Ozzie looked awesome that period. Anybody else notice that he went back to last season's pads. Game one he wore the new Nike-Bauer Vapors and gave up bad rebounds, didn't move to well and lacked confidence. Todaty he is back in the Brians he is moving well, on the rebounds, chalenging and looks very confident. I just hope he doesn't practice in one and use the other like last year when he switched from the itechs to the brians... as i type this he gives one up...but still looking much better tonight and im interested if it as to do with pad comfort. -

Wings sign Brad May to 1 Year Deal, $500k
russianswede919293 replied to hockeygods's topic in General
May is the kind of enforcer i DO like. He is a better all around player then Downey or McCarty last year. That being said he is not a 2 shift and out kind of guy...That is a GOOD Enforcer!!!! Worried about what happens with Helm though. I really don't think he should be sent down... -

LMFAO...Only Balsille would be the winning bid and there would be another court hearing with the NHL, Moyes, Balsille, Glendale AND Ebay... And nobody would win the team and it would be re-posted...
-
What a joke this whole situation is. All the NHL did is cost Balsille, itself and Jerry Moyes massive court attorney fees. The team is in the same spot it was 6 months ago. Bettman is a moron. If he cared about anything other then Balsille NOT getting the team he would have taken a stand to help Phoenix long before he did. He is making the same mistake all over again. With the Islanders in their situation he should be in the trenches fighting for them to stay in Long Island now, and he is not. When Balsille tries to get the Islanders in Hamilton 4 months from now it will be the same story all over again. Phoenix will NEVER succeed without being a contender and it wont be a contender without an owner. Where was good old Gary for Winnipeg and Quebec and Hartford...oh thats right he was expanding the NHL into more of America. Now the clown is all upset because his pet project in Phoenix failed, and thats the only reason he is making a stink. Sorry for my rant, but the whole situation is a joke and that franchise is in a WORSE position now then it was before. Nobody is going to go to Coyotes games this year...

This was his second chance. I am not too surprised after his off-season comments... If your not willing to play AHL hockey and aren't as talented as Hank or Pavel...then get out Ryno
-
I think he will sign in Europe this year on a 1 year deal. If he succeeds there I think he may find a job in the AHL next year.
-
According to Ansar Kahn Tatar may still wind up in the OHL. I think that they will give him the 9 games to test how he does, and he will play 1st or 2nd line in that time. If he isn't succeeding on that line, he will go toOHL after 9 games. IMO.

Brad May to Play on Friday (and Friday's Line Up)
russianswede919293 replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
I think May is a good depth addition for the Wings, and look forward to seeing him play. But IF he gets a contract it will be a 2-way Downey contract, and he will be in Grand Rapids. -
Cloutier would be either a Griffin or a Walleye to start the year no matter what. I think that the biggest issue is Larsson or Howard. Since they are around the same skill level with Larsson a little younger. In my opinion this choice is about more then just this season, but about the Wing's future in net as well, as to which of the 2 do they feel will have more success.\ I honestly have a feeling Howard will be waved and Larsson will make the team, unless J-Ho has an outstanding game at some point in the preseason.
-
Where In The World did that come from in a thread about Howard and Larsson?!?!?!?
-
Tatar is also in contention on Forward, as is Brad May On defense Erhardt, Piche are both possibilities

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...ck_on_wzam.html Babs seems to agree... He is saying that Howard is penciled in but could lose that spot to Howard... If Larsson outplays Howard I think we will see... Wings: Ozzie Larsson Griffs: McCollum Cloutier Walleyes: Pearce ??? Now that is out of Babcock's mouth I think the possibility is something that should indeed be considered

Looking at the Grand Rapids roster, I think it would be better for him to go to the OHL this year.
-
Phaneuf didn't leave his feet, and did nothing wrong. Its a bad situation though. Phaneuf was going for the hit, and as that happened the guy behind Okposo pushed him, he lost his balance and his head went down right as Phaneuf got there for contact. Just a fluke play, and bad situation.

Jagr was 36, on the decline of his career and didn't want to take a pay cut...nobody in the NHL would have signed him to that money...
-
I hope that was sarcasm here. Neidermeyer, Rob wasn't going to be signed by anyone in the NHL at 34 years old for what he wants...he has the wrong first name to be a commodity in this league. The NHL has in the past, and will continue to see the Neidermeyer's of the world jump ship...because nobody here wants them anyways... Its the Radulovs and Hudlers and...wait nope those are the only two that have mattered, that would make a difference.

He is sporting a new pair of Nike Bauer Vapor goalie pads to go with the trapper and blocker that he used last year. gone are the Brian's from last year. After going 3 years with the same pads he is now on his 2nd pair in less then a year. The Itech's that he wore for years The Brian's that he switched to last year The New Nike-Bauer Vapors Glad that Ozzie is making the switch in training camp this year and not practicing with one set of pads and playing with another, I think that is part of where the struggles to control rebounds came from last year. I am hpowever surprised he isn't wearing the Brian's for the whole season, since he is not one to change equipment all that often. New pads look sharp though, and he is doing it in the right order this year.

I love the birdcage. It is a fun mask to wear. I used to wear one when I played street hockey, and i switched to a traditional goalie mask for ice hockey because i got the mask for free. With the birdcage I always felt I had a wider peripheral vision in order to see more of the play.
