A "hot" topic huh? I' gonna say that I pretty much like all 80 reasons. Okay, some of them... not so much, but I'm a good guy and I don't discriminate. They would still look good from the upper bowl
-
Never mind, he's back for the third and going 100mph like usual.

You can count out Zubov 100%, he has absolutely 0 interest of playing for the national team. This is a shame because Russia's Achilles heel is usually the defense. From what I know, Russia's internal problems usually stemmed from immaturity of Ilya Kovalchuk. Now, however, he seems to have grown up and understands his role of being a team player. As long as the new youngsters (Ovechkin, Malkin, Semin, Zherdev) keep it together and don't grow a big head and that "I" attitude, Russia should be able to make a run for the gold. I'm gonna say Canada and Russia in the final and then, anything can happen. Never count out Finland though, they always seem to fly under the radar and surprise everybody.

Ovechkin got hurt just now. Chara hooked him and he went hard into the boards. Stayed down for a long time, then went to the bench and eventually left to the locker room violently throwing down his gloves and helmet out of frustration. Looked like a shoulder injury, or maybe even a concussion. Hopefuly nothing serious.

I sure hope you're right. Datsyuk is my favorite player of all time, but he is not more important to me than the game of hockey itself. I don't have blinders on and give a free pass to anybody when, and if (in this case), they disrespect me.
-
That's not what people on here are saying. The general idea is that "it was a slick move by Datsyuk" Oh, and "meaningless regular season game" ? There's no such thing until you clinch the presidents trophy. Also, like I said before, tell this to the fans who, perhaps, waited all year and bought expensive tickets to go see the Wings win or at least give it their best.
-
So what you're all saying is that he left an important 3-3 game, one that he could have helped win, but instead faked an injury so he could skip the all-star game and have a vacation? And you're all OK with this and actually saying "good job Pavel"? How about all the fans that bought expensive tickets to go see the Wings win? Are they OK with this also?

My question is, how is Zetterberg's current performance going to affect his contract negotiations that are bound to start very soon, if they haven't already. In all fairness, they can't pay him more than Datsyuk, but his market value is obviously more. What a dilemma for Holland.
-
I don't like him, naturally, because he's a Duck and a couple of interviews I saw with him he sounded like a complete ******. But he's a hell of a player and has been quietly improving every single year he's been in the league. By the way, he's only 22 years of age so he will only get better and better that's for sure. Curious fact: the forwards starters for the all-star game this year: Kane, Toews, Getzlaf, Crosby, Malkin, Kovalev. Ages: 20, 20, 22, 21, 22, 35. Kovalev is the odd ball in this group. I know its all shenanigans and it should've been Ovechkin instead of Kovalev, and I don't know about Toews... but is this the youngest all-star starting line-up ever?
-
Alex Ovechkin, WAS LW 138 Hits Hehehe, had to throw this out there. Datsyuk is awesome though, every year he's becoming better and better. That hit on Kane(?) in overtime earlier this year was awesome.

I was rooting for Sweden in the final, me being Russian and all, but after seeing the dives of Markstrom and OUR VERY OWN PROSPECT Joakim Andersson BITING Thomas Hickey I'm glad Canada rolled them.
-
Anyway to watch this in the US? An online link perhaps that doesn't tell me I'm in the wrong region like TSN does?
-
"Buzerant" The funniest part about that segment was Eddy Olchyck cracking up, not being able to control himself.

I'm not so sure about wood sticks being more durable anymore. I used to only buy sherwoods 5030 but they would start splitting at the blade and eventually break after about 2 months. I've been using a 2-piece easton composite that a teammate gave me for about 5 months now and so far so good.

So most of you guys don't care what the product on the ice is for the regular season? Most of you would rather have the griffins play the regular season and save our stars for the playoffs? Did it ever occur to you that they are getting paid millions of dollars to play 82+ games and give it their best each and every shift to ENTERTAIN US? Do you even watch the games during the regular season or do you just check the box scores the next morning?
-
For the sake of the game I hope you're wrong. If you were right, I would stop following the NHL completely and watch college hockey.
-
Not to take anything away from them, but they've been a scary scary team for the past 4 years and nothing really happened when it mattered most. We're worried because our 11 wins are 1-goal wins (empty net goals count as 1 goal win for me) and mostly against bottom feeders. When we faced a true test again SJ, Anaheim and Pitt we failed. We haven't showed the kind of puck possession dominance we're used to seeing the last couple of years in any one game so far.
-
I'm sorry but I'm not voting for either Rafalski, Lidstrom or Osgood. There are some better players who actually deserve to be there at least so far this season.
-
I'm with you 100%. Too much octopi these days, and its definitely diminishing the effect. The fans should really pick their spots and, otherwise, keep it in their pants (no pun intended ). The octopi should be unexpected and effective like a Datsyukian deke.
-
Wait a minute, how did you guys get to choose which feed to watch in NY? Is this on center ice?
-
Datsyuk doesn't use the hole stick anymore?
-
Right on man. Show how narrow minded some people are.

http://www.theonion.com/content/video/nhl_..._to_big_leagues I Apologize if this was posted before, but this made my otherwise boring day. The quote at the very end is priceless too

And what about Dallas Drake? What a shrewed move that was. I know we picked him up in the offseason, but who honestly thought that he would be such an huge presence for us in the playoffs? He went from being a fourth liner/healthy scratch during the regular season to playing every game in the playoffs and getting solid minutes. I'm so happy for him winning and what i nice touch by Nick giving him the cup first.

he did set up the GWG last game :/
