What did Zetterberg's sign say?
-
No there is something really to that. There was a FSN pre-show or Red Wings Weekly or something a year or more ago that mentioned that it means something. I think Babcock taught something to the guys with that acronym. The guys ended up writing around. They asked Draper about it and he smiled and said it was a secret or something. He said something to the effect that it wasn't negative it was just a reminder for the guys. I have tried guessing it since then. Occasionally, you'll see it written on the glass behind Babcock. Anyway, I thought perhaps S.H. was Skate Hard. M.B.? No idea. Skate Hard. Move Bodies. No clue. But it was for the players, by the players.

I'm beginning to think there might be something to this conspiracy theory. I mean I haven't seen much about this phantom goal except from Detroit news sources. But how often do you read tsn.ca/nhl and see a coach fined for saying something about the refs? What Mike Babcock said sure warrants a fine when you consider that other coaches have been fined for saying very similar stuff. "It was not blown dead," coach Mike Babcock said. "It was a goal. The guy never meant to blow the whistle; it was a shot. The puck went in on a shot. It was as dumb as anything I've ever seen. Toronto probably thought there was no way you can shoot it in the net and have it waved off," Babcock joked. "They tried to make a way for him to change it." Maybe I missed where the fine was announced but if this goes ignored. I have to give a little credibility to this whole conspiracy theory. It seems like it's being swept under the rug.

We're absolutely back. ... until we lose. Then we're back out of the playoffs. This is the natural order of things at LGdub.

Wow, OP.. I'm really glad your son enjoyed the ticket. It was the least I could do. It's awesome I could find out who I gave those tickets to. By the way, I'm going to need a kidney.. and maybe a lung too. Sound good? ... sorry! I had to do it.

I go about once or twice a year. Only out of state game I went to was several years back in Tampa Bay Lightning versus Toronto Maple Leafs. Walked up. Bought Tickets. Against the glass!!! Awesome. There was one girl beside us that kept screaming "I LOVE YOU TIE DOMI!!!" He heard her and smiled at her. I was at the first game Bert played for us in. Not this time, the first time. Only once that I've been have we lost. I think they should give me season tickets. =)

In my opinion, it looked like Cleary high-sticked him on purpose. It didn't look like he was hopping around him, he kept in a straight line. I think he was probably sending a message to the 'nucks. You keep gooning it up with Zetterberg and we'll do the same to your star players. It didn't look like intent to injure. It didn't look like he was going around Sedin, it looked like a message - plain and simple. Even Sedin was like "WTF!?" Obviously, no malice. No suspension. No fine. If Danny gets a fine or suspension for that. Then they'll need to fine/suspend Zetterberg for the gloved shots he took at the back of Kesler's helmeted head. I promise you that Z hit harder than Sedin got hit.

I told my wife that night. "I guess I'm really a HOCKEY fan, as much as I am a Red Wings fan"... because even though it wasn't Detroit and I was hollowed out inside, I still had to crack a smile when the Stanley Cup was lifted. Sure, I'm disappointed it wasn't our guys - but it's still the realization of some dreams. If you can't be happy about seeing someones dreams realized then I think you need to take a look at yourself.

sdogg1m, It's awesome to see you on these boards. It's no small comfort that even if you are in the heart of Preds territory that you're still letting your Red Wings flag fly.

I originally thought he tried to roll it down Hiller's back. But FSN Detroit showed another angle where Cleary was very clearly calling for the pass and motioned with his stick to flip it over the net. Dan was making a motion that kind of looked like "up and over" and Dats did it immediately following. I'd look for the TSN replay somewhere to see it.

PS 2009 Round 1 Photoshop War: Columbus Blue Jackets
One4TheWings replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
Instead of carrying the CBJ's, why not have him hoisting the cup? THAT is his real dream, right? He can still be superman, but give him the cup. Then the shattered dream thing is very apparent.- 687 replies

Have you ever ordered from frozenpond.com? I think those replica jerseys the people are ordering from China look like s***! Is this a legitimate Reebok replica or is it a China produced jersey turd?

if you knew yzermans last year to play was the season...
One4TheWings replied to sirdrake1's topic in General
I think what people are forgetting is the key piece here... Yzerman's opinion himself. Stevie Y was/is a class act. He bleeds Red Wings Red. The guy wouldn't even take credit for his career, instead giving props to the fans and the players he's played with. If Detroit had the ability to acquire Crosby, Malkin and four 1st Round Draft picks... AND he knew it was his last year, I have no doubt he would have ok'd the trade. Hell, I bet he would have threatened to retire if Holland DIDN'T do the trade. While I'm not a fan of either of those players, I admit they bring a lot of skill. Yzerman always looked out of the best interest of the Wings. All of this being said, C'mon! What are you smoking? No one is going to turn over young talent like those two for even the classiest player. Then you toss in the completely unbelievable four 1st Round Draft picks and this ventures into Dreamland territory. -
NHL re-alignment - North and South Conferences
One4TheWings replied to stevkrause's topic in General
My friend thinks your a genius! He has been preaching this for a really long time. I wouldn't be suprised at all if this brings him out of the lurker shadows and he tries to get your address to hand deliver a big hug. Yes, he's that happy. ... and a little ***. PS. That last comment is a Mike Birbiglia joke, who my friend is also a big fan of. So no citing hate speech or anything ridiculous like that. -
I guess you guys said it all... If Bert re-signed what would I like to see? Oh, I don't know... Him play with even a LITTLE bit of edge. I'd also like to see him stop floating around out there.

I'm sure Matt will have his wallpaper up before Game 1.

That is great advice betterRed! Perhaps I will narrow the focus of the paper. It's a really short paper only 750-1250 words and the topic doesn't matter only that we're able to emphasis that we understand the concept between cause and effect writing. I guess I could narrow it down even further to emphasize how the rule changes have effected the Wings in terms of shooutouts, icing, etc. It's too bad there are statistics for quality scoring chances. I really would like to do something regarding the removal of the 2 line pass. The shorter games would be easier to prove than anything. Is the NHL.com and ESPN.com box scores the best place to go for getting the game lengths? Or is there a website that makes it easy to pull up stats like that?
-
I'm going to pop out of lurk mode to ask for the most knowledgeable fans in hockey for some help. I have to write a cause and effect paper about any topic I want. I decided to do cause and effect of the new rule changes in the NHL. Original ideas I had were: Goals Per Game Average a few years prior to the rules change and then today. Not sure how I would prove that cutting down on clutch and grab hockey has allowed our flashier players to break out (Datsyuk & Zetterburg). Do you have any ideas? Maybe an increase in hooking & interference calls? Do you guys have a good website I could go to look at statistics or something that would lend to this topic? What about any links to good articles regarding these changes. NHL.com is pretty bare and obviously the content that is there is slanted. If you were trying to explain the pros and the cons... the cause (new rules change) and the effect... What topics would you look at? GPG? GAA? Intereference/Hooking calls? Appreciate this guys and gals...

I've done this.. and from Flint myself. Go to Greektown casino and park in their parking ramp. Go to the Casino floor and you'll find automated machines that validate parking. There is a people mover station inside of Greektown Casino..it comes every 10-15 minutes or so, and it will take you right to Joe Louis Arena.. and it will take you back after the game. There is nothing to it, .. you never need to touch a Detroit street if you don't want to. You can PM me if you want more info... or just post here.
