And still shorthanded since it was a major...screw these refs... Ozzie has been brilliant this period... and btw if tkachuk's jersey said holmstrom that would have been disallowed because their skates touched.

Ozzie has more then made up for the softie with his play this period. He needs to get in this zone for 60 minutes a game. Lately he plays 1 period where the wings give him no shots to face, one where he sucks and one like this...if he could get 60 minutes of consistent hockey he would be playing like last year. Not sure what it is but he looks uncomfortable at the start of games and either loses it or gets really strong. I hope he turns it up and can play as he is right now for full games. He has Turco syndrom lately of being consitently inconsistent...I feel your pain Ozzie, I play that way sometimes too, lets get our head on straight together man,.

IF it is even a penalty its a 2 minute minor and he gets 5 and the game... WEAK call

Nope Checking line center or winger, either one.

Also Ozzie has been really really sharp this period after a shaky second. Also that was a BS penalty.

He plays hard, grinds into hard places, hits well, skates pretty well...He could be a more talented Dallas Drake.

To polish his shine...at least I hope...

I do remember. I just am absolutely impressed with Leino. His skating and defense could use some work but playing with Hossa and Pavel there is some room to grow with them taking his slack. Also Ozzie is looking much stronger this period.

Leino had an assisnt on the 2nd Hossa goal... 2 Games 2 Points... If they send him down I might cry... I would rather use the saved up cap space to keep him then to make a trade...

Leino and Abbie got screwed with all the penalties this period, neither of them saw the ice it seemed.

So here is my thing, despite Franzen being a goal machine, he gets no assists, and is only on pace for a 58 point season. He is 29 years old. I see career potential at about 70 points per season, mostly as goals. He is a slightly more productive Homer, and younger than Homer was when he signed his contract of 2.25 Million a year. I think that 3.5 million is as high as he should really get. But I don't know... I want to keep them all...I want Franzen and Hossa and Hudler...

Conks wasn't to great in the game against Washington. Also OMG HOSSA!!!! I am starting to lean Hossa over Franzen, maybe I don't know OMG.

Cross ice tape to tape pass, beautiful one timer with no hesitation, he is lucky he got to it in time to get any of it. That was a horrible PK formation and Ozzie was f***ed, he had no chance. First goal was indeed his bad though.

Som,ebody needs to clog the passing lane in the middle, horrible PK there.

There we go softie for softie. Good job Hossa!

I'm not blaming him, it was an odd bounce, but he played that angle horribly and had his stick off the ice, it was a soft goal to let in deflected or not.

Jesus Christ Ozzie... I am one of his biggest fans, but even I am getting frustrated with some of these softies.

The boredom rivals that of a Wild game.

This has been a flat period by both teams, and quite boring to watch. Not Red Wings hockey at like 7 total shots this period by both teams combined

    R. Lang bad injury

I think that this could be his career. He is a free agent at the end of the year and this injury puts him out for the rest of the season they think. and at the age of 38 I wonder if the probable year of rehab to get back to playing is worth it to him. Hope he makes it back. Horrible to see, best of luck to Bad Ass Bob.

Leino has looked good every shift, and that goal was amazing. Also Abdelkader looks very good out there.

Wings Call Up Leino & Downey

They should have played without Stuart in favor of Downey and a rookie all season? No this is a good move to keep things rolling with Stuart out, I would not want this roster for the rest of the season, I would much prefer Stuart back come playoff time.

Z down. Who is next for extension?

Firstly, I fully expect both Lebda and Meech to be kept next season. Ericsson will replace Cheli, but as a 3rd pair d-man, then Lebda will be 7th defenceman, and Meech will again be 8th defenceman/13th forward...In my opinion that is. Secondly Filppula is going nowhere. He is on pace to have pretty much the same exact statistics as last season, without the powerplay time. The fact that he has put forth the same stats without playing on the powerplay shows that he is improving as a player. Also keep in mind that he is only 24, soon to be 25, and in his 3rd NHL season. Give him a spot on the 2nd power play unit and 2nd line next season and I bet you he has at least 60 points. He will be worth the 3 million cap-hit in a year. I just really can't see him being traded, I could be wrong though.

Wings Call Up Leino & Downey

I am really excited about this. I'm upset Stuart is out but am excited that Downey can fight Ott tonight if he is a *****. Also I am really excited to see Leino up and see what he has to offer.

Z down. Who is next for extension?

Holland said in the presser that they can really only afford one of Hossa and Franzen. So to all hoping for all three, nope... That being said its a hard choice to make, and depends on numbers... Franzen for 4 or Hossa for 7.5 I take Franzen Franzen for 4.5 Hossa for 6, I take Hossa. It will be interesting, and I'll be upset about either one of these players leaving.
