Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
johnnyoski replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
Even if this is our ONLY move it beats last year's trade for Cross. But I hope Kenny is able to swing something else. -

EDIT Yup Philly is the worst team in hockey. -
Let him be pissed. He can pout and stay there the rest of his career. Please DON'T bring his whining ass here.

Williams contract = 2yrs @ $2.7 million. We would be stuck with that next year. I believe Calder is making $2.9 million this season on a 1 year contract. Wings may be looking to free up some money for the offseason and hope a change in scenery helps Calder?? Edited: Now that its confirmed. -
One of the best moves later in Mike Keenan's career....he refused for his team to wear those things.

Wings have made an Offer for Jason Blake
johnnyoski replied to russianswede919293's topic in General
Just remember they gave up Luongo for him. Management has to somehow save face on that deal. It may even mean keeping and signing him to some outrageous contract. -
This forum has been great leading up to the trade deadline. BTW.. We do NOT need Lapointe and that insane contract. Had a good shot on that open netter didn't he?

I have Nolan ahead of Blake on my list. btw...you're dreaming if you think they'll let Bert go for a 5th rounder. -
Definitely the Sabres and Bruins current 3rd jerseys.

With all the injuries Buffalo has they can move someone to the IR and that clears cap space. Not sure who he would play with in the 'Burgh.

If its not Ottawa or Toronto I would assume Pittsburgh, Buffalo or Detroit would be his other choices. All are close to Ontario.

Where do you see St. Louis in maybe a couple years?
johnnyoski replied to BeeRYCE's topic in General
Its easier to dismantle a team than to rebuild it. Depends how wisely they use those draft picks and evaluate their prospects. But there's no way they should take as long as the Blackhawks to get the franchise back to respectability. -
D is not the Wings weakness right now. Do you look at the shot totals in the box scores every night? Pretty good indication of the way our D has played. Most other teams would give anything to have our depth at that position.

Who wouldn't? The only way the Blues agree to that is if their management starts sniffing glue.
-
Believe it or not....Lang.

For who??? Why would we want another team's $5 - $6 million garbage that they want to get rid of. I'd like to see him produce in this playoff too but we'll just have to give him a chance.

Funny how important this makes Samuelsson's return. I sure hope he can provide us with some kind of spark. This injury also solidifies Franzen staying on the grind line.
-
I agree with everyone saying that was too steep of a price tag. That really worries me about how much its going to cost any team to land Guerin. Its looking more likely that we'll try bringing in a 2nd tier forward like Owen Nolan.

I wish CBC would show this game tonight instead of Toronto or Montreal.

I'm not a huge Bootland fan either but he has 16g 12a and is tied for the team lead with a +9 I don't see the harm in putting him on the 4th line. He's not a great fighter but he will at least stick up for his teammates.

Holland: Wings won't deal unless prices come down
johnnyoski replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
After last year's playoffs I think the team's biggest needs were D and goaltender. Holland addressed those needs with Hasek and Markov. I think we were all counting on more production from Lang and Williams and therefore passed on overpaying for a winger that could be on his last leg. Guerin has obviously had a great year so his stock has soared and in hindsight it looks bad that we didn't sign him in the offseason. But he looked HORRIBLE last season. Those of you who are so quick to fault Holland had better lump Bowman, Yzerman, Nill and Devellano into that thought because they all confer on any deal before it is made. -
Wouldn't they just send Langfeld back down if they wanted to clear a roster spot?

Inevitable with Howard and Liv in Grand Rapids. I think they saw enough to make a decision.
