    What about this scenario?

Only knock on him is that he's more injury prone. Not having to worry about a contract for next year is appealing though. The bigger question is what do you give up for an Owen Nolan?

    Holland backing down?

Yeah, he did get me there. I guess some of the nonsense I was reading didn't make me think those odds out correctly.

    What about this scenario?

    And fit under the cap...

    Holland backing down?

Hey guys, this is only the 2nd season since the lockout. GMs are still adjusting to working with a cap at the trade deadline. And don't forget, Holland has people like Bowman, Yzerman and Devellano to confer with. Don't you think if there was someone they absolutely wanted that Kenny wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger? Jeez the way you all lynch Holland I thought I was on the Lions message boards.

    What about this scenario?

Why do you want to replace Markov? I think he's been playing pretty good as of late. I don't see anyone here complaining about the D (Lilja doesn't count).

    Holland backing down?

By tactic I meant even if he was close to a deal he's not going to tip anyone off. Those who think Holland was waiting too long to address needs have to consider a few things. 1. Guerin came off a horrible year. The only team willing to take a chance on him was the team that finished dead last. They were desperate for players and more willing to take a big risk. It obviously worked out well for the Blues. 2. Bertuzzi came at the expense of Roberto Luongo. At that time it would have equalled the Wings giving up Datsyuk, a prospect and maybe a draft pick. The price for Bert has obviously gone way down. (Vancouver looks great right now for this trade). 3. We didn't have the needed cap space at the beginning of the season. After they moved Fischer's salary it opened them up to make moves at the trade deadline. Don't get me wrong. I agree that we didn't address some of our needs before the season but I don't know what else he could have done at that time.

    Holland backing down?

Can you give me the michigan milions numbers while you're at it? You can obviously forsee everything that is going to happen.

    Holland backing down?

    Its called a negotiation tactic.

Update on Holland's search for forwards.

Sorry guys but I doubt Schneider is going anywhere. Who would you rather seeing playing point on the PP? Schneider, Williams or Kronwall? Lidstrom can't play every minute and Schneider is the only one I really trust back there. True he didn't look great coming back from the injury but I think he's back to game speed.

Esposito on the XM: Wings looking at Tkachuk

My trade preference: 1. Smyth...I know this isn't going to happen but its ok to wish right? 2. Guerin...good scorer, fits the shanahan mold, cheaper salary would more likely allow for another player to fit under the cap. 3. Tkachuk...a little worried about his production the last few seasons and has a tendency to take penalties at the worst time. Big salary 4. Roberts...age is a factor but he is supposedly in Chelios shape. 5. Bertuzzi...hasn't skated in months. Highly doubt he will be anywhere near 100% healthy at any time this season. Big salary. I would think the Wings will get one of these primary players and then a Lapointe, Mayers or other role player. jmho

    Playoff Ticket Prices

That actually looks the same or maybe a little cheaper than last year. When is payment due for the first and second rounds? And some of you appear to be confused about the pricing. 1st Rd. $22-$63; $44-$81;$54-$99;$76-$126;$85-$144 This means a ticket that normally costs you $22 during the regular season will be $63 for round 1. A ticket that normally runs $44 will be $81, etc... btw...I don't keep all my playoff tickets so if your looking for some games I'll have them available.

Sheldon looks like he could be heading west

Wow...being a tiebreaker away from the 8th playoff spot this move would come as a bit of a surprise. But realistically the Habs will only go as far as Huet takes them. If he doesn't come back that pretty much sinks them...imo.

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

I have no problem with giving up Hudler...I just have reservations about Bertuzzi being the right move.

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

So you're perfectly comfortable giving up Hudler and a 1st rounder for a guy that hasn't skated in months?

Schneider & Cheli talk trade deadline

Huge risk/reward involved with Bert. He hasn't played in months, has a big chunk of salary left and is an UFA after this season. But Florida won't get as much for him as a Guerin or Tkachuk and it won't be anything near what Philly got for Forsberg. IMO....too much risk to be comfortable with.

    Glen Murray

If he was a 'rental' I'd be more inclined to take a chance. Having 2 years remaining at over $4 mil/season is probably enough to keep me away.
  17. Yeah but breaking up the ONLY line that is producing right now might not be in our best interest. Unless you get something great in return I think you have to keep him for the playoff run.
  18. johnnyoski

    Sundin?

I think you just answered your original question. He isn't going anywhere with where the Leafs currently sit in the standings.
  19. johnnyoski

    Roenick?

This is not the type of move I'd like to see the Wings make. 7 goals and 12 assists in 52 games? And I think those who point to his grit haven't seen him play the last 2 seasons. Nothing to see here...move on.

    Return of Hatcher?

Yeah, and maybe Uwe Krupp will come out of retirement so they can be paired together.
  21. johnnyoski

    TKACHUK or GUERIN ?

No thanks. They can keep Nolan and Roenick. Both are way past their prime and wouldn't fit in well here....jmho

New York Daily News says Schneider is available?

Even with Markov showing a little more offense lately, Lidstrom and Schneider are the only two reliable blue-line contributors. I would be shocked if they ship him out.
  24. johnnyoski

    TKACHUK or GUERIN ?

Getting Bertuzzi would bring back memories of Uwe Krupp. No way do I go after him, especially with that big prorated salary. You wouldn't be able to bring in anyone else.

    OFFICIAL: Forsberg traded to Predators

If he was healthy all year I'd be more upset that we didn't get him. The price was just too high for the risk.
