I've been reading the entire Preds boards thread on the issue and it seems that the team can move next year even if they get over 14 000 Balsillie would just have to pay the city some money to get out of the contract or something..... Even so, a lot of fans are talking about getting rid of their season tickets. Combine that with any possible uncertainty of the franchise keeping any free-agents away, and there's a chance they won't hit 14k anyways.....

Who is your favorite all time player, AND your favorite active player?
T-Ruff replied to a topic in General
Favourite all time: Steve Yzerman, he is the reason I became a hockey fan and a Wings fan.... Favourite active player: Nick Lidstrom, MVP....he is the epitome of class, a great leader, and is the best defenceman the NHL has ever seen since Bobby Orr.... Crosby said it best when asked "Which player did you know was good but didn't know how good until you actually played him?" and he replied "Nicklas Lidstrom"..... Favourite non-wing: Jason Spezza, with honourable mention to Marion Gaborik..... -
No question Balsillie wants a team in Canada. I have been reading the Predators boards on the topic, the majority of them are doom and gloom, talking about getting rid of their season tickets, and just generally really pessimistic and angry..... I feel for them, just as their team is becoming competitive they have to face the very real possibility that the team won't even be there within 3 years.......

^^^ Good call ANA/OTT - Senators in 5
-
Good/interesting point..... In any event, I believe he will at least try to come back and maybe pull a mid-season Brett Hull retirement if he feels he can no longer compete at the level he wants to.....
-
Hasn't Schneider mentioned that he wants to try and go as long as Chris Chelios? I don't think he is toying with thoughts of retirement.....
-
If anyone has the right to pull a move like that it's Chris Chelios..... He did go over and shake the coaches' hands.... There must have been some on-ice issue with some player(s) that we may never know..... or, as mentioned, he was just too emotional and will regret/apologize for it later.....I will reserve judgment until more information is brought forward.....

Bertuzzi was battling a back injury and the rust of not playing in the majority of the regular season.... He showed flashes of brilliance in the playoffs and it would be a shame to let him walk when we could probably get him back for a decent price. Bertuzzi will be able to become near the player he once was if he puts his mind and body to it, and along with the right coaching he can become a major force on our team..... I think he likes it here, and I think he will be re-signed....

That Pahlsson goal killed....The Wings came out slow and hesitant, they needed to play the desperate but composed style they did in the 3rd right from the get-go..... The Ducks played their best game of the series in the first 2 periods, it's just a shame that they were even given the chance to play in this situation..... I don't want to complain about any lucky bounces or missed opportunities, that is part of hockey....but after watching past 3-4 games I am disappointed to have to say that the better team did not win this series..... Ottawa is my 2nd favourite team. As little compensation, I will enjoy their thorough domination of the Ducks, as well as watching Pronger cry after losing his 2nd straight Stanley Cup Finals, and the Cup coming back to Canada, it's 2nd home outside of Hockeytown The injuries to Schneider/Kronwall really crippled the Wings, but they will no doubt better than ever next season with the emergence of Franzen/Filpula/Lebda/Lilja/etc... as well as the hopeful retention of Bertuzzi and possibly Hasek, the departure of Lang, and possible free agent signings with the cap going up.....
-
If he comes back for the same price, its just another no-risk signing. I'd go for it..... He is very competitive and in great shape.... I just don't like the idea of possibly having my favourite and in my opinion the greatest goalie of all time possibly retire in an ugly way like Detroit no longer plays him because he is no longer effective.....
-
I always wondered what happened to Lang....We aquire him as the leading NHL scorer on a horrible team, he gets 3 assists in his first game, and has a great playoffs that year..... I will miss Lang, and I know he will just light it up on some other team..... Something about the Wings just didn't suit him......
-
I will watch...I am a hockey fan...I watch every game possible in the playoffs, Wings or not, and never miss a finals game..... The fact that the Sens are my 2nd favourite team and I will enjoy Ottawa's domination of the Ducks doesn't hurt either....
-
Given the way this series has played out so far I fully expect the Wings to win tonight and game 7.... I will be in shock if they don't......

You Be The Captain-Your Words to Team Before We Hit the Ice

Ottawa is my 2nd favourite team, hence the impending Wings/Sens final is going to be great....I wouldn't be as mad if the Wings lose to the Sens than if it were any other team. On another note - having followed Ottawa's entire playoff run - there is no doubt in my mind that if the Ducks pull out this fluke of a series win they will be thoroughly sh*t kicked by the Sens..... The hockey world deserves a final that won't end in 5 games or less.....
-
Lang is going to bring it..... Wings continue to dominate but actually win this time..... I can't wait for this game to start
-
Lang. On. I love how Robert Lang has become such a "cult"-like icon on this board.... It will be sad to see him (most-likely) gone next season.....
-
Been pretty angry each time I am reminded of yesterday's game.... However, I am very confident about tomorrow's game. They will come out strong tomorrow, the funny thing is, all they need to do is play like they did the last 2 games and they should win (minus the giveaways). Which is why I'll be so bitter if the Ducks somehow pull out this series win.... The better team will not have won, and the Sens will beat them in 5.....
-
This could be a boost to our team just like the game after we loss Schneider, everyone will play harder and more technically sound, and if Hudler is the one going in he will play great to try and prove himself to Babcock..... This could be beneficial in a twisted way...... If Bert is out for the rest of the round and the finals I hope to see him next year.....
-
There is tons character on this team, The Wings' know they should have won this game and the Ducks know it too.... They could have been out of this in 4 or 5 games, if they continue to play like this all the Wings need to do is beat Giguere once or twice, because the Ducks have been relying on weird bounces and giveaways for the majority of the series...... I will be disgusted if the Ducks win the series, looking back at the interference goal on Hasek in game 2, the fluke goal of Lidstrom's stick in this game, and the way we've outplayed them 80+% of the time.... It won't happen
-
He has been getting better each game, I hope he is ok.....
-
Wow.....If the Ducks continue to rely on the kind of fluke bounces and dumb giveaways (2) they have been getting, they will not win this series...... The Wings dominated this game, the better team did not win, the better team is not leading this series..... Wings will take it on the road, and then finish it at home.... and if by some act of divine power the Ducks win the series, they will be picked apart by the Senators.... A Wings/Sens final will be closer than Ducks/Sens would.....
-
Sens close out the series today on a shorthanded OT goal.....
-
If I'm not mistaken, he always leaves his helmet on, it's probably one of those superstitious goalie things......I personally don't think its a big deal.....
-
The bottom line: Hasek right now is as good better than Osgood was in his prime.... And that's not a knock on Ozzie, few goalies in the league will ever measure up to Dominik Hasek......
