is all about resistants, if you don't have the treadmill on an incline it doesn't really feel like I'm running. We have some nice hills (slight inclines and declines) and turns around here that we run on/around, so it mixes the run up a bit. Agreed.

Free Press Article "Filppula is a top six NHL forward," Babcock said Wednesday. "He wasn't on the team when we started last year. Tomas Kopecky, we signed him. We were unsure if we should even sign him last year. Jiri Hudler, to me, is going to score goals in the NHL. (Brett) Lebda (25) has become a player, (Niklas) Kronwall (26)... Datsyuk and Zetterberg took a huge step. (Brian) Rafalski's 33. Like, we're getting way too young around here." Link I hope Babcock backs up his comments with some ice time for Rex!!!!

Great suggestions! I wasn't planning on cutting carbs totally out of my diet just "cutting back" (see above posting), anything you cut something total out, it is never a good situation. I went to myprymid.gov and worked out a calorie chart as to what I need to be eating calorie-wise. Sidenote- One good thing about me is a don't drink pop, I only drink water for the most part (I know I weird!!!!) Treadmills are good for pacing, so you know exactly how fast you are going and how many calories you are burning. It is also very boring. I will try to use the trendmill . . . That starts next week!!!!! Again, great information! That gives me a baseline. My biggest opportunity is to cut back/off snacking during the evening/afternoon, those extra calories at night are not good for the body. Early returns on running 1 to 1 1/2 mi everyday and eating better for the past week and half --> I have lost 3 lbs. It is not my goal to lose weight in spurts, I am looking for consistant results. Thank you again for your suggestions BRH!!! Did you have any special meal plan that you work off of? Thanks LGW Fit Club for your support!!!!!

Ha ha haha ah! Good one! CenterIce didn't make it into the budget this year, I guess I will stick with Versus (which is better then nothing).

Curban, thanks for the advise! I will work on cutting back on carbs. What did you eat in place of carbs?

After a few comments from my co-workers and checking out my BMI, I have come to the sad realization that I am slightly overweight. I weighted myself at the beginning of the week at 220 lbs. I am year and half removed from college life (which included soccer practices or games everyday for 4 years), needless to I was in pretty good shape. I was 6'3, 185-190 lbs. With get married (she is awesome cook!!), moving to a different state, and starting a full-time career (that invovles travelling), working out has falling off my priority list. The "freshman 15" finally caught up to me, ha ha! So I am signing up for LGW Fit Club!! Currently - 6'3" 220 lbs (as of Monday- I will give updates on Mondays) Goal - 195 lbs (beginning part of November) I am still young, so it is a matter of eating better and running (with some weight training mixed in). I have been running 1-1 1/2 mile everyday or everyother day for about a week. I plan to incorporate weights next week as well has work up my staminia to 1 1/2- 2miles. Thanks for the support!!!

D-Line looked good!! If the Lions defensive line can stay health (Edwards, Rodgers, Redding,White), then I think this could be a very big year. I think that the d-line can make-up for our deficiencies in the defensive back field.

What is the NHL trying to do . . . make hockey players look like football players???

Great Article!! Seems level headed!

Kira, "A Painted House" by John Grisham is good, very different from his usually crime/ law thrillers. I read it a few years ago . . . I just finished "QBQ: The Question Behind the Question" by John Miller- great book about eliminating blame and procrastination (also, it a quick read 115 pg!).

I went to school with football players that did "a few cycles" it really messed with them. It starts as a few cycles and then a few more . . . . Needless to say they became addicted to it. I hate to use these phrase, but just becasue everyone is doing it doesn't mean you have to. All or nothing statements ("I need to be a star or i'm out") are typical untrue. Good luck!

Nope. He will end up hurting the Ducks more then he can help them during the season, if he doesn't make up his mind soon.If it is taking this long to decide, then Scott should probably should hang them up. Somewhat of a side note: I hate that players like Clemens (and Forsberg to a certain extent) have set the precedent of sitting out a portion of the season "to make up there mind" (or, cough get more money cough in Clemens case). Seems like they are cheating their team or potential team.

What price range would be adequate to attend a game? Prices would have to be comparable to other teams ticket prices at the USHL Level. They should be lower then the other pro teams in the area Griffins ($5-$25), Rampage ($5-$85). The Whitecaps are in the $5-$10 range which probably would be an ideal range. Also look at comparable markets that have multiple teams - preferable AHL/USL (Des Moines,Omaha). Omaha's prices are any where from $8-$14 (w/ discounts) and Des Moines's prices are $8-$13 (no discounts available). How many games would you attend? Zero, because I live in ATL. If Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio can host USHL teams, why can't Michigan? Market Saturation in Michigan (3 NAHL, 2 CHL, 2 IHL)? Also, is there enough talent out there to support another team in the USHL? Do you see Grand Rapids being a viable candidate for having a USHL team based here? Yes, if it can be profitable for who every owns the team adn the market would support the team. Based on the statistics above, what attendance would you predict the team to have? 3,000-3,500 based on other Grand Rapids teams, as well as other USHL teams that have an AHL teams in their market. Would you prefer the team play out of Van Andel arena? Other? New midsized arena? I think to build a new stadium right out of the gate would be very risky. I think playing in the VA arena or another arena that could support 5,000 people would be advantageous. If there is another arena in the area that is between the VA Arena and a local skating rink would be ideal. (Sorry, I am not familiar with the GR area) How many junior level games do you typically attend a year (NAHL/USHL)? Zero, none in my area, but I do attend the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) games, as well many other pro teams. What other general comments/thoughts do you have? I think that the biggest point to look at is other markets that have many teams pro/semi-pro teams and look at the success and challenges of those USHL teams. Your initial audits are good, but my suggestion is to drill down in the data and look at other markets with USHL and AHL (or other pro teams, preferable hockey). Edit: format
