    McCarty officially signs with Wings

I'm from Buffalo, NY and the store Great Skate has its only actual outlet there (they do most of their business online) because the Farkas family owns it (yes the family of Jeff Farkas, the former Leafs prospect traded to Atlanta and then nearly crippled in an on ice accident) and they are from the area. At the start of August every year they have a tent sale, and in the tent sale they sell discontinued merchandise, meaning equipment, and jersies of players that have left their team. I have gotten almost every jersey I own there. I have Ozzie, Feds, McCarty, and Yzerman Wings jerseys from there. I also have gotten Selanne Sharks, FOrsberg Flyers, Roenick COyotes, Peca Islanders, Ozzie Islanders, Ronning Wild, Smyth Edmonton, Chelios Blackhawks, Hasek Senators and a Palffy Kings jersies all at the tent sale over the years at $30 each. They are replicas not authentics, but thats still like $100 off. And its always cool to have jersies...

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

Well he also said that a Sundin + Kaberle trade was going to go down the day before Sundin refused to waive his NTC and a few weeks after Kaberle already had made that statement... again I say... Eklund takes trades from NHL08 on his Xbox and that makes it an e3...

    McCarty officially signs with Wings

Welcome back McCarty. Grind it out and get in shape for the next 2 weeks, and his first night back at the Joe he will get the crazziest standing ovation...

    The 2008 Trade Deadline Thread

No to be able to be waived and eligible for the playoffs. Now he can only do a 2 week conditioning stint in the AHL before being recalled if he is toeligible for playoffs....at least I think that is what they have been saying...its all kind of confusing.

    OFFICIAL: Sundin Staying Put

They would be the same teams in contention for Hossa I belive, because Sundin would want to go to a contender, as does Hossa, so yeah same teams...now that they cant say screw you toronto ill go talk to atlanta or vice versa atlanta holds 3 Aces after the flop...itll take a damn good turn and river to beat them...they definitely have the upper hand in negotiations now, and teams that really want that "impact player" will up their antes now to make sure they aren't left out.... If Holland is saying he won't over trade to get someone...then Hossa is probably out. Feds and Prospal are more in play now for Detroit I think

    OFFICIAL: Sundin Staying Put

The Leafs gave him a NTC...he IS the Maple Leafs...he had the right to stay there as the Leafs gave him that right...how is he a dick...

    OFFICIAL: Sundin Staying Put

I think the Ducks have proven they don't mind having players for a couple months...

    OFFICIAL: Sundin Staying Put

Yup... Wings will probably get Prospal at this point I think.

Why Can't Someone Do This to Phaneuf or Pronger?

Every play is subject to review by the league

    Official: McCarty offered a contract.

Exactly. He lost all his millions, and he is at the end of his career. If there is a team offering him more than the Wings, it could be better for him and his family, which he is trying to rebuild. There is not many years left for McCarty's career so he needs to maximize his income now in order to have some savings to support that family he is trying to rebuild. I'm not saying he has a better offer, but if he does, who can blame him for taking it. I mean yes he loves the Wings. But I believe in an article he listed his priorities as sbriety, family, hockey...his family comes first in those priorities... Link

The Official bring back Fedorov topic!

TSN COuld be nothing, could be something. To be honest, I think that if he gets traded he has little value in returns for Columbus because he ahs been injured. If Fed's will be a wing again, I sadly feel it will not be until he would possibly sign next season. But with all his injuries, he may even retire...

Garret Stafford recalled by the Wings

HIS AHL Profile AHL Transactions Chelios looks to be out tonight...

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

THAT MEANS NO INJURIES!!!! Plus a trade deadline before we play next... maybe some new faces next game... Good night people

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

Now lets say Ottawa offers Vermette + 1st rounder...I'd take that over Filppula + Sammy + 2nd rounder... or Montreal offers Streit and Ryder + a pick (as rumored on Spectors a few day back) I take that over Filpulla + Sammy + a 2nd Just in terms of this years help. Those 2 offers are more competitive than anything the Wings are going to offer. Thus I think IF Waddell sticks to his "must help this years chances" motif, the Wings cannot compete with other offers.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

I don't but nobody knows if they will or will not. Going off what the doctors have said in terms of timelines for these injuries I have no reason to doubt that they will be healthy come playoffs. And who says that if he goes to Anaheim there is no chance Neidermayer and Selanne get hurt, since they aren't in game shape yet due to late starts...nobody... Its a chance you take, any player has just a good of a chance of an injury as any other player in the league. You just need to look at what the roster should be at the time of the playoffs. And these guys should be back. And with no reason to doubt that I see the team as the best in the league again come playoffs.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

I agree. I think that Waddell is still on the hot seat in Atlanta, especially because their 5 year plans keep becoming 6/7/8 year plans to be a contender. He needs results that are both long term and immediate, and to be honest I think part of why Hossa wants out is because he doesn't have faith that Atlanta can ever build a contender. That being said, if Waddell trades Hossa, and they fail to make the playoffs, he may be filing for unemployment checks in June. I think that the Wings just don't have the goods to make a competitive offer for a player like Hossa in a scenario like Atlanta is in. And in terms of the Holland-Waddell friendship, which do you think he cares more about, his job, or helping his friends team win...I'd say his job...Just like Kevin Lowe...so regardless of my feelings on if I want Hossa to come here, I don't think he will soley due to circumstances...
  19. russianswede919293

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

Because before these injuries the Wings were by far the best team in the league, and the only player that MAY not be back for the start of the playoffs is Cleary...everyone else will be back and I think that once that happens the Wings will once again be playing like the best team in the league.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

You Know what time it is... Hossa Hoss.... Where did your gold teeth come from Kenny.... I trust that Holland will do the right thing at deadline. If he can get Hossa for a reasonable price I think he will, I still don't think bringing in another 7 million dollar man is wise, but I'm not an NHL GM...but neither is anyone else here...so whatever Kenny does, I feel he will be making the best move for this year AND the future of the Red Wings...we'll have to wait and see what that turns out to be.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

If its like me than the answer is not much...Cheechoo-Thornton=Crappy... BUT Waddell will need to do something to prevent a bashing by the eniter city of Atlanta, and he also has said that if the offers can't help them this year it may not happen. So we'll see.

  24. russianswede919293

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

that is true, but Waddell needs to show fans he still wants to make the playoffs if he gets rid of hossa. and a player like Cheechoo does that more than Filppula...Cheechoo says he has had success...Filppula says he WILL have success later on... He is dealing with helping his team in the long run while trying not to tell his fans Screw you Screw the playoffs I give up.

I'm sorry but to about 65% of this board if Ken Holland Sneezed it would mean we are getting Hossa... I think that the Hossa trade will go to the team with an offer that best helps the Thrashers stay in playoff contention, and Filppula is not that...
