Downey gave Laperriere all that was required in retaliation to the hit. There was no reason to suspend him for the hit, he should have recieved an elbowing call, but I don't think the hit was suspension worthy. And Downey kicked his ass for it. Case closed. Calling for Laperiere to have his life jeopardized over it...not necessary.

That is a double standard...your saying that since these players are dirty then we can be just as dirty, so do you think somebody should have done that back to Domi, or was he immune because he was just "giving him what he had coming"...no by your standards the "goons" should just run around cheap shotting each other until somebody kills another person...there is no spot for anyone to do this to anyone, regardless of their "goon status" a clean hard hit, yes thats getting whats coming, even a fight with that player, getting whats coming, a cheap shot, I think not...

I agree, I would much rather have Salei than Stuart. But Stuart wouldn't be a bad thing either. Just think Salei addresses the team needs better.... (See we can agree on things too )

I'm not justifying Perezhogin at all here, but what often goes unsaid here is that had Stafford connected, Perezhogin would have been the one on the ice and Stafford would have had the year suspension...He was just as in the wrong in that incident, and in fact took the first swing, he just missed... Again not saying Perezhogin was right, or justifying his actions at all...just saying Stafford wasn't JUST a victim...

I'm not crying about anybodies posts, I am stating my opinion that Hossa will not address this teams issues and save the world. I am also stating my opinion that I don't like the idea of putting that much salary into so few players, regardless of if it fits I do not think that its a good idea financially. It is a board where I can state my opinion as well.

That seems to be the general consensus here... The past few cup winners have NOT made big splashes at deadlines in case people were wondering...teams that have won lately tend to round their teams out with depth at deadline leaving the core intact...in fact that is the trend of the Wings cup wins too...

Issue is that Filppula and Hossa would not both be here...you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

Yes...Meech had a few mistakes but other than that played well, Quincey had a few mistakes + 2 but played a pretty decent game...and yes expecting too much from a guy in the AHL all year and another on the bench all year...

you know I feel spoiled saying this but this is the longest cup drought of my wings fan life....I started watching hockey at age 4 in 1991, and they won 6 years later, than the next season, than I had to wait 4 seasons, and this is season # 6 if they dont win it...It could be a record...I dont like that record Wings...keep the droughts short for me....
