    Who signs 1st?

I disagree. At least in terms of penalty kills. When on the penalty kill you are not expected to have consistent possession of the puck. In fact it is typically the exact opposite. Therefore since he blocks the most shots on the PK it is because he is the best and most willing to do so.

    Who signs 1st?

Lilja is the best shot blocker on the team...that and his ability to clear the crease make him the best penalty killer on the team in my opinion.

    Who signs 1st?

Me either. Hossa is doing the Wings a favor by coming back at 6.5 million (Between Hank and Datsyuk). That will only make the team better. In fact if he takes that salary he is taking a pay cut after this year, which was his best season in a long time. Franzen is the one of the two that needs to realize what his value is and not hurt the team cap-wise. Yes he scores goals and is a big power forward hot commodity, but he doesn't get assists. Period. That being said that detracts from his value. I see him as a 3.5 million dollar guy in Detroit. Him at 3.5 and Hossa at 6.5 with a trade of Cleary makes the team very good in terms of skill and finances. In fact Hossa's pay cut would cover half of Franzen's raise...

3/17 GDT: Flyers 2 at Red Wings 3

Kronner had the worst game of anyone on the team last night. He was caught out of position and responsible for too many odd man rushes against. Answer to the blocked shots...Lilja...he is the best shot blocker on this team...it shows...

    Who signs 1st?

I think he comes back next year as long as he doesn't go higher than 6.5 million.

    Who signs 1st?

To people writing Lilja off the team...don't count on it. He is the best penalty killer on the team. I honestly think IF there is a trade to free up space it is Cleary.

Like hell it should have been. Until about half way through the second period the Wings were turning the puck over at the blue line and in the offensive zone giving Philadelphia quite a few quick out of nowhere odd man rushses which were the only things Ozzie let goals in on. Kronwall had the worst game he has had in a long time last night. He was caught out of position more than a few times, he was pinching without his spot being covered (thats not his fault) but then turning the puck over when there was only one man back in Stuart. Ozzie played a great game and anyone who thinks otherwise is dillusional. The Wings played a great game offensively from start to finish and tightened up defensively with 1/2 the game left and played shut down defense after that. Ozzie played a great game in net. Period.

I seem to remember a while back hearing Babs wanted to make his playoff starter decision with 10-12 games left. After tonight there are 11 games left... A solid game by Ozzie win or lose and we have a playoff starter... That is really all I care about tonight... Hopefully its a win though.

First off Congratulations to Detroit. 1st team in the league to 100 points. First team in NHL history to record 100 points in 9 straight seasons. Secondly Congratulations to Ozzie. Tied Mike Vernon (The Man who tutored him to be the goalie he is today IMO) at #11 on the all-time win list in 80 less games played with 385 Wins. Next up Dominic Hasek at 389 Wins. Keep up the great work Ozzie.

    Is Franzen worth 4 Mill?

Lets take a looksy here...(Note: All stats taken from TSN, and all cap figures from nhlnumbers.com) Johan Franzen-Age 29 Franzen Last Season 72GP 27G 11A 38P +12 13.57% Shooting...Post Season: 16GP 13G 5S 18P +13 18.57% Shooting Franzen This Season: 56GP 27G 16A 43P +11 14.67% Shooting...Projected Stats: 71GP 34G 20A 54P +11 14.59% shooting Niklas Hagman: Signed Contract at Age 28 Season before contract (2007-08) 82GP 27G 14A 41P +4 15.17% shooting Left Dallas and Signed with Toronto at 3 million per year for 3 years...(Franzen is worth more than him statistically) Ryan Malone: Signed Contract at Age 28 Season before contract (2007-08) 77GP 27G 24A 51P +14 16.98% shooting Left Pittsburgh and Signed with Tampa Bay at 4.5 million per year on average for 7 years (They are mostly equivalent statistically) J.P. Dumont: Signed contract at Age 30 Season before contract (2007-2008) 80GP 29G 43A 72P +5 15.10% Shooting Re-signed with Nashville for 4 million per year over 4 years (greater statistically than Franzen since he also gets assists) Now I know these are all different style players in different situations but one can argue he is worth more than the 3 million of Hagman, less the player who signed a home-town discount in Nashville (dumont) at 4 million but then again more than the grossly overpaid ryan malone... Thus it is a confusing process...I think that Franzen can site Malone as what he wants more than on the open market, but Holland can state that Dumont has superior stats and took a home town discount of 4...thus Holland can ask him to take less than 4 million... I see Franz making no more than 4 million but no less than 3.5 million if he stays in detroit... If he goes open market Johan Franzen will make at least 5 million dollars...
