Leino to Flyers for Tollefsen and a 5th Rounder
russianswede919293 replied to dobbles's topic in General
I hope he does. I want him to succeed. But there was no way he was going to accept an assignment to Grand Rapids, and Miller was a better option for this team for THIS season, which is what matters. If the Wings were in first in the division and the playoffs were something that we already knew were attainable then I could have seen them hanging on to him for hopes of his potential, but there was no way he potential was going to help make the playoffs this year. Thus they got something instead of nothing. A depth defenseman for the playoffs/if there is an injury and a 5th round pick in 2011. Not great, but everyone knew Leino was gone anyways, rather get something than nothing. I'll mis Ville and I wish him well but it was a good move to get a body with experience to replace Lebda or Meech in Grand Rapids in case they get traded too. -

Tollefsen was already placed on waivers, if he clears waivers by noon tomorrow all is good. Lebda/Meech won't be traded and May won't be waived until Lilja is being activated. -

TBH Tollefsen was only acquired as depth for the rest of the season and playoffs to make up for having to trade Lebda or Meech. He is being assigned to Grand Rapids. Probably will never see a game in Detroit, and will not be re-signed at the end of the year. It was mostly Leino for depth and a 5th round pick. I wish Ville luck in Philly and hope he turns into everything I think he can. Best of luck Leino. -

Answered my own question. Tollefsen being placed on waivers, if he clears he is going to Grand Rapids. He seems like he is good depth for the D when Lebda is traded next week to make room for Lilja. -
Truly a must win game today. A loss is not acceptable to me today.

I always loved Kozlov, but I in no way want him on the Detroit Red Wings this year. Too much money, too over the hill, not enough production...

I'd assume they call up Cory Murphy until Paul Martin is off IR -

Yes probably...but I do not see Kovalchuk signing the same contract as Hossa did in Chicago. This team is so tight to cap this year that 2 players coming back from injury means we need to give away 2 million dollars worth of salary to get them back... Do people really want to see it get any tighter against the cap??? I don't. -

So Bergfors, Oduya are source confirmed. I heard that Cormier the Elbow King might be the prospect...and then a pick too??? NJ better re-sign this guy or win the cup. -

russianswede919293 replied to Paul MacLean's Mustache's topic in General
No but it is hard to imagine he would for that low of a rate. The Wings couldn't keep Hossa for much cheaper than what Kovalchuk will go for. Granted Kovie is a better player but money is the only reason Hossa is gone. Whether he would want to play here or not, unless Lidstrom flat out retires, there is no way the Wings cna afford Kovalchuk. -

If they did then they wouldnt trade Simmonds and Jersey would trade Bergfors... No way I pick Oduya over Johnson...even with how good I think Oduya is. -

If NJD pulled this off without trading Bergfors its a win, even for a rental if Kovy doesn't re-sign. -

per Elliot Freedman's twitter Oduya is to Atlanta as part of the deal. -

If he rejected 12 years 101 milllion and 7 years 70 million what makes people think he would sign in Detroit for 7.5 million, or that the Wings could even afford him. If that kind of money was affordable Hossa wouldn't be a blackhawk. -

Knowing there is no way the Wings could re-sign him there is no way I would be cool with that deal. Plus that would make us even more over cap. -

I think they will trade Sharp with a couple others for Kovalchuk. THey need to dump those salaries over the offseason anyway, why not further the cup run. Highly doubt Kovie would sign there long term though. -
Did the math and to keep Lebda and not Meech leaves the team about 100 thousand over cap. Thus it has to be Lebda and not Meech that goes...

It is only until Franzen gets back. It seems like Babs wants to go with the lines we started the year with up top. Franzen-Dats-Homer Bert-Z--Cleary

What do you plan to do when the Olympic break goes on?
russianswede919293 replied to chukjones's topic in General
Well I am going to watch the Olympics myself -
I don't think that Meech May and Leino frees up enough salary, I believe it has to be Lebda.
