He isn't winning us games like he had...coming out of the olympic break I think that both goalies need to be used more often...Ozzy should be playing every few games not once a month. Howard should definitely be the starter though, he has earned it.

I like Howard a lot. And he has proven to be a solid starter. But I do question if the amount of shots he faces is the teams fault or his own doing. He turns the puck over 50% of the time he plays the puck from behind the net, and his rebounds are almost always in positions that people have great scoring opportunities down. With increased puck and rebound control I think the 40 shot games would be closer to 20 shots against. A lost of what he gets is due to his own lack of ability to control rebounds...he does however get into great position to stop those rebounds. Positionally and mechanically he has been very strong...the rebounds and puck movement have been things that have harmed both him and the team though IMO... Just realized gcom said the same thing...

He may deserve it but I don't want Williams or MIller as the 3rd line center. If Helm centers the 3rd line I could agree with you, although I'm reluctant to break that line up. Deserving it and depth allowing it are 2 very different things.

It is the only way to roll 4 lines all with natural centers and not break up the Draper-Helm-Eaves line Thus your remaining centers are Datsyuk Zetterberg and Filppula. Each center a line. The other possibilities would involve swapping Bertuzzi and Franzen to be Bert-Dats-Homer Franz-Hank-Cleary Which I am also not opposed to, but I dont think you put either Miller or Williams on a top 2 line, and I don't want to break up Draper-Helm-Eaves Thus those 6 players are in the top 6 because Filppula needs to center a 3rd scoring line. EDIT: Also you could call almost any player on this team an underachieving forward so there will be one on every line...

If Detroit doesn't win the next 2 games before the Olympic break they are in a very bad place for a playoff push... Without 4 points over the next 2 games I am going to be very surprised if the Wings eventually do make the playoffs. They could really use a 7 or 8 game winning streak...2 big wins to end before the break would be huge. Then we get Lilja and Homer and Eaves and Kronner back.

I don't get this trade. A promising young defenseman and a pick for a goalie that has only had one season of being entirely healthy... Don't get it at all.

I can't see them trading Williams. Fully healthy that would mean: #1 Maltby or May in the line-up every day #2 a possible breaking up of the Draper-Helm-Eaves line... I like Franzen-Datsyuk-Homer Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary Miller-Filppula-Williams Draper-Helm-Eaves Maltby

I put this in the other Lilja thread too. But if there is a chance the Kronner won't play Tuesday is there any chance that Lilja will be called up a couple games early???

I believe Tollefsen is a RFA at the end of the year. As is Meech. Lilja is a UFA. I expect that Lilja will be gone at the end of the season. I expect Lebda to be traded this week. I expect the Defense in Training Camp next year to be: Lids-Rafalski Kronner-Stewie Ericsson-Kindl I think Meech and Tollefsen will then each be given 1-year deals, and they will fight for the 7th defense spot where the loser is waived/traded Kyle Quincey style.

Now if Homer's leg injury turns out to be long term i am going to hate that Holland made this trade this early...

I'm thinking Lebda will be traded when Lilja comes back. They will re-sign Meech and Tollefsen since both are RFA's to one-year deals. Going into camp the D will be: Lids-Raffi Kronner-Stewie Ericsson-______ ______ And Kindl, Meech and Tollefsen will battle it out for the 6th and 7th spots on the defense.

Final point for now...With a name like Ole-Kristian...he is okay by me!
