I never said anything about him on this board but after Game 3 I was constantly complaining to my friends about Sammy. I'm ready for my helping of crow. I heard it goes down much better with a shot of Crown Royal though. -

Hard to argue with those salary numbers. Would have preferred 2 years guaranteed with a team option for the 3rd but like some of you said I'm glad to see he will finish his career here. His minutes will go down but he will be needed. People are going down with injuries all the time so it will be nice to have a player like Maltby to plug in.

I was at that game yesterday. What seemed like an eternity to me how long it took Dats to skate through the crease before backhanding the bouncing puck into the net. The play seemed to happen in slow motion in front of me. Must have been those large Leinenkugels I was drinking. I'm in total agreement. The way the Wings kept the Sharks bottled up after getting the lead was impressive. I was expecting a stressful final 1:24

They might have a stronger economy but the overall cost of living is WAY higher out there. That said yesterday's turnout was a joke. There were thousands of empty seats. The upper bowl nosebleeds and corners were bare. I'm glad those empty seats were eye-level with Mr. I up in his suite. Lower ticket prices, offer season ticket holders better perks, hell I'd take the couple hundered dollars in joe bucks at this point!

Season ticket holders can email tickets as long as they have an account on detroitredwings.com They just started offering it a few months ago so not many people are familar with it yet.

No way. Lidstrom is the only one I see getting his number retired. There's no arguing Federov's role in our Stanley Cup runs, but he was to much of a pre-madonna and didn't show up to play every shift. My biggest gripe was his lack of grit. If he got checked hard he would just lay on the ice while the play would continue. Then surprise, he'd be out there for his next shift. Damn that drove me crazy! -

I think the series comes down to special teams. The Sharks P-Play murdered us during the season. Our penalty kill will have to perform as well as it did in games 5 & 6 or we need to just stay out of the box. Our P-Play also has to click more consistently, especially when we're at the Shark Tank.

Looking at the Sharks record against us during the season and how quickly the Sharks eliminated the Prednecks why would any outside hockey analyst pick against San Jose? IMO any series between the 4 remaining Western Conference teams is basically a coin flip ('Nucks only because of Luongo). EDIT: Spelling

I didn't care for some of the calls that Schick made last night. Too many 3rd period penalties for a game 7. Let the players skate!

I thought it was the best officiated game of the series. IMO the calls on Homer and Bertuzzi were weak but at least there were no cheap calls to put one team on a 5-3 powerplay.

Now that all the 2nd round matchups are known they should be releasing another batch of cards. Good news for those of us that have been sitting on 46 for quite some time.

Chill out folks.....Sharks fans want to play us for the same reason most here want to play against the Stars or were hoping for the Preds to pull the upset. Better success against a team in the regular season = preference to play against them in the postseason. I remember most Wings fans wanting to play Calgary in the 2nd round of the '04 playoffs and look what happened.

There are comparisons between the two but I don't think Cleary gets under the skin of the opponent like Maltby could in his prime. I also think Cleary would be more willing to drop his gloves if challenged....something Maltby would never do. Not ripping Malts for that, it was just another thing that would piss off the opposition.

Damn he's tough as nails! He wanted to just sit on the bench and get stitched up so he could try to get out there for that 4 minute power play. That's heart!!

I'm hoping the league had discussions with whoever will be officiating tonight's game and told them to call any bulls*** that the Flames try pulling. What they got away with at home was a joke. -
