Does anyone know a good site online to buy red wings posters? I want posters of current teammates... as much as I loved Yzerman its time to let go of the past and buy new posters of new stars i.e. Dats and Zets.... anyone know a site where I can buy posters of current players rather than the ones I keep finding where Vernon is still in goal... thanks!

I can't believe you guys are not even considering signing him. He is one of the best puck handlers in the league. Can you imagine Zherdev, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk on a line?? Small line but oh so talented. What this guy needs is a coach who won't take his s***.... Mike Babcock. Zherdev could make friends with Datsyuk who is also russian and maybe Zetterberg too. I think a fresh new start on a team that is committed to winning like the red wings would be exactly what Zherdev needs. He is still young and I think it'd be worth the gamble of trading for him.

While watching the sens v.s. ducks game, and that 3rd goal by the sens was under review, i thought to myself why is the kicking rule still in place? With all of the rule changes the league has been trying to make, why not allow players to kick the puck into the net? I mean it can already go off of your skate, as long as there's no "kicking motion"..... why should it matter? I know this is just a small rule, but it seems like a silly one to keep to me. What do you guys think? edit: Kicking rule is not as bad as the delay of game rule for shooting puck over the glass... dont even get me started on that one...

If any of you guys read my post on things to do for the off-season, I listed trading for Samsonov as one of them. He would fit in well, but he makes too much money. Thats why I say deal for him at the trade deadline.

You saran... I think you're incorrectly using the term "diss"... listen to a couple Eminem albums and get back to me when you understand the meaning of the term.

that call was so bad on getzlaf.... the officiating is way too inconsistent

Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

I didn't think that hit was that terrible... the thing that made it bad was McCammond's head slamming agains the ice Eric Lindros style... -
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this one... but didn't Smyth turn down a contract from his beloved Oilers because of a $100,000 difference? Wasnt it like 6.1 mil or something like that? Seems to me like Smyth is tryin to be paid... and he can't get paid here. He would have to take a large pay cut to play for us. If we did somehow sign him I would be all for it, because people are right, he is like a better version of Homer.... but what is wrong with two homers??? Nothing. I think signing Bert is more important than Smyth.... but we'll see ho wit goes...
-
wow... sounds real reliable....

I know he wants to come back, but it's his God dame wife that's a problem. She is the one who made him retire before. I hope she doesn't interfere, yet again.

yeah but there is too much of a grey area with this rule... what is a kicking motion and what is not.... the calls are not consistent...

Ok, so you guys are probably sick of these threads, but I think this one is the best on the LGW forums so far. I have listed some UFA's that I think would look good here in Detroit, and some players who could easily be traded for. Ok so here we go, sorry if this gets too long.... UNDER CONTRACT Forwards Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Homer/Draper/Sammy/Franzen/Fil/Cleary/Hudler/Grigorenko/Maltby We need two forwards, minimum. Two D. One goalie. The wings have 10-12 million to spend this off season. Goalies (UFA) Hasek: There are pro's and con's to Dom coming back. Pro's being how great he played this year, con's being the risk of him getting hurt. I still want him to come back, but I don't see it happening. What does he have left to prove? He has already silenced critics, if he retires now, he still leaves on a high note. Please come back Dom, it would make things much easier. If we re-sign him, I bet it'll be around 1.5 million for one year. Jean-Sebastien Giguere: If Dom retires, this would be the guy to get. Of course, 29 other teams feel the same way. If the Ducks win the cup, and Jiggy wins his 2nd conn smythe, I don't see how the Ducks would consider getting rid of him. Anyhow if we throw 6 million at him Eddie Belfour: Oh Eddie the eagle.... could be a last resort for around $800,000 Curtis Joseph: How could I suggest Cujo right?? I mean he played awful last year... most say he's washed up... got nothin left...that worked out well with a different guy named Hasek... could work out well with Cujo for real cheap. Nicklas Backstrom: Young, played great, and the Wild can't handle hang on to him and Manny any longer. We could try to go for one of them. Goalies (via trade) Vesa Toskala: Still young at 29, and the Sharks have already said they are trading a goalie this summer. Which one will it be... Toskala or Nabokov? My guess is Toskala, because Nabby was their guy in the playoffs, and he has a NTC. The only thing I wonder is whether or not the sharks would trade with the team that knocked them out of the playoffs... we shall see... Ilya Bryzgalov: Like I said before, the Ducks will want to re-sign Jiggy especially if he wins the Conn Smythe again. They can't hold on to both of them any longer, so why not try and trade for Bryz? He is a very capable starter, and is young. Manny Fernandez: If the Wild choose to bring back Backstrom, then I think Manny will be dealt. He is a proven starter, and a good tender. In fact, I just read on spectors that Manny has demanded a trade, and listed Detroit as a potential destination. Only thing is that he is 4.5 mill which is a tad pricey... Defensemen The way I see it, the wings don't need to sign any new defenseman. They could actually cut Markov loose, because I think that Lilja played well enough in the playoffs to earn a top 6 spot. Anyhow, here are some names. Schneider: I say re-sign him at two years 6 million. Markov: I don't see the wings resigning him, although I do like him. 2.5 million Chelios: Def coming back for one year at one million baby! Kimmo Timmonen: This guy will want 6 million a year, but we could make it happen if we signed cheap forwards and Dom for cheap. Very unlikely, but hey anything's possible. Cory Sarich: Gritty defenseman who would look great here. Forwards (UFA) Bertuzzi: I think he is a lock to resign, hopefully around the 2million for one year mark. Vyacheslav Kozlov: Loved him when he was in Detroit, still love him. I think he would be a steal at 2million and would fit right in on our 2nd line. Dainius Zubrus: looked great with the Sabres in the playoffs, I'd sign him cheap. Ladislav Nagy: Had a bad year, but could be worth a cheap signing... Petr Sykora: Had a great beginning of the season and is a pure goal scorer, problem is that the Oilers stopped scoring goals... Scott Hartnell: Good gritty guy who could be signed for cheap. Paul Kariya: It's crazy, but I haven't heard anything on LGW about getting this guy.... he's an elite player and led the Pred's in scoring... Jason Blake: This guy is sick, and there were rumors that the wings were trying to trade for him at the last minutes of the deadline. 40 goal scorer with great hands, the only knock on him is his size.... but I think a bert, flip, blake line would look god like, dont you? Viktor Kozlov: Had a big year with the Isles. He is slow, but he's a big body who can also put the puck in the net, which is exactly what we need. Owen Nolan: Wings tried to trade for him at the deadline, but Nolan didn't want to come here for family reasons. I forget what the reasons were, but he could be good for cheap. He was 2nd on the Yotes in points w/ 40 which isnt great, but its not bad. Yanic Perreault: Best face off man in the league and he had a great year. I know we don't really need centers, but he would still look nice wearing the winged wheel. Anson Carter: I know, I know, what am I thinking right? He had a terrible year with the jackets/canes but if there is one thing we learned about Carter this year, is that he is worthless UNLESS he has two studs setting him up, and all he has to do is finish. I think we have two studs he would work well with in Datsyuk and Zetterberg, and he would be worth signing for 1.5 mil I think. Forwards (via trade) 1) Raffi Torres: 34 points last year, was not impressive, which is why he is currently on Lowe's s*** list. He's a good gritty forward who isn't afraid to throw his weight around (remember the hit on willy?) the guy plays with an edge and would be a huge asset to our team and at under 1 million, he is very affordable. Plus the guy is only 24! 2) Sergei Samsonov: Over paid? Maybe, but this kid can play. His calder trophy was no mistake, this kid can dangle. Can you imagine him playing with Bert and flip? How about Z and bert? Dats and Z? He would be great. 3) Marty Lapointe: I heard rumors that we tried to get him at the deadline, would be a solid addition to our team, even though he would be a bit pricey. I had thought of some more guys, but I just got tired. Here's what I think we should do with the 12 million we have to spend. Goaltending: I truly believe that Dom will retire, and it does pain me to say that. Anyhow if he does retire, I think trading for Fernandez is a must. Wild would just be trying to get rid of cap space, so I think a prospect and a 2nd rounder would do the trick. He would be perfect because his conrtact is up in 2 years, and we could have him start next year w/ Ozzy backing him up, then have him start in 08-09 with Howard backing him up, then have Howard start in 09-10. Cap hit: 4.5 Million Ok, so I have 7.5 million to spend on 2 forwards and two Defenseman. Defense: I liked what I saw in this year's playoffs. The wings truly showed how deep they are, which is why I think they can cut Markov loose. We need cap room and Markov would probably want a raise up to 3 mil. Anyhow here's what I say do with the D. Sign Schneider to 2 year 6 million dollar deal. Sign Cheli to a one year one million dollar deal. Cap hit: 4 million Ok, so now I have 3.5 million to work with for 2 forwards. Here's what I would do... SIgn Bertuzzi to a one year, 2 million dollar deal. Trade for Raffi Torres... perhaps Erikson and a pick...I think we lose him to waivers if we don't bring him up this year, but I'm not positive. someone can correct me on that. Ohter option, sign Anson Carter (god i'm going to get yelled at for this one) at 1.5 million. Cap hit: 3.5 million That makes the team all set. forwards (with carter) Z Dats Carter Bert Flip Clears Homer Franz Huds Kops Drapes Malts Sammy/Grigs forwards (with Torres) Z Dats Homer Bert Flip Torres Huds Franz Sammy Cleary Drapes Malts Kops/Grigs Defense: Lidstrom Kronwall Schneider Lebda Chelly Lilja Goalies: Fernandez Osgood If Hasek Re-signs.... Do same thing on defense... so thats a 4 million dollar cap hit Goaltending: Re-sign dom for 1.5 million Ok that means I have 6.5 million to spend on two forwards.... Re-sign Bertuzzi for one year 2 million. Sign Jason Blake for two years 9 million. Cap HIt: 6.5 Million Forwards: Z Dats Homer Bert Flip Blake Huds Franz Sammy Cleary Draper Maltby sorry for a really long post but if you read all of this you get a cookie! -

Grigs hasn't even played a game in the AHL or the NHL....and you have him on your top line??? That's the problem. How about give someone who has proven they can put the puck in the net at the NHL level with little minutes... Hudler. Hudler Datsyuk Bert Holmer Z Cleary Grigs Flip Franzen Maltby Draper Kopecky Those are the lines I would use. -

ahhh i was not aware of the grigs contract. thanks! So I guess he really will be the 13th forward, for a little while at least. These guys posting here and putting him on our top line are retarded.... he hasn't even played an AHL game led alone an NHL game.... we have no idea how good he will be. p.s. I'd sign markov for 2million but there's no way he will take that pay cut when he had a good season last year -

hey thanks for the responses guys. I just don't see the need for markov, i like the guy and all but we simply dont have room for him. Lilja really stepped up his play as did Quincey.... so I think Markov is a goner. As for Torres, he would fit in very nicely with this team. He is a fierce competitor.... even if he is an oiler As for the dude that thinks that Grigorenko is playing this year, I think not. He will most likely play in grand rapids or be the 13th/14th forward, because the wings are far too deep. -
manny would be a great addition if we lose dom. his contract expires in 2 years, which will be perfect because we could bring in Howard.
-
Rob Blake is washed up and costs too much money man... no good..
-
This kid is sick man and IMO he was the biggest reason the wings lost to the ducks. Jiggy played great, but without Getzlaf's clutch goals, the Ducks would be nothing. This guy should win the Conn Smythe if the Ducks in the cup IMO. Your thoughts?
-
i like the idea, but why would you have columbus in south central and kansas city in the central? why not flip the two? I also think Winnipeg, Kitchner, Hamilton, or Quebec would be great places for new teams esp Winnipeg and Quebec.
-
yes, he knows their system and some of their players. it will def help a little bit.

cherry is the man. i love coaches corner!

it used to be unless the guy was cut or hauled down on the breakaway, there were no penalties called in ot. langs call was total bs.
