I am excited to see what happens here. Supposedly we dropped out of the Guerin sweepstakes so this is it its Blake or nothing. (In terms of star player) From Spectors I think it will take a prospect and 3 picks or 2 prospects and 2 picks (San Jose already traded their first rounder so we have an edge on them there).... A little steep in terms of price but the market is crazy and I like our chances better with Blake.

And it says that its a package of picks and prospects, while the WIngs said they will now only be trading for picks and prospects....I think I may have my wish come true this deadline....

nice design and logo, bad colors. Again this is from a message board, like the canucks one was from a blog... Until there is an official announcement I look at these as RUMORED jerseys for next year.

I was first kind of shocked that this one went down since it is so unmonumental, but I have looked at some stats, contracts et cetera and feel this move doesn't help and it doesn't hurt. Overall it is not a trade to be praised or condemned, but a solid move none the less and I hope Calder can play well (with a new number of course) and as long as we make another move I will look back at this trade with pleasure.

Calder is 2.95 million dollars this season so more of a cap hit to end the year than Willy, but he is a UFA at the end of the season, so unless he impresses he is gone and either Filpulla, Hudler, or a new acqusation fills Willy's spot on line 2 next year while the would be Willy money goes in Datsyuk's pocket... part of why I am not to mad about the deal, ditch a slumping player for another one, who unlike the first you can abandon at seasons end if he doesnt show some flare... not big on calder but again not a bad trade

All in all I have accepted this trade in the last 20 minutes, but I am really confused by it if they are still in the hunt to acquire other players. I understand Williams as been a dissapointment and clashed with Babcockles when he was benched so I don't mind seeing J-Dub leave, bringing in Calder seems a tad bit confusing to me because he is 100% overpriced and will hurt the cap figure for this deadline. It helps for the Datsyuk re-signing though, and I am willing to give Calder the benefit of the doubt and hope he can perform like he did last season.

Calder is Williams but older and with a horrible +/-, and he is more money...I guess this means either Hudler or Filpulla will be 2nd liners next year though and the 1.6 to Williams will go to Datsyuk...seems like this move was made for next year and not this year...because we are now Less room under the cap so it seems like another 2nd tier player will come here, although I think Calder is more like a 3rd tier unless he can recapture last years magic... Heres hoping he can and I'll admit I'm wrong
