Mule had a great end of the season along with the 08 playoffs, but will he be able to keep it up? Playing on a line w/ Hossa and Flip (most likely) should only help him produce more points. My question is do you guys think Franzen was just hot for a few months and will go back to his usual grinding or will he become a bonafied 2nd liner and score another 25-30 goals this season? IMO I think he can, I'm just not sure. It seems to me that he and Cleary have switched positions on the depth chart, because Cleary is now solid on the thrid line and it appears that Franzen has earned his 2nd line spot. Also, what was up with that injury in the playoffs last season? Could it happen again? I think it was a blood clot but I'm not sure and I really dont know much about it. Last question and I'm sure this one will start some debates.... let's say Franzen puts up 30 goals this season.... who would you rather keep on your team... Mule or Hossa? I say Hossa, but I like Mule a lot and I feel he's very important to our team. Discuss. Edit: Sorry just started thinkin about the Wings and had a lot on my mind and am bored heh damn offseason!

For 3 months, yes Franzen has proven he can score. For 2 1/2 years, he has not. I wanna believe Franzen will continue to score a lot of goals, however who's to say he won't go back to just simply being a grinder? Not that theres anything wrong with that...

maybe cheli isnt coming back? I think if he was, he woulda been signed for league min by now.....

So my buddy and I were talkin about the wings fan this year (he's a pens/jackets fan) and I was just sayin how sick the wings wil lbe. He is still salty and thinks that hossa won't "fit into babcocks system." I told him I gurantee the wings would win 68 games this season and he didn't think they'd come close. We put 50 bucks on it. What do u guys think? I think the Wings have a legit shot at doin it. Hossa will score 40 goals thats almost a gurantee... he could even hit 50. Think about the amount of games last year when the wings lost by 1 goal, and factor in the fact that Hossa probably would have scored that game. Losing only 14 games isn't that far out of reach IMO. Plus we have Stewie for a whole season on D. ps. A second bet we made was that the Jackets would make the playoffs, I said they still wont he said they would for another 50 bucks. Thoughts?

yes wings hold the record w/ 62 pts. Also consider this: The wings will be playing every team in the league and playing central opponents 2 games less. People talk about how weak the central is, but the fact of the matter is that the wings did FAR better against the rest of the league than they did against the central (i think we were barely over .500 against them but dont quote me on that). I think its a good bet but the only thing I could get screwed on is Babs resting players near the end of the season.

My buddy just called me who was at the Blue Jackets season ticket holders press conference and he said that the Jackets have offered Jimmy Howard a contract for 2.5 million a year for 4 years. This is terrible news because I do not see any way that the Wings can match this offer. It appears that the Wings will lose Howard. The Wings have 24 hours to match it. I can't find anything on the offer sheet yet, but my buddy is at the press conference and he said they just announced it there. Jackets GM Howson states that talks arent going well with their current starter Leclaire and that they may lose him to an offer sheet from another team.

emery would be a great signing for 1 million for one year IMO. babcock and co. could def straighten him out and he's young with lots of potential. if he acts likea prick then we could always just send him down to grand rapids...

I know, I know we just won the cup, if it aint broke don't fix it, but we have cap room. The second line is still shaky IMO due to the inconsistency. I still think the Wings could use a good scoring second line winger. Someone like a Ryder or a Rolston or a Demitra would fit in nicely. Maybe it's because I go to school at Bowling Green State University, but a bunch of my buddies are BJ fans (hehe) and I can't help but be interested in their situation. New GM, and loads of cap room, it looks like the BJs could become a legit contender this season. Edit: I might just be bored and wanting to see some deals go down, and the Bjs will be wheelin and dealin this offseason. Here's some potential moves I see the Jackets making. Cap Room: 28 million 1) Re-sign Leclaire. 3 years 4 mil. 2) Re-sign Hainsey 2 year 6 mill. 3) Sign Malone to a 4 year 20 mil contract. 4) Sign Redden to a 3 year 18 mill contract. (must overpay to get Redden) 5) Trade Zherdev+ 1st round pick ( i think its 20th overall or something? Colorados pick) for Patrick Marleau. I'm bored and felt like trying to improve another teams roster. A Malone, Marleau, Nash top line would be pretty sick though.

IMo the NHL should definatly try to get a team in Vegas. One of fastest growing cities in the nation and a goldmine for tourists. Why not give it a shot? It cant be worse than Nashville...

lol ya that writer was just speculating everything i suppose. The thing that I think is weird is the fact that Franzen hasn't been interviewed much (if at all) you never see any pics of him at the wings games when they were in Detroit and you just dont hear much. I think the wings organization is trying to keep it quiet that hewill not be back this season and hopefully he can still play hockey.

dude, I'm no pens fan by any mean but they sucked for five long years. Can you imagine watching a team play that bad year after year after year? They earned those high picks by sucking balls. There's a lottery now and they won Crosby fair and square in the lottery so I don't see anything wrong with what they've done. They just don't have a god like scouting department like the wings to find gems in the 5th and 7th round of thed raft.

I completely agree.... I've said this for awhile now. I do not see Franzen playing another game this season. There must be something seriously wrong with him, because if it had just been concussion like symptoms they would have played him last night. He had already played the Colorado series with it so I don't buy the concussion like symptoms story. I really hope theres not something very wrong with him.
