Speaking of Swedish goalies.... Is Detroit's association with Stefan Liv officially over???
-
Great... Here they go again!

This usually means you don't have the right codec loaded for the video format. My guess is you need to go to the DivX site and download and install the latest codec.
-
You first need a utility to extract the MP4 file from the RAR file that you downloaded. Google "RAR format" and you'll find tools you can download. After that, the MP4 file can be played in Quicktime.

Funny.... The lack of sleep is not a pretty thing!

Yep, I'm stuck in the "Frazen Club" too at 93...

Pens lose in 6... again!!!

You are correct.... He collapsed on the bench after a shift, his heart stopped beating, and he was only revived due to the quick work of the team doctor and a defibrillator. The rest of the game against Nashville was canceled as a result. The exact cause was never found, he was unable to get medical clearance to play again, and he retired as a result.

If the refs had also likewise swallowed their whistles on the "hooking" call on Hudler with 1:47 left in the game, then I'd feel better about the "They were just letting them play" defense of the refs.

I've got some of my best personal equipment deals at JLA. My gloves are nice CCM pro models that Darren Helm used in prospect camp with little wear on them.... $50. My current stick is a game used Rafalski Mission Fuel that cost me $75. Before that I used a Jason Williams Vapor XXX that was $50.

In our house it was "Dom!... Crease!... Stay!!!!"
-
My cap is off to Dom... Bravo, well done. The Dom & Ozzie show was a blast to watch this year. I was at the last regular season game, and I remember thinking to myself "I wonder if I've witnessed Hasek in his last regular season game in his career?"
-
Keep in mind that the June 9th issue doesn't cover Game 6 and is a mid-series issue. I'm not saying the next issue will be any better, but we can dream.

Current year game worn jerseys started at $250 for players like Bootland. "Regulars" started around $500, IIRC, with most closer to a grand, top liners were ~$1,500. Hasek's were $3,500. The only real "deals" they offered were unsold jerseys from two or more seasons ago. Game worn gloves were about the same prices as they sell them for the rest of the real at JLA. Most of the unused skates were gone when I got there, the deals seemed good, but not real eye-popping. Most new sticks were around $100 but we did pick up a new Howard goalie stick for $40. The best deal we found was the team issued RBK and CCM practice pants they were blowing out at $10 a set.

Didn't I hear on NBC that the last NHL goalie that went 10 years between Stanley Cup wins was Terry Sawchuck???

The sale last year was around June 14 or 15th. My guess is that since the season ended a couple of weeks earlier last year, it might get pushed back this year to allow Paul Boyer & Co. time to sort things out before they throw open the doors. Also, don't expect more than a day or two notice before it happens. But I agree that it'll likely be a bigger zoo than normal this year. I was at the 2nd day of the sale last year (got a great deal on a well hammered Legace jersey and picked up a Booter for a friend), but people that went on Day 1 said they stood in line for a couple of hours before it started and stuff flew fast.

It was a great crowd.... but I think 1+ million is a wee-bit of a stretch. My guess is that there were a couple hundred thousand tops. I doubt ~1.5x the total population of the City of Detroit was lining the parade route.

You can read the whole sorry tale here: Freep: A Mayor In Crisis Basically Da Gangsta Mayor was boinking his Chief of Staff on the side and in the process some things happened that attracted police attention. When the cops got to close to blowing the affair, the Mayor had the cops fired. The ex-cops fired back with a wrongful dismissal suit and won and in the process the Mayor and his lover lied on the stand about having an affair. However, when the cops' lawyers found text messages during the trial that were a smoking gun for several perjury charges, Da Mayor agreed to settle (costing the city around $8 million) the suit for MORE than the jury award in exchange for the text messages being kept secret. However, The Freep got ahold of copies of the messages and the fecal matter has hit the air propulsion device.

I think that Happy is finally comfortable playing in Detroit. That was too funny today!
-
I think the only logical choice would be a Homer jersey! Honestly, though, any of them would be good choices. They each are "great stories".

Yes, Korbel pays for that product placement... Great marketing.

I was surprised that the JC Penny's here had the hat and shirts (several varieties). Also, they have a deal that if you buy $45 of any NHL merchandise before June 26th, there's a coupon you can mail in for one of the small 3" replica Cups for free!!!
-
My son and I screamed and turned out heads away from the TV when they showed them prep'ing the Cup last night!!!
-
FYI... Dunham's in other regions of the state are getting shipments today too....
-
I was bummed out that today's State editions of the Freep and DetNews were printed before the game ended and had ZERO info about the game.
