3/7 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Blackhawks 4
russianswede919293 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Glad too see every player that played s***ty in the first that I spent the whole intermission livid at came out with a fire under their butts. Great period. RafalskUSA finally scoring for the team that pays him and not the team he pays (taxes) Berts pass was 100% heads up and Filppula did what I wanted him to do...SHOOT. I've noticed that when Filppula shoots he plays real well, when he doesn't he gets washed out. If he continues to shoot the puck it will be good for us. I was sad to see Bert get hurt. Wasnt a dirty play though, a nice check where the follow through got messy. And Jimmy, although you didn't face many shots...much better with the rebound control, it made me happy. -

Filppula needs to start to shoot more. Bertuzzi refusess to shoot when the puck gets to him, and Miller is on that line to grind in the corners. If Rip Van Bertuzzi is too busy sleeping in the mountains to take a shot, Val is going to need to take them himself. -

His rebound control directly led to the first goal...His rebound went straight to Keith's stick in the high slot... -

I like how they look, but he has changed lines so many times I think they need to hope something catches. If they keep changing lines all the time the only line with consistent chemistry will be Drapes-Helm-Eaves... Actually that is how it is anyways...so lets give it a shot. -

Its a rarity...Normally he says nothing worth listening too, but every so often the blind squirrel finds a nut. He is a moron but he knows hockey well. The few times he gets his head out of his butt he can make a decent point...it is usually about one a game. -

THANK YOU! Howard is one of the people that whenever he f***s up this board blames it on somebody else. Howard has been great this season. But the rebounds have been terrible all year. And they have been extra bad today. -

Yes it was deflected by Rafalski, but Howard kicked the puck right out into the slot off the shot. If he had kicked that puck into the corner, the play never would have been possible. Pierre Mcguire said halfway through the period "Howard needs to move the rebounds to the corner. he is kicking them out into the slot which puts way too much pressure on the defense." Pierre McGuire is 100% correct... -

Yeah because its Rafalski's fault/bad luck that Howard kicked a rebound right out into the slot, and Keith ripped it the second it settled on his stick... No that is not bad luck or Rafalski's tip. That goal was a direct result of Jimmy Howard's complete inability to control a single shot that doesn't wind up in his glove. Its either a glove save he holds on to or a rebound that is a scoring opportunity. Between the 4 games since the season started up again we have gotten what I feared from Howard all along. Terrible inconsitency. Great in the Nashville and Colorado games. Terrible versus Vancouver, and now again today. He needs to get back that consistent play he had before the break. -

Yup. I don't think Chicago necessarily played all that much better than the Wings. We had a more consistent attack (but nobody on this team can finish). We did have some pretty bad turnovers, but Chicago did as well. The difference to me has been Howard's terrible rebounds. The first goal was 100% a result of his inability to direct rebounds into the corner, it went right back into play (like it always does) and they capitalized. Can't blame him on the second goal. But there have been plenty of times in the first where Chicago gets more of an opportunity to do something because the first shot is kicked right back into the slot by Howard. He has played well this season, but rebound control is horrible by him, and most of his bad games are where teams capitalize on that. -
As dirty as I feel I am glad the Penguins won today. Dallas lost another one. Now hopefully we can win tomorrow, and Calgary loses to Minnesotta (in regulation) A few more big wins in a row and I will start to feel confident again.

No you are not. I liked it as well.

Todd Bertuzzi is a streaky guy. That was the fact I used to state I didn't like the signing when it happened. I was worried he would be hurt and never hit the hot streak. All of his season scoring always seems to come in 2-3 spurts. He will probably have one more before the season is over, and end with very respectable statistics for a 1.5 million dollar forward.

Thanks Matt and company. You guys are great.

This makes me sad. I've always really liked Rick DiPietro... If this is something serious he should just call it a career. He shouldn't jeopardize his ability to be mobile for the rest of his life. To everybody trashing the contract right now. Yes it was a terrible contract, but if he retires it does not count against the cap because of how old he is. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2584306 Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/story/2006/09/12/...l#ixzz0gyhuEos7 However I am pretty sure the team took out insurance on the contract in the event that this did occur.

Well actually he is only expected to play. MacLean said that it will be up to Raffi and Babs, and they have posted a lineup with him and one without him. So it is possible, though not probable that Rafalski may not play tonight. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...an_rafalsk.html If Rafalski misses this game I will be calling for the NHL's head for not scheduling a travel day, I already thought it was ludacris to bend to TV schedules and have no travel day, but if a player misses a game, and an important one at that for its playoff implications, then there is no excuse to not have had a travel day and I will be steamed.
-
He very well may be the best player in the NHL (Ovechkin is only possible for title of better IMO). That being said, he is a piece of horse s*** and I will hate him without logic forever. There is no need to rationalize it, he is Sidney Crosby, which to a Wings fan is synonymous with the word Anti-christ.

Wings need to have salary in=salary out on any trade they make...I highly doubt they will trade for anybody let alone Kozlov.
-
Not as horendous as everyone made it out to be. Barteko had his head down, and body crouched to pretty much elbow height to begin with, and his helmet was not on tight at all. It was not cool that TKO stuck the elbow out to ensure he made the hit when he missed the contact, but that was not the effect he was trying for.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)
russianswede919293 replied to redwings8831's topic in General
This. Yzerman put together what is one of the most talented teams I've seen in the Olympics in a while. It just so happens a lot of those players are d-bags and cry-babies. Heatley-Tremendous talent-Primadonna Brodeur-One of the best goalies ever...also a primadonna Crosby...best player in the league...also a primadonna Pronger-Great defender, giant D-bag They also have good guys though too. Nash and Toews and Staal and Doughty, I have tremendous respect for all of them. Canada is a great team, I like most of their players...there are just a lot I don't like on there too. -

GREAT GAME! Where has Rafalski been all year. I think these Olympics will be a huge confidence boost for him. Playing Brodeur was a huge coaching mistake by Babcock. Fatso has been terrible. Miller kept the USA in it early, but We are taking over. Loved the Perry Pronger pile up, if only it had been catfish Crysby instead of Staal, it would have been AWESOME instead of just Awesome. -
http://www.hobeybaker.com/voting/ Just hoping that I can get some more people to vote for Dan Ringwald of RIT for the Hobey Baker award. He is a senior defenseman and the captain of the team. He has been a fixture on the point since he came up, and just finished leading us to our 3rd Atlantic Conference championship in the last 4 years. Just want to support my Alma Matar. VOTE RINGWALD!
