Apparently Campbell has a NTC...would LMAO if he refuses to waive it. Looks like bye bye Patrick Sharp...
-
In all seriousness, they may be able to send Campbell and one of their abundance of picks/prospects from these trades to the Islanders who need to get up to the cap minimum...

Which ramification do you think Chicago is more afraid of. Offending Huet and POSSIBLY other free agents, or not being able to ice a competitive team due to Huet's contract? Easy choice. They will bite the bullet to have cap room over the image of honoring contracts to a fault... Hate to break it to you, but there is no honor in the way they NEED to do business even if it isn't what they want to do. They have already had to trade away half of their team that signed contracts after winning the cup, they already look bad, one more move in waiving Huet won't make them look that much worse. I hear your point about honor and image, and that there are ramifications that will affect the way that free agents look at their team, but you are over valuing that concept. When it comes down to cap compliance or honor, they need to pick cap compliance. Waiving Huet gives them a better chance to fill out their roster and ice a competitive team, plain and simple that outweighs the honor of not waiving Huet. It is a business, and that is how the decision will be made.

I deal with watching the Tigers and then being greatly disappointed by them just in time for the Wings to pick me up again.

Smith sustains shoulder injury at prospect camp

With booze, and arrests??? Really though, I feel that he should be back in time for Traverse City, and will probably start the year 1st pair in Grand Rapids. -
Maybe by "Offer Sheets Don't Concern Me" He meant that he will match them
-
Would rather have Stuart then the combo of those two players. Modano is more of a hopeful plus, not a necessity.
-
If I were the Hawks I would match Hjalmarsson and let Niemi walk then sign another goalie on the cheao (Turco or Theodore)
-
Nobody got destroyed. TO me it has been friendly banter on the legitamacy of the Hawks ability to shed cap space via Huet to make room for Hjalmarsson. I think its just been a debate, no destruction...

http://puckstopshere.blogspot.com/2007/08/hiding-salary-mistakes-in-russia.html Oleg Tverdovsky and his 2.5 million dollar salary were sent to the AHL where it would not have to be paid. He decided that he would rather play in Russia, and signed a KHL contract and was told to enjoy his time back home by the LA Kings, thus stopping him from counting against the cap. It has been done. If Huet would rather play KHL than AHL it can be done. It is not asinine, it is possible. I agree it is more likely he will play in Rockford, but the KHL is a distinct and very possible destination. I agree that this may not put them over the top, but they did need to replace Blake on the point. While this doesn't replace the mold of Blake it replaces the talent level. I am pretty positive that Bob McKenzie suggested Huet to the KHL was a possibility...and he is far from asinine...

What do you think the Capitals did with Nylander all year. They buried his cap hit in the AHL for the whole year and waived him every so often in order to try to get somebody to claim him. So you can "just send somebody to the AHL" If the owner is willing to eat the contract in order to have a better cap figure than it can be done. http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/psh/comments/how_to_offload_an_unwanted_salary/ This article states that Nylander could have been sent to the KHL had a deal been worked out between Washington, Nylander and the KHL team where the cap hit would no longer count against the Capitals Cap. The Hawks also attempted to loan Khabibulin to the KHL before his contract expired. The rumor is that Kotalik will be loaned to the KHL by the Flames so that his cap hit does not count against Calgary's cap. To do so he would have to be waived and then a deal reached but it can happen. And if memory recalls I believe Bob McKenzie said Huet could be loaned to the KHL to take his cap hit off during the draft coverage. So yes it is possible to do both those things. Maybe do your research before telling others they don't know what they are talking about. If Chicago comes to an agreement with the KHL club and wants him to play there so that he doesn't count against the cap, yes it can happen. Edit: As long as the Chicago Blackhawks, Cristobel Huet and a KHL club all want Huet to play in the KHL it can happen. If any one party disagrees then it cannot. No. Sharks only lose the picks if they get Hjalmarsson.
-
I see this as a comparable deal to when we signed Kronwall. A little steep at the time, but a steal at the end.
-
There is no need to buy him out when they can send him to the minors or KHL and get all 5 million back...
-
except they don't have the money to sign another good goalie is Hjalmarsson is kept.
-
Since he was under 35 when he signed the contract he can be waived and sent to the minors/KHL without counting against the cap. They still need to pay him, but he won't count against cap.
-
They could still keep Hjalmarson if they are willing to let Niemi walk...but that would also include burying Huet in the KHL...so where I am at is that the choice is Hjalmarsson or Niemi...

Had a feeling this would happen

Glad Miller is back. At a good price too. I thought it may be 100-150 k more. IMO Ritola is the odd man out if the Wings add another forward (Modano) not Eaves and not Miller.

Man the awards show might run over the time limit...if this were a playoff game it would be cut off for golf or horse racing pre race coverage...apparently awards show means more than the playoffs...

Jay Mohr: "I'm Christopher Walken...I've been doing this impersonation for the last 10 years...And it still really sucks..."

So relieved that Mike Green didn't win...
-
McKenzie says that is is indeed because Atlanta would have 51 contracts...Chicago either needs to take on another one, or Atlanta needs to move anotherplayer.

I wanted another Pavel speech!!!
