I don't get why Zednik signing would mean blake is leaving... if anything i think it means the Islanders are serious about making a run for the playoffs, and they would for sure need their leading scorer for that.

Look it's no secret that we only have one line, and we all want Kenny to do something at the deadline. If he does not make a trade, then I think we definiatly need to shuffle up the lines. Obv keep Z, Dats, Homer together on first line, but why not give huds and flip a shot on the 2nd line? The 2nd line has been god awful lately, and williams sucks ballls. Put flip and hud together on the 2nd line... they have chemistry and they always make something happen out there. Currently, Hudler avg's 8:27 TOI and Flip 9:58. William's avg 14:28 TOIand if we put him down on fourth line, that could either get him to play harder, or we get to see less of him turning the puck over. I must say, I have been pleasently suprised with this team this year. I did not think that we would be first in the west ever, but we are. That being said, I feel that offensively, this team is much worse than last year. We have one line that scores, and it is the bet line in hockey with Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Holmstrom. This worries me because this line could easily get shut down in the playoffs, mainly due to lack of size. Defensively, I feel that we are better than last year. Lilja is no longer in the rotation, so that makes me happy. I think Markov is doing a great job also. Goaltending is much better, as long as Dom stays healthy (knock on wood!!!!) I think that we definitely need to make at least one trade, maybe two, before the deadline. Something like Kindl+williams+first for bertuzzi sounds good to me. Bertuzzi has the chance of resigning with Detroit too. Maybe Hudler and 2nd for sturm? What do u guys think? Is this years team better than last years?

It's likely Osgood will start next season. If Hasek hadn't been willing to come to Detroit for an insanely cheap price, Osgood would have started this season. You have to remember--Holland went goalie shopping and didn't bite on apparent deals such as Belfour for under 1m. He didn't sign any veteran goaltender until Hasek, a Stanley Cup champ, six-time Vezina winner, and two-time Hart winner agreed to a 750k deal with some hefty playoff incentives. He gave up no assets and retained cap spacee to acquire a guy who was the best goalie in the league the first half of last year. If Hasek retires for good (which is likely) Holland will probably go with Osgood as starter and Liv as backup. Howard will get one more year in the AHL and MacDonald will be cut loose. The only better deal on a veteran starter than Osgood right now is Hasek. there is no way in hell ozzie will start next season. holland repeatedly said he wouldn't go with ozzie as a starter. the guy cant even play 10 games w/out getting hurt. Next year we will land a UFA goalie and howard will be the back up. I don't understand why people think Liv will be in the NHL next year.... the guy was demoted to the ECHL this year!! Any goalie who gets demoted to the ECHL will not jump to the NHL.

gionta is a big and gritty for this detroit team. he wouldn't fit in. correct me if im wrong but isn't he the smallest player in the nhl? i guess id take him and then say peace out to datsyuk, even though hes tiny.

i can't see why buffalo would want lang.... they already have two centers in drury and briere and imo they are untouchables for the sabres. they would be in the same position the wings are in having lang on 3rd line when he needs to be a top 2 line center. now, if we could deal lang to a team like calgary or new york rangers... that would make more sense.

i dont see manny leaving. detroit has been good to him and he has been good to detroit. i dont see why we wouldnt have the same goalie tandem, osgood wont want more money, and i think manny wont ask for a ridic amount maybe 2 mil.

now i know it doesn't say anything about the red wings, but how about robert lang for jordan leopold? sounds like a good deal to me. what do you girls think?

do you really think holland is going to go out and get a decent goaltender before the deadline? if he's looking to make a move between the pipes, it'll be big. roloson and biron aren't much if at all better than legace. if detroit goes after a tender, it'll be giggy. say what you want about him, but he did win the conn smythe trophy, for the losing team.

exactly. where are people getting theses rumors from that witt wants to come to detroit? i would love to see a link of something linking witt and detroit. just because people on this forum want witt to come here doesn't mean holland is even considering acquiring him. i do love the leopold idea however. he is a great young defensemen and would look nice in the winged wheel in my opinion.
