Finally, the Wings can't be denied any longer. The playoff choke label is gone. AND BTW... the "old legs" comments made by Pierre the jackass were out of line. The Wings are a healthy mix of veterans and young guys..... They deserve to be acknowledged as a great team and given due respect the Stanley Cup Champs who won with class and dignity, unlike many others. I couldn't be more proud of the team and the organization. There were a few tears running down my face as the cup was hoisted, and my wife said "You didn't even cry at our wedding..... lol"

Looks like the onset of Parkinsens... or however you spell that.... f*** YEA!!! STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!

This guy drives me nuts. Sorry to be negative, but if the NHL is looking for a Tony Saragusa, let him be an unbiased one who doesn't stick his nose up the pens asses.... Seriously, if any of the Pens turned a corner fast, they'd break his nose! What do you rate this guy on a scale of 1 to 10?
-
I'd say Yes, because he's not Kyle Calder.....

I've never heard of one before.... I thought they were wrist shots.... can anyone help me here?
-
I think it is his knee. He had problems with one of his knees not too long ago, and the way he was "pitchforked" by Gill, it looked like it got tweaked. He was our during the TV time out putting weight on it. I am guessing its his left knee that is bothering him now.

Same here...I've been skating since I was a kid, and haven't ever heard of the "shovel shot..." but, if there is a something new out of Canada, I want to know aboot it!

Do you actually play hockey?
-
Jeff Beukeboom had his career ended by a cheap shot to the head after concussions. A shot not unlike the ones Franzen took tonight. Although the hit Beukeboom took was from behind, it was a cheap shot nontheless. There is no place for those kind of actions in hockey. Attempting to end a guys career is above and beyond the game. The Penguins are classless, and I hope they suffer the sweep and burn in hell.

What percentage of teams winning game one win the cup? LETS GO WINGS!!! You see the wings clenching their sticks tightly tonight or remaining cool as the other side of the pillow?

A few gems I found on Bettman.... for your self esteem building and reading enjoyment! http://www.hockey.com/hockey-blogs/nhl-new...hl-history.aspx http://www.firebettman.com/entries/gary-says-screw-detroit/ http://www.jewoftheday.com/categories/spor...tman%20Gary.htm http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75BC0A965958260 I hope Nick tears the cup out of his hands and causes that little weasel to fall to the ice and crack his head open!

O'Hallaran - Default call is 'interference'?

O'Hallaran - Default call is 'interference'?
high_stick69 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Haha.... thats a joke. Fluery WAS allowed to do his job. There is no way that Homer's stick stopped him from getting a blocker on that sniper shot by Lidstrom. He could have ventured out another 5 feet and not stopped that shot. To say it prevented him from doing his job is a crock. Was Fluery knocked off balance? Did it stop him from raising his blocker up to stop that shot? The answer is NO and Lids beat him soundly up high. Homer's stick was irrelevent on the play IMO. -
Lets get a group of Wings fans together to cheer the Wings on in game 5 against the Stars and for the Stanley Cup Finals!! Drop me a line!

I don't know that they will skew the outcome of the series, but I would almost guarantee they will not allow this to be a sweep. Look at the power plays Dallas got in Game 5. I didn't get to see game 5 of the Pittsburgh / Philly series, but after I saw what the officiating was like in game 5 of the Wings and Dallas, I almost bet my house on the fact Philly would win game 5 against Pittsburgh. I would be very surprised if this series doesn't go 7 games or if it doesn't the team losing the series in game 6 will have tons of power plays and chances to come back. The thing that we unfortunately have to face is that this is the "entertainment" business. I really hope that hockey isn't just like that stripper you've fallen in love with that takes your business card and promises to call...but only takes your money.

Hey kids! What kind of affect do you think the layoff will have on Franzenstein? Doesn't he still have his goal streak going? How will the pressure of the goal streak, coupled with the pressure of the finals affect him? I'd sure like to see him return to the "looks like he's been shot out of a cannon" form he was in earlier in the playoffs, but can you really take 2 weeks off and be at your peak? Thoughts?

the "this might/will be my last chance for a cup" factor
high_stick69 replied to j.hoop's topic in General
As a fan... do you feel less desire for the Wings to win the cup than you did back in '95 or '97? There are a lot of young players on the Wings that have lived their hockey lives for this series. I think some of the older guys like Drake need to let the younger guys know that the potential to go the rest of their careers without being in the finals is good! Hopefully that's not the case, but look at Doug Weight of a few years ago, and Rod Brindamour. Those guys waited an eternity to win the cup. Even Dom waited quite a while to get his hands on it. -
Now if your wife makes the excuse that shes "got a headache" you can feel as important as the Stanley Cup!! woo hoo!! Unfortunately my wife is the Montreal Canadians of headaches....
-
How huge would it be to have the mule back!?! Even though they say he won't play in game 1, I have a feeling he's going to dress. If he's cleared to fly around at 100 mph, how could he not be cleared to play? Either way great news! We need his size and scoring touch!!
-
My question is..... how could it be that Homer was in the crease but Brett Hull was not? Seems that Dallas is the lucky recipient of the 2 biggest questionable in the crease calls of all time! Before you scream about the fact the rule is different than in Brett Hull's day, just look at how far the rule has come. Its come down to... have a reputation? Get a call!

The rule is that Gary Bettman wants the Wings to win on NBC on Saturday so it can be a national broadcast. I wouldn't be surprised if he told the refs to give the game to Dallas. Even Eddie Olyczk said the refs let Dallas get away with several penalties. I'm sure the NHL makes more money the more games are played in the conference finals and the SC finals. If they are all sweeps, the NHL isn't exciting, and Bettman won't allow that. That spineless piece of crap!

Colorado (Denver-Metro area) Wings fans

I sure wish I had found out about this part of the site when I moved to Denver 4 years ago. Unfortunately I moved again to Sacramento. Jacksons off 104th isn't a bad place to watch hockey. I used to skate there. They have a lot of big screens and play pretty much whatever hockey is on. Best of luck! -
If Ribeiro's history had been looked at a little more closely, I doubt that Ozzy would've gotten a fine.... look at this schmuck! Sorry if this gem's already been posted. I nearly pissed myself when I saw this: Loser!

"Considering the level of gayness you surround yourself with." LMAO! I wonder how many people actually take that into account before they start their day.... "I need to be surrounded with a certain level of gayness."

Hopefully the dives get Patty Wahh as their coach. It would be great seeing him cry on the bench while the Wings take the Avs apart. Colorado is on the downswing. Sakic won't be around much longer, and neither will Foote or Floppa. Ryan Smith is an overpaid injury and Brunette will probably take a FA payday with another team. Aside of Statsny the cupboard is pretty bare.
