Heatley traded to Sharks for Michalek, Cheecho, 2nd Round Pick

It was a decent trade by Ottawa. Sucks though. Smid Penner and Cogliano would have been a better return. Interesting point by Eklund that if a player demands a trade it should waive the no trade clause because otherwise it ruions the market for that player.http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Should-Demanding-a-Trade-Void-a-NTC-The-Fallout-Of-Heatley-Deal-RUMORS/1/22925

GDT 9/9/09 Detroit Red Wings v.s. NY Rangers

Just by stats I am impressed with Mursak, and a bit disappointed in Pyett.

Same as yesterday, not sure lineups and also not sure if there is anywhere to watch, but http://redwingscentral.com/ has coverage and the camp roster.

    Toronto and Chicago swap picks

If Burke makes an offer to Boston, people are saying Boston cannot match due to their cap number...Boston can still go above cap...they can match...also with Kessel being on the IR until December, they can match and worry about cap later. That is why no matter what Boston will match the offer.

McCollum played the whole game. Also Oulahen McGrath and Tardif are not in the prospect camp, I believe it is for 1st and 2nd year pros only.

GDT 9/6/09 Detroit Red Wings v Atlanta Thrashers

Good game. McCollum had a rough second but wasn't too bad. niice game by Pare and Emmerton statistically. Also McCollum has an awesome mask.

GDT 9/6/09 Detroit Red Wings v Atlanta Thrashers

I hope you are wrong. I know he won't make the team, and I think that there is a chance he could stay. Although his comments do lead otherwise. It would be nice to see what he can do for a while season, but if he wants to be the next Grigorenko peace out, we've got a Johan.

GDT 9/6/09 Detroit Red Wings v Atlanta Thrashers

I think that there are a few players that need to make big strides in this tournament. I think McCollum needs to show enough in the tournament to get some legit game time in the pre-season. Lashoff needs to make an impression going into the season, where as I expect Kolosov and Pyett (mostly Pyett) to dominate in order to make a step towards being the top defenseman in Grand Rapids. I'm hopping Axelsson and Ferraro have good showings, and I think Ryno and Mursak really need to play well after they have each had their struggles.

Wings grant tryout to Dan Cloutier

In my opinion this is a whatever move. I think if it works out cool, if not it doesn't matter. The one thing that does worry me is that if Ozzy gets hurt we are running off of ALL ROOKIE goaltending.

    Prospect tournament

Last year some of the games were broadcasted by the NHL network, does anyone know if this is going to happen again?

    OFFICIAL: 12y, $62.4m makes Hossa a 'Hawk

I'm pretty sure they would just rework the contract to be the same exact value and cap hit, the money would then be spread out and Hossa would be forced to spend the whole contract playing to get his big bucks.

    McCarty likely to retire

http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/08/it...hat_darren.html I personally hope for this one. Maybe he could do the interviews between periods.

IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler

For me it is a broken link...and it hasn't been on MLive... I think it is a lost cause to think anything other then Jiri is a Dynamo Moscower EDIT: I got the link to work...but I still think he is a Dynamo Moscower

    McCarty likely to retire

Mac did overlap the personal and professional at one point. It resulted in his contract buyout and departure from the Red Wings. I read an article a while back that said Holland told Mac it was Grinder or Hockey, because it was affecting his work ethic. McCarty said he would not quit Grinder and was bought out. When McCarty realized he had ruined his life through substance abuse he took the steps to fix it. He went to rehab, and then built back an old bridge with Draper, which led to his return to the Wings, who in my opinion kept him last year solely to be a positive influence on guys like Abdelkader. Mac ran into problems, but he was man enough to admit it, fix it, and put his life back on track. Do I respect all his choices...no. But I sure as hell respect anyone that is man enough to fix their flaws. And on top of all that, I respect him as a hockey player. One who had a damn fine career in Red & White for that.

    Hudler is a "LOSER". Literally

I read the article through google translator...it still makes little sense...couldn't tell if she left him due to the prostitutes, or if she left him because of not wanting kids, and then he had the prostitutes. Its unclear to me if the breakup was because of the hookers, or if the hookers were because of the breakup... Jiri Jiri Jiri...oh the s*** you put yourself through this summer...

    Wings sign Todd Bertuzzi

    Wings sign Todd Bertuzzi

I agree with you on this one...I would hope Lilja gets back, and if he does the Wings will be over cap.

    Wings sign Todd Bertuzzi

Again I state, if healthy I am 100% behind this signing, if healthy for part and on the IR for part I am 100% behind this signing. If healthy, then IR, then playing hurt I am not behind this signing. I sound like a broken record here, but this stat has been ignored by EVERYONE that is happy with this signing...After the back injury in January he played 32 games with 4 goals and 13 points... If he winds up with the same total stats as last year I am happy. But if he gets hurt in say November, and plays 50 games at that production we are now looking at about 6 goals and 20 points as his production for the majority of the season, which does not give the same stats... an early back injury that he tries to play through makes him a very weak spot on the roster, and that is my concern.

    Wings sign Todd Bertuzzi

Yeah, I think he would too...I don't know that he is physically capable of playing a full season...
  24. russianswede919293

    Wings sign Todd Bertuzzi

I have mixed emotions on this one. I like that they got another goal scorer for under market value. But I don't like pushing so much to cap that we need to rely on Lilja being unhealthy to fit under cap. I like his production last season, but it scares me that after he hurt his back in january he played 32 games getting 4 goals and 13 points...that being said...if he is healthy its a great move, but the second that back goes wonky its not such a great move... I don't get why the consensus seems to be that this is a great signing and Williams is a bad signing. Williams had the same amount of offensive production just about and is 29 without a history of injuries, whereas bertuzzi has had an inability to play a full season of hockey in 3 seasons. They are equally decent moves, that both come with an undermarket value but strings attached. Hopefully they both work out, but I am still skeptical about Berts ability to play a full season staying healthy, and that 32 gp 4g 13points scares the s*** out of me, because if he gets hurt early in the year instead of mid season, we will get those stats for the majority of the season, not half of it.

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi

Sorry. It is slightly low-balling, but he is still getting 1.33 million from Anaheim this year as part of the buy-out. so he is actually earning, whatever a team pays him, plus his buy-out money... I know it doesn't correlate, but in my irrational mind Todd Bertuzzi does not deserve to earn a total of 2.8 million dollars... In my rational mind I know its solely down to what he is offered from teams this year. I agree 1 mill may be too low, so lets say 1.25 so that its the same as Lilja's LTIR and it doesn't affect the cap space at all, even that would be better to me. In my eyes, Bertuzzi is another year older, another year more broken down physically, and coming off a streak (including playoffs 6 gp 1 g 1 a 8 PENALTY MINUTES!!!) where he played 38 games with 5 goals and 15 points, but racked in the penalty minutes while doing so...
