I wouldnt say calder wasnt surrounded by skill in philly, there are plenty of skilled players in philly, the team jsut isnt clicking in my opinion

Yeah i didnt mean enforcer as someone whos automatically gonna drop the gloves to backup his team, but he can stand up for his team in other ways, laying legal ice hits, bumping a few guys around, and yes I am WELL aware of his scoring ability, thats why I was so excited, as said, hes 2 in 1. But then again i dont think Holland picked him up for just goal scoring either, cause well, we have good players for that already. Detroit needs grit, thats what all the trade rumors and trade news said, and we knew that, so we picked up calder, whos been fantastic, and then bert. We have yet to see what bert can do but in my opinion in no way was his grit and force ignored when he was picked up.

oh ok, i guess kenny h thought to himself, hmmm we need grit, but bert is too scared now to go after a hit for fear of a repeat of the incident with moore, but hell lets get him anyway, riiiiight EDIT: I am not saying the only reason we got the dude is for him to skate around and hit, he has MANY more skills than that, but like said, he is a huge presence on the ice, and when it comes down to protecting his teammates, im not gonna believe for once second that hes gonna step back and let the moore incident affect his play. He has something to prove, and i believe hes ready to do it

doubtful, enforcing is a main reason we picked him up, enforcing doesnt mean you gotta skate after someone for a revenge hit

that fact of the matter is, since that hit, he's been called a washed up player, doing nothing for florida in that trade, and hes got a lot to prove. If i knew my career was on the line and had to prove something, sure id be cautious, but id sure as hell go out there and show them what i am made of

maybe so, but thats an off ice issue as he said, and if he lets it get to him on the ice and he holds back on standing up for dats and Z he knows his purpose isnt being fulfilled, hes gotta prove hes still got hockey in him.

really, cause from just about EVERYTHING ive read, hes putting the past behind him, and holding nothing back in his game that he is bringing to detroit

this is actually an excellent point, so far calder has shown plenty of grit and how to turn it into great plays. Bootland should stay and learn from him, and hopefully Bert when hes on the ice as well. This could be a defining moment for Boot as the much needed grit has arrived in pro form.

i think you mean this fridays game shouldnt be a hard one to take care of, but then again that kind of game can help hasek ease back into it, as well as sammy, without a lot of stress on pushing hard for a victory
