10/27 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Canucks 4

Is it just me or did all the progress Pavel made last year in shooting more often evaporate...it seems like he is always looking for the extra dangle or the pass and is not shooting as much...

I believe he wasn't on the ice for either...that doesn't mean he hasn't looked bad though...I have a topic in the General Discussion about trying to replace him with Kindl... Lebda is missing his man all over the ice...one time it caused him to puch net off and take DOG penalty...another time it caused a HUGE scoring chance...he just has been out of position all night long...

Wings looked pretty good this period... A quick goal in the 3rd would be much appreciated.

I've said that about a lot of games this year with Ozzie in too... Tonight has been no different...weak defense has caused issues for the Wings...

Anyone else not remotely surprised that Brett Lebda completely missed his man on that last play causing the need for Howard to come up big...

Following his career unless he plays like this on a CONSISTENT basis I wouldn't even fathom it...

His last 2 games have been very impressive...if he keeps playing this way we have a solid back-up for Ozzie. Howard's problem since he left college has been consistency though, hot then cold...hopefully he can keep the colorado and tonights performances up long term.

Looks like Stuart went face first into the stanchon there... And to those calling for a PP, it was a clean hit going for the puck on an icing... Also, even though it wasn't a dirty hit, I like that May kicked his ass for it anyway...

I agree that Ken and Larry brought up a good point...if Lids had hooked Johnson then: 1) he would have slowed down 2) he would probably have fallen long before he got near the boards and just had a sore butt... Gary Buttman, the price you pay for "higher scoring" is 1 in 7 NHL players are hurt (at least according to Kenny and Larry) I really do agree with them that a little clutch and grab and Johnson doesn't wind up head first into the boards...

Man certain players (i.e. Zetterberg and Bertuzzi) have been all around the net but couldn't buy a goal if they had all the money in Ed Belfour's imagination...

I find this arguement interesting by Ken and Larry... They are saying with the banning of the hooking and obstruction that slowed players down there is more of an opportunity for plays like what happened to Johnson. The theory is that in the pre-lockout NHL Lids would have hooked him and slowed him down, so if he did fall it wouldn't have been as huge of an impact.

Howard has looked good...if he could perfect rebound control he would be much better though...

Alright I have not made a prediction yet this year...and they have sucked...so I'm going to make one....and it will be crazy and bold, because that is what this team needs.... Wings 3 Casucks...I mean Canucks 1 Wings Zetterberg, Ericsson, Ozzie (EN) Casucks...oops again...Canucks (Sammyson)

    Tatar

Apparently the reason for the delay on Tatar playing was Visa issues according to an article on MLive.

    Eaves the odd man out?

I'm not trying to compare him to Cleary at all though. Even before Cleary was scoring he impressed me with almost every shift. He was grinding out every shift, using his skills to his advantage and never let up a second. I just haven't gotten that same impression. There are shifts where Eaves has looked lost. I hope I am wrong, but I just am not seeing as much from him as I expected.

    Eaves the odd man out?

Is quite gooney...thus May played that game... valid point though. May does seem to play against teams with an enforcer.
