While I agree with this 100%, I think the league still wants everyone on a level playing field! Baseball and Football have the same sort of cap, but its still the same teams fighting for the championship every year, sure the Saints and Tampa Bay Rays are exceptions; I just think the NHL is looking for competition on a level field. I would love the idea of a luxary tax, I think it is the way to go!

I think mine would have to be: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Stamkos Then on D: Weber-Doughty In net: This one is tough, but I'm gonna take Jimmy Howard and Bryzgalov! Pekka Rinne has upside, but I just not sure he is ready to win just yet. I don't think he was all that great in the Chicago series, whereas, Howie and Bryz were great and I think more consistant.

Great Year Boys! Like so many have said, I didn't see this team even making the playoffs this year and then all of a sudden we end up 5th! We had something like 365 man games missed due to injury and I think with that being said we pushed a very good Sharks team to 5 games, I thought we deserved a better fate in the playoffs, but thats the way it goes. Hats off to Jimmy Howard and Brad Stuart, I personally thought those two were the team MVP's for the season. Kind of think that the deep playoff runs in the last 3 years and then the trip to Sweden wore this team out and this maybe the best thing to happen, get an early break and recharge for next year!! I think with the bad officiating and injuries, this team will be hungry and refocused for next year, Watch out NHL, the Wings will be back next year!

Personally I was real happy with all 3! I thought Bert did exactly what we got him for. We needed someone to put up between 15-20 goals and he did that! I thought the team never really recovered from all the injuries this year. We got put behind the eight ball early and just never recovered. Remember our playoffs started in Early February this year. I think this team is just fine the way it is, if we can find a steal UFA, then by all means jump on it, but to blow the team up is not the best idea. I think we were only 12 points behind SJ for 1st overall at seasons end, just imagine if were healthy all year! Just sayin!!

Do you guys/gals think that once a team has a meltdown penalty wise that they go under the microscope with the refs! Because it seems that Vancouver is going to the box alot tonight, and some of the calls have been questionalbe at best! Just what I have seen. Im not saying Vancouver has not deserved most of the calls, but these 5 on 3's late in the second seemed a bit much!

I use Hockeystreams! Because the NHL Gamecenter usually blacks out VS Games. Hockeystreams.com does not even if it is on NBC! I think it costs 4 bucks per day or 15 per month! Which ever you chose, I think its worth it and its great quality!

Game 2 Will be a Wings Victory! I just have that feeling! I think we can beat San Jose in the series as well. We NEED to win our home games and get much better on faceoffs! I don't know what the issue is with this team on home ice and faceoffs, but we would have KO'd Phoenix much quicker if we would have been better on both. As for the officials, that shouldn't have even mattered! We controled that game and the only ones to blame is ourselves for not showing up until the 5 minute mark of the 1st!! I really think Setoguci will be put under the microscope and the refs will be aware of his flops from here on out!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last two times we were down 2-1 in a series (2007 vs SJ) and (2009 vs ANA) we came back to win those series. I believe the only one we did not win of those three was 2006 vs EDM. The only difference was that we were the road team for game 4.

Iunderstand what eva unit zero is stating! And it is simply a numbers game at that point, but I simply do not see the Wings letting Lilja go. Once he came back to the lineup out PK has been outstanding. I think since he has been back we have killed something like 45 of 49 PK's. That is crazy awesome, I simply do not see the Wings letting this guy go! I think Lidstrom is gonna take a huge pay cut, he is making 7.45 million a year, I think he will drop to 2 or 3 million and on a 1 year deal which leaves us the option to throw 2 million at Lilja and possibly bring Kindl up and keep Meech. I think the thing we need to worry about is keeping Helm and Eaves. They are both RFA's but I could see a team sending them an offer sheet that we may not be able to match! I also see us parting ways with Osgood and Jason Williams. With just Ozzie and Willy gone that frees up nearly 3 million. I personally see Daniel Larsson backing up Howie next year! I think we will have more options this year than we did last year! I heard that the cap may go up to 57.7 million. Who knows!!

Congrats to the Hawks! I would rather give up the Central Division Crown to the Hawks than the Predators, BlueJackets, or Blues! Chicago is an Original 6 team, so eventhough I hate them, I still respect them!

Ya know, I use to wonder why everyone got on Robby Looooo so much and then this year I drafted him as my goalie on my fantasy team. Now I know why people rip on him, because he sucks! That was the worst draft pick that I made! He was God-Awful lastnight, sure he didn't get much support, but he was out of position on 6 of the 8 goals the Kings scored! After the Kings made it 5-0, Loooooooooooooooou didn't look like he cared much in the net, thats a goalie that I want going into the playoffs!! One more thing, This chant of Loooooooooooooou everytime he makes a routine save needs to stop! However, you didn't hear it much in Staples Center lastnight!

If Crysby is in the Classic I will not watch it! I do not watch Penguins games because of him (unless they play the Wings). I simply cannot stand how much attention his overrated ass gets and to be honest the games really are not that good anyway! I think if its Pittsburgh/Washington that I would rather watch the College Bowl Games! Way to fail again Bettman!

Wasn't Playfair the coach of the Flames in 2007? I believe he was behind the Flames bench when McLennean speared Franzen in Game 5! I may be wrong! But damn that was a serious meltdown! I would expect a suspension is on its way for Playfair. the irony is the fact is his lastname is Playfair and clearly he isn't!

Yeah I agree with ya about that! But I just think if both teams have nothing to play for, that they will rest as many players as possible! Of course with the salary cap, we may not have that choice!

AHHH Yes, March 26,1997. This was the night the Foundation of the Wings Dynasty was finished! This was the night that put this team and organiztion back on the map and above the rest of the league. I remember the team struggled during the regular season and this was the game that was either going to make or break the rest of that season and the future of the team. As we all the know the history, this was the true birth of what we call HOCKEYTOWN!! Happy 13th Anniversary!!

Being the Geographer that I am, IF!! Atlanta were to move to lets say Seattle, I think Geographically Nashville would probably move to the east. Which then Seattle would probably be in the Northwest Division with Vancouver and that would put Minnesota in with the Central! But then again Bettman is in charge!

I actually like that Idea! I think you can crown the Conference Winner in the regular season just like they do with the division! Who knows, we could end up playing Pittsburgh in the first round!! That would be fun!!
