It's plays like Drake's hit on Lebda that makes me dislike his game.. but, at least he's on OUR side now! Lang was far from the terrible player he is depicted as being, but his salary and poor playoff performance pretty much guaranteed he'd not be back. I haven't seen enough of Drake's play to evaluate him though.. but for $550K or so, I think it's the right move to make. Wings have to keep cashola ready for Zetterberg's new/big contract. Likely he'll be asking for $6-$7M per I'd think.
-
Cool pic with Joe there!! Briere will never be a Red Wing people, come now.
-
The knock on him is that he plays for the Blues basically... I still don't think this will affect Kenny's idea on what he thinks Todd is worth. Keith didn't suffer a major back injury/surgery recently. I like the $2-$2.25M figure for Mr. Bertuzzi.
-
( LOL, kidding. I also met Langer this year at the Dick 'O Dow's, he was trashed and didn't mind signing my now-RARE official sweater.
-
me too.. Dom let's in no more than 2, and our offense gets kicking. In regards to the Ducks in general.. for the most part the team themselves sans Prongy's one mistake, has been mysteriously clean and straight-forward hockey. I applaud the team for that. I think one of the main reasons is respect. You can sorta tell they respect the Wings skill.. so much so that it nearly cost them in the last two games. I expect something different tonight though.. keep your heads up boys.
-
I just wanted to mention that the Wings will win tonight. Seems like the "home whistle" was mysteriously absent last game, hopefully the refs just call the same type of game tonight. I love all the hockey pundits, mainly TSN claiming the Ducks are only giving a half-assed effort - - again, basically refusing to admit the Wings are any good. Let's prove them wrong and force a EMBOLISM-INDUCING Game 7 thursday!! One win at a time. *Edit: Spelling

If I had any linguistic talent, perhaps I would compose a sonnett: "A Love Song for Bobby Long".. If he saves our asses twice, which I have a strong feeling.. can't wait to read the crow-feast on these boards. Let's Go Bobby WOO-HOO!! Thanks for the avatar update! Girls with questionably low-cut shirts @ Oktoberfest can always be restored later.
-
woo-hoo!! Seems like forever since the last game! Wings 2, Duckies: Not much at all.. if anything.
-
I was thinking that we were outplayed... which we were..., as is common not only this regular season, but most of the playoff games,, the difference is resiliency, like Stevie Y said being interviewed by that dumb biatch. This team has a certain amount of chemistry, .. not even Ottawa has right now (read: goalie) .. I can't believe the fortune this town has right now.. Pistons//Wings//Tigers. Edit: spelling

I know I'm really late and all.. probably because this is one of the best hockey games I've seen in a while. . . but Todd Bertuzzi I think .. is smelling a Stanley Cup.
-
Wow, I love the positive vibe I'm feeling from the GDT today! Ducks come out quacking, get a quick 2-0 lead. Dom bashes own head against wall in intermission-- shuts the door from then on. Wings roar back in the 2nd (when don't they, right?) and take it running away. Giggy pulled for the second consecutive game, Wings 5, Ducks 3.
-
Maybe it's not injury related. Let's give some credit where it's due, note this pattern: Iginla: invisible Marleau: invisible (and to a certain extent after game 3, Thornton) Selanne: invisible Our defense, even depleted, is amazing TONS of credit to the hard backchecking Babcock preaches for the forwards too.
-
NFM, dude.. didn't you start one of these "Kinder - Gentler" threads during the Sharks series too? I don't know figures (probably posted somewhere), but it's pretty tough to corrale thousands of people into behaving. Maybe some of the Wings fans are taking the bait.. but you said it though: Emotions. They are running high now.. try and sift through the crap.
-
Weren't all three goals he gave up one-timers a/la NHL 2K7? Exposed his slow side-to-side movement, so says Kelly Hrudey. Anyhow, Jiggy was awful, but good goalies have a way of bouncing back.. just like Hasek did. You're right though, will be a rough and tumble one, because in my mind, this is a must win for the Ducks. Our skill will be too much for the Ducks to handle, especially with an extremely taxed blue line. Don't expect to see Jackman all that much.. kind of like our Kyle Quincey. Leave it all on the ice boys, especially in the furious first 10 minutes. Dom will save your asses a few times. I look for Bertuzzi to step up again, he likes his new linemates. Wings: 4 (prompting a Bryzgalov start Sunday) Ducks: 1

Great post, I agree on all points. Too bad the suspension (if) will likely be only one game. But, by that time.. Wings up 3-1, and a commanding lead in the series, coming home to the Joe. I giggle in anticipation of what the pundits will think/say when the Wings win two straight in Anaheim against the "FAR superior Ducks team" P.S. Has any Burke GM'd team ever won a Cup? He might want to think of getting a BLEND of old-school tough players and some more skill on his teams. Fricking good squads.
-
Yes, because Dom will be the very worthy recipient in mid-June.

I just hate it when a team has to go and ruin what was otherwise a perfect game of hockey. We kicked their cans all over the ice, only to have this hit kind of take me off my "high".. But, looking at it with glass half-full,.. i think it will be Pronger that gets the suspension.. probably only one game, but it will eventually cost them a trip to the Cup Finals in my opinion. Any hit is reviewable I was reading, and just because Rob got the penalty, doesn't necessarily mean he will be the one that gets suspended. Get well Homer - - go to the beach and get some rays or something.

Spoiled tonight in Michigan? Tigers @ 7:05 vs. Red Sox, Pistons @ 8pm vs. the Bulls, Wings @ 9pm vs. the Ducks!! HOORAY!! That was a bit of a heartbreaker Sunday night.. but, in all honesty, we deserved that loss.. Chalk it up to the hockey gods paying us back for our ineffective forecheck, puck control in our zone, etc. Tonight though, will be different, much different. I know also that fans get even more nervous/excited as the playoffs drag on.. but keep it in focus everyone, even if we get blown out of the water tonight or thursday, we WILL take one out there.. and maybe it follows script and we win Game 6 on the road!
-
Kopecky is Lazy and Sucks, we all know it. Actually I know nothing about Kopecky, he seemed a serviceable guy until he got hurt though. Anaheim is basically rolling 3 lines, so it'll be interesting to see who Babcock puts line 4 out there against. 5-6 minute range again? I think the boys will be jumpin' tonight. Prove the pundits wrong .. again boys, and play hard. (Calder, injury or not, has played like lethargic ass for a while now.. even before the playoffs begun)
-
I said Wings in 7, but I'd sure be happy to close this one out exactly as we did the Sharks, on their ice. Senators are going to be waiting in the shadows though.. WELL rested apparently too. Bryan Murray is doing a hell of a job. In lots of ways, they sort of mirror us this year. Not supposed to be anything that special, but they are gelling at the right time.
-
Calfan: Your posts are outstanding.. another one of them sneaky media-members posing as a regular dude. I especially like when you said it's better to get the Wings in rounds 1 or 2, I so agree.
-
welcome! So your allegiances are somewhat mixed, that's cool. I have all the respect in the world for the Finnish Flash too... just not wishing him too well in this series!
-
Nope, no way in hell they're "overwhelmed".. sluggish in the first due to the long layoff? Likely, that's why I think it goes without saying (but I'm saying it aren't I) that we score first, draw penalties, and have Chelios ring one of his pattented off the backboards shots from the point to a wide open Homer in front. :goal:
-
Legionairre.. the classiest enemy Forum-dude there is. And Donald, I'm with you on the drunk thing. .sheesh, again. MY LIVER! I've had an inspiration of sorts @ lunch. Chelios will have 2 pts, and finish +4 tonight.
-
Wow, that IS good analysis NFM.. Are you an CBC analyst in disguise! I have to disagree with the Bertuzzi in front of the net issue though, he doesn't seem to have that type of skill to his game. Drive the net yes, park there.. not so much.
