Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi

I do agree there with that assessment, but my thoughts on Bertuzzi at 1.5 being too much are not changed by that.

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi

I'm okay with bringing Bertuzzi back but not for 1.5 million. I saw the rationale of the 3.5 million for Hudler etc. but I say this would you rather have: Eaves, Williams, Abdelkader for 2.9 or Eaves, Williams, Bertuzzi for 3.5? personally I'd rather rock Abdelkader and more cap room. Bertuzzi is just too old, too slow, and takes too many dumb penalties for me to think that he is worth 1.5 million. Last year he had 44 points, but was also a -13. Over the last two seasons he has failed to reach 70 games played, with various injuries, including his back injury. 11 of his 15 goals came prior to his january back injury and 31 of his 44 points came before that back injury. Translation, after he had another back flare-up, since he is injury prone, he then came back and played 32 games registering 4 goals and 13 points...that is piss poor. I already worry about Homer producing if he gets beat up again, I don't want to have another guy that I worry won't produce when the injuries reign down. Again I say, I am okay with bringing him in, but I think that 1.5 million for a defensively poor, injury prone, slow winger, is too much. The highest I would be happy with is 1 million for him.

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi

    I could support this, am a little scared by it, but support it. Pavs-Zetterberg-Cleary Franz-Filppula-Williams Leino-Helm-Bertuzzi Eaves-Draper-Homer Maltby 1st PP Pavs-Z-Homer Lids-Raffi 2nd PP Franz-Filppula-Bertuzzi Kronner-Williams Looks like a pretty solid line-up to me

    Sabres sign Grier

1.2 million dollars for Mike Grier is not a figure I would be happy with. Good Riddance, enjoy playing for Buffalo.

    Patrick Kane Arrested

Chippewa Street is a street that is all clubs. In most places you need to be 21 years old to get in. He most likely got in for being Patrick Kane and proceeded to get hammered. The cab fair is ridiculous, that they were not going to even tip the guy #1, and #2 that you would punch him in the face...

    Kris Draper Signing Autographs

On Thursday August 13th from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Great Skate in Buffalo, NY (Amherst, NY to be percise) Kris Draper will be signing autographs as part of their annual summer sale event. There will also be a tent sale where you can buy equipment that is out of make, and jerseys of players that left their old teams at discounted prices (Jerseys are typically 2 for 70).

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal

I think this signing effectively did...

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal

A lot of people were/are Hudler fans...but guess what...He is not, will not, won't be a Red Wing in the fall...he may or may not never play in the NHL again... In order to move on it is best to sign 2 NHL caliber players to good financial 1 year deals and let Abdelkader AHL it up. That being said Eaves for what is being said on here for 500k means they have 1.6-2.0 million more to sign another player...thus eaves is an amazing signing.

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal

LINK That being said...great move Holland!!! By using cap geek and assuming its a 0.9 million dollar deal. then calling oulahen the 13th forward, then trading meech... The Wings have approximately 1.5 million left to sign somebody, leave some space, make that 1.2 million to sign somebody...they can still get one more decent player.

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal

Firstly I agreee with GS&T that it is a project signing that is very similar to Cleary. Secondly anything that is 1 mil or less makes it an amazing signing. My Lines so Far: Z-D-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Leino Homer-Helm-Eaves Maltby-Draper-Abdelkader

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal

Since he was a buyout who was set to make 1.4 mil this season and 1.7 mil next season he will get money from Boston already, meaning he will be cheaper then he should be. My guess is one year at 1.2 million. Leaving enough to sign one more guy.

    Biron Signs in Long Island

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=285407 Looks like they expect to be missing DiPietro again this year. Smart signing... Roloson-Biron could be a great tandem for them next year. Its also a shame to see DiPietro get this seriously hurt.

    Detroit Tigers

I'm sure there are plenty of Tigers fans on here too. Are there any sites like this one for the Tigers? Also I am looking for a site that has scouting reports on Tigers prospescts to do roster editing in MLB the show. Does anyone know if there is one that exists. soxprospects.com is awesome for the red sox fans and I wish there was a tigers site just like it.

KHL will honor NHL's decision on Hudler

I would hope that if the award is not something Detroit is willing to accept they would let him go to Russia. Its not the Wings way to pull a sign and trade on him. I think that it sends the wrong message and is against the way this team has been run.

KHL will honor NHL's decision on Hudler

Agreed. However I am concerned about fitting 3 million dollars under cap. Feasably they could do it but to do so involves trading 2 players...Obviously Meech or Lebda is gone, but that still leaves them without enough money to sign a 12th forward... The other side is that if Lilja is out Long Term still it leaves plenty of money...SO: a 3 million dollar contract, in my opinion will result in the 12th forward being a 500K player/a tryout in training camp, and then a wait and see on Lilja...if he is healthy then they need to trade another player...

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

This better result in Hudler back because otherwise there will be nobody worth signing left once we know. I never wanted him but Moen who many wanted already signed, so every day this drags on the Wings cannot sign anybody in case Hudler winds up back, so they now effectively have no cap space until we know what is up with Jiri...

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

Also it isn't a matter of RFA versus UFA as has been posted and written about. Its a matter of arbitration... Until the arbitration is settled and the outcome solidified the ruling is that filing for arbitration is a contractual obligation to the team...had he not filed for arbitration it would not be this way. Jiri...you and your agent may have really screwed the pooch on this one by filing for arbitration on Sunday...

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

I want this to lead to Jiri back on our team. But the negative aspect is that as long as this goes on the Wings cannot spend. If the IIHF rules that Hudler is Wings property then they need the cap space. So if this is a drawn out process all the good FA's will be signed by the time we even know if he will stay. This could turn out really well...or really horribly...

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

Jiri left for money not for not being a Wing... This is interesting...I think its possible that the Post-Radulov clause could keep us Jiri...

    Jason Williams?

I'm still not opposed to going to camp as is and dealing with it later, but Peca and Pyatt are two players I could get behind signing, although that would throw the rest of the cap space away.
  22. russianswede919293

    Who do we target now?

Tanguay-Too Pricy Sykora-May be too Pricy/might not want to play here after being a pen Williams-I'd rather die then have him back, there is a reason they traded him.
  23. russianswede919293

    Who do we target now?

No it isnt. The Wings aren't going to replace Hudler with the money they have available and anybody left on the market. They could afford to use the rest of their cap on a Moen-Pyatt type, but they don't score many goals. If they go in to camp as is they have 1.5 million in cap space to trade for a player that is worth 4-5 million dollars (annual salary) around the deadline, who will contribute much more come playoff time. The team as is is good enough to be top 4 in the Western Conference, what good does #1 in the West get you, home ice throughout the playoffs, thats it. But #4 seed and a strong scoring Winger acquired at the deadline can get you further in the playoffs then a 1.5 million dollar player for the whole year. Filppula-Datsyuk-Franzen Cleary-Zetterberg-Leino Abdelkader-Helm-Homer Malts-Draper-Meech/Oulahen/other internal option That is not a bad team, and its much better then most other teams have in the league.
  24. russianswede919293

    Who do we target now?

I don't think the Wings necessarily go after anyone. There isn't really much left on the market that I think is a Wings caliber player that we could get for the money (1.5 million). That being said I think this could be like the first year after the lockout. I think spot #11 goes to Abdelkader now for sure. And I think that on top of that you will see guys invited to training camp to fight with prospects (like Oulahen) for the 12th forward. Who knows maybe we find another guy like Cleary by doing that. Then you take the 1.5 million in cap space that is saved by not signing somebody and use it at the trade deadline where you can acquire a 4-5 million dollar player instead of a 1.5 million dollar player (for the whole year), making the Wings a stronger team for the playoffs, which is where it matters most.

Holland confirms that Hudler will play in KHL

5 million tax free versus 3 million taxed...financially Hudler made the right decision. The thing that gets me is that the message was sent in the filing for arbitration that he wanted to stay here. That was what Holland based the whole off-season off of. He was going to let everybody walk and throw all he had at Jiri to keep him around. Had Hudler made it known that he wasn't going to stay they could have kept Sammy for 2.0 million I bet. Oh well its all in the past. Good luck to you Jiri, enjoy Russia, I highly doubt I'll ever get to watch you play agian because I don't see you coming back to the NHL.
